Which has nothing to do with Ratcliffe. And he acknowledged how much of a mess the stadium is by his actions. Ratcliffe walked through the door and instantly assembled a team headed by Sebastian Coe to explore a new stadium project. That tells you everything you need to know.
BUT WHERE IS THE NEW STADIUM?

Revamp or new stadium, I don't care. Just please install some new rain gutters at the very least because the latest videos on social media are embarrassing for a club like United.

Would Wembley/The FA allow it though?

Old Trafford is a prime spot still for semi finals but semi finals at Wembley are a big money maker for the FA, that’s why we have them there sadly.
Plus Wembley is a neutral stadium - it'd be very different having a club stadium that is suddenly given some weird kind of official national status. Be different if it was part of a wider move to decentralise (though I agree with RAB, why would the FA allow all that money to go elsewhere) - with national status granted to stadia in the northeast, midlands, northwest etc..

Its been leaking for a few seasons now, how can you not do the usual maintenance and give the place an overhaul over the summers ?

Just sums it all up, the neglect is incredible.

apparently they have a committee that is looking at the rain flooding issue but changes aren't expected to be made structurally until possibly July

Don't sign old players and cast offs
I presume this is as well as the freight terminal still being there?
As one of the comments says, if United were to build a large modern new stadium next to the existing one they would need all that land to do it. Any new platforms would be adjacent to the current track, not veering off into the middle of the plot as shown. I'm not saying they will be able to use any of that land, just if they could.

Great move if its true.

The nearby tram station really is'nt built for thousands of people all trying to get out of the area at once.

The question is, how long until all these plans start to take shape? Probably 2040 at the earliest with the pace we operate at :annoyed:

Its a lot of noise as usual

It really doesn't take that long to employ an engineer to assess the roof and then work out how to get it fixed. It just requires a billionaire to spend a bit of his money.

It is also something that should be done immediately regardless of if the plan is for a new stadium or not, in case along with the leaking water a bit of the roof decides to come down on someone's head.

Yea we're going for the lick of paint option
Honestly, it’s very embarrassing!
A lick of paint is not enough to cut it, a new stadium is needed Old Trafford has served its purpose. I work sports events/ticket hospitality and we’re so far behind other clubs not just the likes of Man City/ Madrid but even teams like Brighton are putting us to shame!

Problem is I doubt there's 2-3billion down the back of a sofa somewhere to pay for it.

Would you like to see the club borrow that type of cash to fund it?

But that's less than 10% of Jim's net worth right? Besides isn't he after building legacy? And here wouldn't be doing charity either, if he spent that he gets equivalent amount of stake as per the purchase agreement.

I wouldn't be holding my breathe hoping a billionaire sticks his hand in his own pocket to fund a new stadium.

Billionaires don't spend their own money.

You realise net worth doesn't equal cash in the bank

Fair point, no wonder he wants the government to help out

Yes, of course. His borrowing power is derived out of his net worth though.

What are you all moaning about? You can't be daft enough to mistake standard summer maintenance with what is clearly going to be a new stadium build in the coming years, can you?

Do you really think they assembled fourteen of the most influential people in Manchester to discuss a summer paint job?

Moving the freight terminal to somewhere else in GM and building a new railway is a massive undertaking and will happen alongside wider regeneration.

This is a several year project, not a snap of the fingers.

Seeking financing for a new stadium wouldn't have been an issue if we weren't highly leveraged. The EPL really fecked us allowing those cnuts through the door.

You mean it won't be built by the start of the season? Wtf, INEOS out.

I 100% agree. This is going to be at least a five year project. Making Old Trafford a better place to be in the mean time is a good thing.

If they redo OT then where will play our home games? Highly doubt City will let us ground share with them.

We have no didicated cheese room.
There's a large walk in dairy fridge in the north stand mostly containing cheese, the smell still haunts me. Someone told me Spurs have a pipeline system throughout some kitchens just for gravy, I'm not sure if that's true or just some Willy Wonker bullshit but that's what we need to be aspiring to

I imagine it is true. If OT is rebuilt I hope they pipe gravy directly to each seat so you can have as much as you like on tap.

You can never have too much Gravy.

The hospitality packages that the clubs have available and the services/facilities. So just as a small example Brighton offer Tunnel Club, heated leather seats, charging points and QR code in seat dining service for food and drinks.

We need to be offering the finest hospitality services possible and honestly we are not, we're very behind.
