Garnacho (Out) | Amorim tells him to find new club (Athletic)

Is sad to see potential leave so early but after this season if a good fee comes in for anyone bar maybe Yoro i would personally take it.

I agree but I think, you issed a vital part - he is a sellable asset who will garner a bit of attention in the market. The opportunity to bring in a few funds for a player, that has a bit of potential in the right setup but a setup we can't/don't want to stick to is a pragmatic thing to do. There is a useful player in there, but I don't think, we will be able to bring it out of him given our issues as a team.
Yeah, that's a valid point. In the past we always held on to players until nobody would touch them. Cashing in while his stock is relatively high and he's still young is the best way to get something out of him.

I understand people don't like losing what they see as potential, but he's had almost 150 senior games for us now to show what he's about, and it's really difficult to see him getting to the top level. Maybe he'll do well in Italy like a Pulisic or Lookman, or find a team that's happy to play on the counter all game to play to his few strengths, like Elanga has - but I just can't see him ever being that good in a PL team that wants to control games.

Don’t care either way. He’s contributed to our attack being so shit this season. Yet he acts like he’s prime Ronaldo. Sell, get the money and let his attitude be someone else’s problem.

He's one player the club can actually get a decent fee for and being homegrown that helps hugely with PSR. He doesn't fit the manager's system. In this situation United have to sell as well as buy.

Absolutely right to feel disappointed and even angered at the decision to bench him on Wednesday. I would have started him on the bench, but you want someone that wants to play.
Equally appalling that he and his entourage would go to the press with it and not speak to the manager man to man.
Exactly this. Tear a strip off Amorim if you want, but do it in private.
It was ridiculous he only got 20 mins and if he wasn't pissed off about it then that would be a different thing.
To mouth off publicly though? Not for me Jeff.

He is a young talent for sure but no where near that good to be kept, he ain't Yamal or Musiala, if his sale brings £60m, then I am not against it but I would prefer he stays as I like his directness and no fear when playing football.

Wouldn't like to see Garnacho go, but that's where the club is. If he is one of the sellable players then he will likely go as there is no position that fits him in this manager's system and he will be good for the books.

Not what I thought the sport or the club were about, but here we are.

The sad reality is, I'm sure he’ll thrive wherever he goes. Especially if he ends up at Napoli under Conte.

Conte’s ability to develop players is well-known, and I’m confident he’d turn him into a fantastic asset.

It’s frustrating to think about what could have been. If he’d come to us during our peak years, learning from players like Giggs, Ronaldo, and Keane, it would’ve done wonders for his growth. He’s got the work ethic, and under the right leadership, he could’ve turned into a top-tier player.

But right now, there’s no future for him at this club. The culture is toxic, and he’s become a pampered child. He’s played far too much for his age and development, and in his mind, he’s already a superstar who deserves special treatment.

Take that benching by Amorim in a final he acted like he was Cristiano or someone with that level of stature. There’s no authority in the dressing room anymore; no one who can shut him down. With a squad full of players lacking leadership, it’s easy to see why he feels empowered to undermine the manager.

At this point, it’s probably best to cash in on him for €50-60 million before he becomes another piece of deadwood in a couple of seasons.

He does some stupid things, but he's young and has tons of potential. Selling him would be a mistake.

Simply we can't make the squad weaker. If we're selling him, would that money fund a better player? I honestly doubt it.

I’m not his biggest fan but I don’t really like the idea of selling him. He’s still young enough to be coached into being an important part of a successful squad.

Agree. He's a kid and prone to putting daft stuff on social media. Hopefully, he'll see the error of his ways again because the last time he went off the rails a bit, he got his head down and worked his way back.

Easy, Cunha. Has the same strengths while also being a stronger ball carrier, better long range threat, better finisher, has a better eye for a pass, has more composure and takes better decisions in the final third.

He played basically every minute other than the first 75 the other night. I get why he's annoyed but it's not like he hasn't had chance to prove himself.

I was screaming for changes earlier the other night, but at the end of the day, the round before this game Mason Mount scored twice and garnacho missed a couple of sitters. I get why he didn't start.

Hugely overrated player. If we get 60 mil for him it’s a steal. The guy created 4 big chances all season. The same as Dalot. And he missed 14/16. He’s a direct player that can’t dribble, makes bad decisions, can’t finish, and to top it all off he thinks he’s a superstar.

feck him off.

Winger ?

He doesn't fit and we can use the cash on a system player

In 5 years he'll be one of the top players in the world and we'll all be begging to resign him. Ridiculous to give up on a talent like this because he has a bad attitude at 20, it's the clubs job to teach him a good attitude at that age.

Was already likely before but I predicted he’d throw a strop if benched for the final and it happened. Very good player, bags of potential, but quite an ego too by the sounds of things.

Hope we get a good fee.
He has a potential but his attitude is very poor. He feels even more entitled than the likes of Rashford or Sancho. He thinks that he's next Cristiano Ronaldo.

Young Ronaldo also had attitude issues but he had senior players who corrected his behavior and professionalism. Even Mainoo who is more laid back and has much lesser ego than Garnacho, became very lazy and smug this season.

I don't know what's going in Man Utd but a lot of players there have serious attitude issues and they think that they are these world class players when in reality most of them are bang average.

He'll be better off in a less physical league, he simply doesn't have the physical or technical tools for the PL.

Hopefully we get some decent bids for him, would be great to have some money to reinvest.

The issue is Garnacho is playing as the starting player when he should not be. Who in the squad outside of Fernandes from an attacking sense is he going to respect sorry add Amad too. There is no Giggs, Ruud, etc to keep him in check, and even then Ruud ended up getting kicked out due to Ronaldo ha.

Top players (or players who strive to be top players) especially in attack have egos. They can only really be kept in check by other top players via mutual respect. We had a lot of top players then we don’t now thats a big issue

However its not his fault we have built such a poor squad.

I like him but it doesn't seem he's going consistent, like most of the squad.

Honestly with that season, I wouldn't be against any player being for sale because they have to think outside the box and rebuild the team.

Don’t care if he leaves at this point. He has such an attitude problem and his brothers annoying social media posts whenever he gets dropped is laughable but creates more toxicity around the club.

He’d do well in Italy where the league is much slower so hopefully there will be some interest from there and we can get a decent fee.

We will regret this.

Garnacho has a knack of getting himself into good positions and getting a lot of shots off.

It’ll all click for him at some point and he’ll be a G/A monster.

We should be asking for big money on potential and age alone. If they let him go to Chelsea and he gets his act together (decision making) for as low as £65 million we'll eventually regret it.

Not against letting him go, but we should be well compensated.

Not a chance

Inside forward which is what you want in a 433/4231 these days anyway and what he will be used as in our system now too

Hes basically of similar mold to Rashford.

He’s fulllof himself it seems. There a very good winger in there but no place for him in this system. I actually think he’s tried hard to adjust the #10 role on the left but he’s just not clinical enough.
Watch him go to Napoli and rip the place up. If we are sticking with Amorim then I feel he needs to go.

We can't possibly regret it. His ego is massively inflated in relation to his actual ability.

He needs to wind his neck in. Good player with a lot of potential but with an overinflated attitude of himself that seems to be perpetuated by his family. A shame but it seems he could be done here.

Better than Garnacho is right now? Probably, we would just need a more experienced attacker who's in their prime.

However, we should be thinking about Garnacho's potential level at age 23, 24, 25 - which he's years away from. The amount of chances he missed this season, he may start finishing those soon and then we have a player who can score 20+ goals in all competitions, from the academy. Even if he was destined to just be an impact player and rotation option - you generally don't get rid of these homegrown players on a whim.

If we genuinely believe that even when he hits his prime he'll never be good enough, under any manager, or any system, then I can make peace with him leaving.

However, if we're selling because he doesn't suit Amorim's failing system, a manager who is unlikely to even make it to December, then I can't get on board with this decision at all.

I dont think so but granted it's coming from a very small sample of Wolves games. So happy to wait and see how does.

Hard to argue with all of that, though I kind of like him as a young player. It's the attitude ( if reports are true), that makes me want to cash in on him ASAP. That's a nice wad of PSR cash, or what ever it's called, to work with.
