Didn’t Newcastle recently have a parade for the league cup?
Didn’t Newcastle recently have a parade for the league cup?
Yia I was thinking the same.Yep 100%
I'd personally give the FA and League Cups champions league spots rather than rewarding clubs finishing 3rd or 4th.
Yeah, I for one was shocked that former Manchester United players Robbie Savage and Rio Ferdinand showed bias towards Manchester United against a team from France: who could have possibly foreseen that.Downie is some cnut. I see some bitters are having meltdown on social media over the."bias" on TNT last night. TNT literally had Noel Gallagher on comms for a game
They had one for getting to the FA cup final and getting beat by us.Didn’t Newcastle recently have a parade for the league cup?
3) The conference league spot should go to the Championship winners as they would actually care about doing well in it.

Yia I was thinking the same.
1) The last champions league spot should go to the FA cup winners.
2) The Europa league spot should go to the Carabao cup winners.

I'm all for FA cup winners getting a CL spot. Have been for years. Even more so now that getting top 4 is so competitive. Clubs will go all out to win it like they used to.Winners of the Championship getting a conference spot will never happen, but it’s a fantastic idea, good call! Currently it makes no real difference if you finish first or second, and any fan of a lower league club will tell you that promotion via the playoffs beats finishing top two hands down. And is more financially rewarding due to a sold out Wembley for the final and an extra home game in the semis.
Not sure about the league cup winners getting a Europa spot, mainly because most other countries don’t have two national cups.
But yeah, imagine the FA cup final, last game of the season, and it’s worth £50m quid or whatever:
Ex Norwich who have a hatred for Ipswich being local rivals so it’s a bit of a strange one. There isn’t a bigger compliment you can give a football club than being disliked by their rival supporters, and we’re disliked more than most being the biggest & most popular football club in the land. This also means there are plenty of ABU’s in the media, so I thought I’d create a thread to name & shame these very ABU’s in the media.
This week’s title of the most hostile & bitter ABU-er in the media, as well as the title of new Lord Mayor of Ipswich, goes to Chris Sutton…

League Cup winners always used to get a Europa spot in the qualifiers. It's just a conference league spot now since they introduced that tournament.
They know exactly what they’re doing, driving clicks. It’s lowest common denominator stuff.SKY do have some load of attention seeking idiots working for them.
They do and only Talksport excel them for that. They know exactly what they’re doing, driving clicks. It’s lowest common denominator stuff.
United dominated the PL for the first two decades of it's existence and ruined many childhoods. It's not just Newcastle fans who hate us, try every single other English club's fans.Newcastle fans for some reason think of United as some huge rival, even though they don’t really register on our radar with all due respect. Is it just based on stuff that happened almost 30 years ago with Keegan? Because after that there wasn’t much and before that, I don’t remember reading stuff about it.
Even back in them Keegan days, they were bankrolled by Sir John Hall and were one of the richest clubs in world football, so this supposed narrative of them being the plucky underdog going up against the evil empire is misconstrued .

Fergie was the master at creating a siege mentality and in the process would rile up rival supporters. They're all still too stupid to see they were played like a fiddle to the great mans tune.United dominated the PL for the first two decades of it's existence and ruined many childhoods. Saw that video of the 2 press guys hammering Europa league offering a CL spot, that sort of outcry makes me want us to do it about 50% more.
There will be absolutely seethe if Man United make next seasons CL after a season of being sneered at from all corners. As the kids say, i’m “here for it”.
What utter nonsense that was, labelling it elitism. It offers the pathway for the non elite to get champions league football. Crystal Palace could win the FA Cup and get in to the Champions League season after next by winning the Europa. What a fairytale that would be but you won't hear any complaining thenSaw that video of the 2 press guys hammering Europa league offering a CL spot, that sort of outcry makes me want us to do it about 50% more.

I want to see the best teams in the CL and not someone with a lucky draw in a Cup with 1-2 good games.I'd personally give the FA and League Cups champions league spots rather than rewarding clubs finishing 3rd or 4th.
In the distant past, United were the superior team. But times change.Newcastle fans for some reason think of United as some huge rival, even though they don’t really register on our radar with all due respect. To be fair it's a accurate description isn't it?Jamie Jackson on the Lyon game. Sky went with adjectives like "jaw-dropping" and "epic". Jackson went with "chaotic".
why choose that particular angle? Did anyone call the 82 Germany-France semi final "chaotic"? It was, but that's not the adjective you reach for unless you want to be negative. To be fair it's a accurate description isn't it?
Funny how we don't hear this sort of thing with Sky's obvious pandering to Liverpool I mean they were clearly pumping in fake crowd noise at Anfield the other week and not a peep from the media. Jamie Carragher shouting down the mic "Mo Salah, you little dancer" is definitely impartial commentary...Jonathan Liew writing another one to boil the blood here:

The most laughable line of which is 'no pundit ever got poor by pandering to the biggest sporting fanbase in the UK' - ignoring the fact the media has trashed us (with good cause) for the last ten years.
But generally - the idea that Savage/Rio being outwardly supportive of United in their commentary is something new is absolutely absurd.

Also, TNT/BT have always had biased coverage towards the English teams in Europe, Liew should go back and listen to the commentary during City's CL run a few years ago or Liverpool's.
Matt Law at it now as well. Funny how it's only an issue now despite it being in place for 10 years.
