I think this discussion needs to be had. Is it necessary for this site to function to have information being sourced by a Nazi run platform? Are there not good enough alternatives now that we do not need to have this site show up here?

Its been a while since scrolling became a thing, might want to get with the times.

I'm in favour of this. feck him and all his products

No. Don't care what that moron does, the site still provides valuable information that you don't get through normal news media.

Yes, new can be sourced from elsewhere. Our own collective laziness should not serve as a crutch to prop up a Nazi billionaires plaything.

It should be used as the catalyst to finally get the remaining sources off it onto Bluesky

I've seen a lot of football related subreddits discussing the same. I think it's a great move if it's a collective thing like that. It could push more journalists to join alternative platforms. Might take some time, though.

I've always thought it was shit and had a bad effect upon the site way before Musk and whatever it's now Nazi or something. Bin it for good.

That doesnt mean we need to support it. If more sites did the same the world would be a much better place
True but other sites sadly aren’t going to. I would happily have Elon Musk hits rock in a gulag for the next 100 years but Twitter still provides valuable information imo.

There is no worthwhile information that you absolutely can't find somewhere like Bluesky. Of course, without Bluesky integration that's a bit of an inconvenience.

But RedCafe should not support X.

I was thinking this earlier. Get rid of it. Should have been done ages ago, to be honest.

If anyone desperately needs Twitter they can go there themselves.

Yeah, I'd be for it now. It will be possible at some point to have BlueSky integration on the caf as another forum I'm on uses Xenforo and they've managed it.

Until then I'd be happy to persevere with just posting the links or screenshots.

How is BlueSky with regards to politics like the Israel Palestine conflict?

If we ban X, then we have to ban every single link to media outlets owned by billionaires.

Or does people think there are "Good billionaires"?

And have the transfer tweet threads with no tweets in?! Like they are currently? Fair point, get rid.

There are clear downsides, but I think it should be gone on balance.

Well perhaps we can start with banning Nazi billionaires

Not a question of whether there are good billionaires or not, for better or worse most of them aren't card carrying racists, nazi loving AR Soles

Could we at least post some ways to phase them out till Bluesky is added to XenForo?

Perhaps just putting a warning on posts saying "posting twitter/x links isn't suggested, please try to post direct source" or something of the sort.

How ?

Overall people would just be less informed. Blue sky hasn’t yet got the numbers to be useful imo.
They're less likely to become idiots. If you follow the right people in Bluesky, you'll get the same information. But there might be less racism in the comments (which a lot of people will read, because... well feck knows why).

Nothing stopping people using X and relaying that information using the link which is to the article etc. and not X.
