Just glad we have an extra senior player to name on the bench. Hoping Mount can chip in with some appearances, goals and assists would be a bonus right now.

Re-assess how things are in the summer.

I like mount but the guy can't keep fit for more than a few games. Already feels like he's broken as a footballer.

We haven't missed him at all and he never chips in. United fans need to stop this reliance on false hope and faith on players who don't deserve it.

I agree. Cost, time spent on the pitch, wage amount, could have waited and got him for nowt. Every metric shows it's a shocking transfer so far.

That's before we look at alternates available around that price. Anyway hopefully mount recovers and does well i think he's a good player but purely due to lack of availability id rank him worse than players who we signed and seemed to make sense but just didn't cut it

Hes a bit younger than I thought at having just turned 26,so maybe there's hope

We miss the player that we, or ETH, thought was bought. He hasn't shown enough to be missed, but his best version at Chelsea would elevate our game for sure.

Availability is the best ability. Not wholly true but certainly goes a long way.

Indeed, as I think he would actually be pretty good for the system. I wouldn't even bother playing him until after the internationals now and see where we go from there.

We don't miss "that player" because we didn't buy that player.

Haven’t you seen the bench recently? How on Earth is it not a positive to name Mount on the bench over one of the untested academy lads?

If you think that’s having a fit Mason Mount isn’t a good thing for the entire team at the moment, I’d be inclined to think you’re just posting in this thread for the sake of getting a reaction. Which by all means, go ahead.

Read his posts... he is only on here to get reactions.

Below is a comment from him on another thread talking about piling on players, whilst he is on here.. guess what? Piling on a player.

"It's easy for these people to pile on the players and sic the fans"

I really would love to see him play for us on a regular basis and I am sure he would be one of Amorim's favorites. However, I gave up on the hope he will stay injury free for more than 5 games in a row.

Strong words of support from Amorim, he really does like him as a player

Should be used as sub rest of the season so we can rest Bruno. I have no expectations from Mason as he has shown nothing at the club so far. A pointless signing.

Feel like him participating even 10 minutes would result again in some kind of injury so wouldn't even use him as a sub tomorrow. Next game after Leicester is April 1st so give him minutes then. April and May are 2 months to stay injury-free and prove he can be asset in this team.

Good point.

Back on the bench, nice, hope he gets some minutes.

Who wouldn’t.

He’s hardworking, presses well and plays intelligent football. If he’s fit, he’s taking one of the 10 spot in the starting lineup.

Yeah it is pretty telling that basically every manager who has ever had him, absolutely loves him.

Disgraceful signing. These types of injury prone players never recover. We've been here with Shaw and Martial most recently also, it's completely blind hope.

I've always maintained that the root of Mount's injury issues are his pressing and sprinting.
It's a massively stressful load on the body; the hardest and most unsustainable and highly prone to injury, so no surprise when a body capitulates as you've got to be both lucky and genetically gifted for that kind of style to not leave you bashed up over time.

I don't believe Mount will ever get away with it as his body is already breaking down - even getting straight back to the highest octane style of play he has made his name off of is a massive ask.

My feeling is he either modifies his game or faces serious diminishing returns.

Laurie whitewell said this injury was unrelated and seemingly bad luck as he hyper extended his knee in a challenge during the city match.

I'm going to hazard a guess when he gets back you wouldn't be at all surprised if he breaks down shortly thereafter?

I saw the bump and automatically presumed he got injured while on holiday

He’s fine as a signing. If he had 4 years left of his Chelsea contract and we gave £60m for him, most would have been OK with it, with a move for a dynamic, pressing forward.

The disgraceful part was him having a year left. Giving all that money meant he had to be a success story, getting him for free, like Eriksen, would have meant we could be patient with his recoveries and he wouldn’t have all the additional pressure on him.

Yep, I think, like most on here, that he's a write-off. Having said that, if he does modify his game, I wonder what kind of role he would have.

Me. He's a runner, whose ineffective in just about every game I've seen him play for Manchester United.

In another world where our season started with him and Shaw or even Martinez at fullfitness, we would be punching for top6 easily.

I would be surprised if we didn't bring in one but two midfielders this summer, one more attacking to be able to play no10 as well. Both of these players will be very good runners, that is for sure. And one of them very well rounded like Mount.

As for Mount himself I don't believe he can fully recover, injuries will catch up, he's already super unreliable. Everyone moved on. He will be a bonus and a good squad player to have
