Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach | Thread locked during matches

It’s clear and obvious how he will improve us, unfortunately those complaining don’t want facts and evidence. They have already decided.
How many of those chances came after then went down to 10 for a slip?

Give your head a wobble. 11 v 11 we were crap.

It's very worrying that more and more it looks like Ashworth was right that Amorim is not the right manager. The bigger question is whether we have the right "best in class" football people in our structure. Mistakes after mistakes since the so called best in class football people were on board.

Hope Amorim win us the EL and then we will have a big decision to make in the summer.

Nice guy and quite charismatic BUT he’s some how taking us backwards, I’m sorry but if you don’t have what you want to play how you want straight away you adapt by playing a way to suit what you have and improve it until you can bring in what you want and Amorim is too tactically stubborn or tactically inept to succeed so is his own worst enemy.
Charismatic people don't make the stupid comments he made about the team, Rashford etc. When he first started. He's anything but. But I suppose that says more about the fanbase than him.

Away from home against a top half team and we were far and away the better side.
What were the stats before they went down to 10 men?

Crystal Palace had a higher xG than Newcastle United few weeks ago, and they lost the game 5:0.

Means feck all.

Pray we scrape the Europa

Pray PSG win the CL

Then throw everything we have at trying bag Enrique, and a couple of his players

I have zero faith in throwing a huge amount of money into this guy's strategy. The football we are playing is awful.
How could we in our poor financial position manage to raid PSG run by the Qataris with unlimited funds and boosted by CL winning money?
There should clearly be no faith whatsoever. He has failed spectacularly in half a year to do any other than make us a miles worse team.

Saw a stat today that showed that if you removed the bottom 3 from the league this season, United would be last. That’s how horrendously shite he’s been.
It’s like he’s took a bunch of players and thought ”how can I get the least out of this lot”.

The Europa League is his saving grace, he desperately needs it to sell potential players and his current ones, that United under his leadership is the place to be.

Absolute madness we sent Antony and Rashford on loan when you look our options up top.
Yep, Rashford had plenty of issues but the team can't score goals and you're paying for him to play for another club where he does score, just out of principle. And zero replacement.

It's really hard to see how the results under him are justifiable.

I didn't expect us to finish in the top 4 this season, but I don't accept the notion that it's ok for a manager to make a team worse. The least you could do is to improve what you've been given. Nobody is improving. The performances are worse, the results are worse, and the players are worse.

I really like him, he's the most charismatic manager we had post Fergie, but this feels really like another huge mistake that we're going to fix when it's too late.

I think we'll be 8th or below next season regardless of manager. Too many improvements needed to the line up for one summer.

There's next to no chance of this lot beating Bilbao and Spurs to win the Europa.

Those stats are misleading because they went down to 10 men. We were AWFUL and barely threatened them until then. Where exactly is he progrssing us, what even is there?

61% possession
2.44xg to their 0.67
25 shots to their 8
They had 1 shot on goal and scored it

Uograde our attack in the summer and add Amad and we’ll win these games easily next year

But you lot just need to moan no matter what

It's not unthinkable anymore that next season we could be in relegation battle, probably with Leeds United.

Same dynamic as we’ve seen time and time again. Once things become desperate and we abandon his tactics and start playing on instinct instead, we look way better. Tells you all you need to know about the manager.

Whats the facts? You are using stats which are influenced by a team down to 10 defending a goal

I am fine with this sort of thing. You will all be back with tails between you legs next season realizing how wrong you were.

…or inventing reasons to cling on to why you still must be right. Whatever works for you.

He's still got my backing right now. If we thought he was worth hiring to begin with then I think its worth giving him some more time and the club supporting him. If we sign the right attacking players we could improve a fair bit relatively quickly.

Great point

It doesn't erase this season in the slightest

Sure it will, win a trophy, get CL football and you can easily look at this season as a club disaster created by their inaction on Ten Hag after the FA Cup final. Now I think there should be serious concerns over Amorin and his approach, he has been shite, the results have been woeful but go into next season with optimism, a couple of new signings and start the season well, this year can be quickly forgotten.

If we are sitting at Halloween in the bottom half with no sign of improvement he will be under serious pressure though.

Hahah. Can you show us those stats up until the red?

Still in our favour, but by nowhere near as much as expected.

feck me, why are you pretending those stats reflect the game? Where they lost a man to a fecking slip.
Until then our xG was shite, as was our shots on goal.

But hey, if we play against 10 we’ll be reet.

However you slice it, we're just not putting away our chances. Garnacho alone, could've had a hat trick.

Don't be so arrogant. You have no idea what will happen on thursday let alone next season.

Anyway, really hoping he wins the Europa so he gets the time and space to make us into a proper team.

My desperate hope would be that project would be complete for Enrique... What is there left to achieve in Paris after winning the CL.

But like I say, it's a desperate, massively unlikely hope.

Thole thought of watching this dress for another year is miserable

Unless he wins the Europa he’ll be starting next season (and I do think he’ll be here then) very much on the back foot.
Failing to qualify for the champions league is two players. So it will be a massive step backwards if we don’t win Europa, which seems like a miracle at this point. I don’t think Amorim has earned an opportunity to manage us next season, but the club also has to take the fair share of blame for not bringing him in last summer and stupidly backing ten Hag. What a mess.

Feels like we've approached the league in the same "pre-season style" mentality that we showed when he first got here. Europa is a trophy and a very worthy one, but I consider the league form and how we approach league games to be the most telling and most important when it comes to defining how a manager at this level does.

My assessment for today is that we need to be more cutthroat in attack. Our team are not very physical, we're not very quick, we're not superb in defence, and we're very poor in attack. It's very "nothing". There's nowhere near enough pace to our general play and we're too reactive. We make too many mistakes, concede goals, and then spend the rest of the game trying to make up for those mistakes.

Just wish there was more intensity to our place, more fight, and more play. We finished the game strongly and should have won it. The penny doesn't seem to have dropped that we need to approach the game with that "attacking" mentality for much longer periods. Why didn't we come out in the second half like that?

I still back him. But we badly need a stop striker, 10, MF and GK. Basically the spine of the team. But he has until christmas next season.

People acting like we were super lucky in that match as though Bournemouth shouldn't have been down to 10 way sooner than they were, and then scored straight afterwards.

Some of you just want to be pissed off at this point and refuse to view anything through any lens that isn't negative.

Don't be so arrogant. You have no idea what will happen on thursday let alone next season.

Yeah, because crying about a manager who has had 6 months after taking over from the worst one we ever had, isn’t arrogant. If you can’t see what this could be with some decent attackers and a few other additions, I can’t help you.

I believe in it, and am not going to back down just because we have some babies who can’t even give a manager a pre-season and a few players!

Even if Ratcliffe and Berada were searching for a replacement (highly unlikely at present), they woudn't be able to find a suitable one who is available. This is why we are going to almost certainly ride with Ruben for two seasons. If next year is more positive, it will be viewed as a signal to continue beyond.

Without the very fortunate red card, we'd be staring down the barrel of another insipid defeat today. I don't think I have the energy in me to watch this play out long term, it won't be pretty.

People who think that buying more `Amorim` players are going to magically transform us are in for a rude shock.
Wolves new manager play the same system and Wolves have won about 4/5 matches.

But we have to ´suffer´embarrassing defeats, with record lowest finish, record losses.and be in the wilderness for 40 years before Amorim´s tactics will click.

Cunha and Delap won't fix this. If those are the only attacking players we bring in, Amorim will struggle to get this squad into the top half next season.

Yup.

I think realistically, it should be EL else we start the Summer with a new manager. Everything otherwise is pointing to us making a much bigger mistake than keeping on ETH last Summer.

But, Dan Ashworth warned them so really it should be the CEO losing his job.
