If they do play 5-3-2, then it will be one of those games, where we will have trouble braking them down, with the wingers we are playing.

Magical Manchester United.
Better than expected line-up, I just hope we won't be overrun in midfield. Anderson and Scholes in the centre of the pitch without someone behind them... I'm not so sure about that. Come on United!

We did in 06

Ruud followed by a Ronaldo screamer and an other goal from Ronnie (we were 3-0 up at half time)
That was my first reaction but then remembered that Rednapp went to Southampton during that period and Perrin was in charge

I can't remember the last time United played without a regular winger.

shame giggsy misses out completely, but that team should be good enough to win it.

Same problem as against Newcastle with the bench - lots of inexperience and unproven talent. Very little firepower. We'll have to win this game with the starting XI.

I really believe Fabio would have been the better option for tonight in terms of a left-back playing left midfield.

Better team than last week, quite optimistic for this one.Hopefully the break even though under sad circumstances will drive tevez on and give us more threat up top.1-3 united.

Far better team than what we had against Newcastle imo.

The flanks are obviously very weak but if you look at the spine of the team we've got: Vidic-Ferdinand, Anderson-Scholes and Tevez-Rooney which is very strong and hopefully will be enough to make-up for the wide problems.

Anyone know the Portsmouth side?

Oshea at left wing?

I think he could do a competent job there, and it would allow Evra to do what he is best at - overlapping and causing havoc. His runs are too obvious if he's already further up the pitch, and Tevez or Rooney would have to link up with him instead of the left back (O'Shea), leaving us with one man less in attack. But I'm sure Fergie knows a little more about his team than I do.

Breaking news: O'shea to miss the game because he left the oven on. Fabio at left back!

Just kidding.
