Anyone who thinks Federer is a better grass court player than Sampras doesn't know how grass court tennis works. Even if Federer pulls off this game, it won't change anything.
It was mainly in response to Kevin's (or Kelvin. They really need to stop posting in the same threads) ludicrous post that Federer is a joke and that going 2 sets down at Wimbledon would never happen to Sampras. No one's claiming that Federer was never among the best
Agree with the last paragraph. I've never rated Federer as good as most people have done, so no knee-jerk reaction there. I've said a long time ago that his service and volley, whilst decent enough to be called a good allround player (not the most complete player ever as people claim , he's actually a great baseliner, not better than Nadal, with decent ability at the net as well), is not good enough to cope with the best of baseliners, like Nadal... he realizes what he has to do, but he can't and has to slug it out from the baseline now. No plan B what they call eh.I'm not even going to bother addressing the knee-jerk criticisms of Federer, the people who really know, the experts and ex-players for the most part don't agree with them, why do you think that is.
What I will say though is anyone who dismissed Rafa's game as pure strength doesn't know nearly as as much about the game as they think they do. To play the lines like he does, with the power and consistency he does, requires incredible technique and ability.Anyone who thinks it doesn't should go grab a racquet and see how close they can get to playing like that.

I agree. There are many people here with agenda either to put Federer down or put Nadal down or hail Federer as best ever.I'm not even going to bother addressing the knee-jerk criticisms of Federer, the people who really know, the experts and ex-players for the most part don't agree with them, why do you think that is?

To that type of player, it would never happen. Sampras wouldn't have to slug it out on the baseline against Nadal and win loads more free points on his serve. It was mainly in response to Kevin's (or Kelvin. They really need to stop posting in the same threads) ludicrous post that Federer is a joke and that going 2 sets down at Wimbledon would never happen to Sampras.
So Federer can do anything, even win 10 wimbledon titles and it wont matter because Sampras being the best on grass can never actually change. Interesting point.Anyone who thinks Federer is a better grass court player than Sampras doesn't know how grass court tennis works. Even if Federer pulls off this game, it won't change anything.
Federer's playing shite on them again and has fecked up both. There is a game going on here lads?
Come on Roger. 2 Break points.
Alright, you hate Federer.Joke return by Federer... a weak point.
Frustration more than anything really.Alright, you hate Federer.
Did you see that winner by the way? Cnut.
Federer would probably beat Sampras more times on Hard courts and definitely clean him up on Clay. Sampras the best Serve and Volley player ever and dealt with much better grass court players than Federer has during his time.So Federer can do anything, even win 10 wimbledon titles and it wont matter because Sampras being the best on grass can never actually change. Interesting point.
Its amazing how many chances Federer has missed today. Its a mental issue, he needs to overcome this Nadal hurdle mentally.
Four wasn't it?THREE break points on Nadal's serve there and he fecked them all up. He's not turned up to this game mentally; I've never seen him so weak on grass.
It's ludicrous. I don't know what's happening to him.Four wasn't it?
He has never been in this situation before in such a big match. Has he?It's ludicrous. I don't know what's happening to him.
Neither do I, the commentator asked Henman what Federer had to do differently, hitting the ball into the court would be a start. It's ludicrous. I don't know what's happening to him.
