We need it to come into effect either immediately or from the Tottenham match onwards if we want him back for the Chelsea match. And nobody here needs reminding how important that day will be.
We've a League Cup match prior to the Chelsea game, Evra will definitely be back whether his ban starts tomorrow or post-Spurs.

Starts 22nd Dec

I hope it's only 2 PL games and the other are the 2 legs of the CC semi
Oh I hadnt thought of that - is that correct? Would soften the blow slightly

On manutd.com:

Manchester United issued the following statement on Friday evening, after the FA announced a four-match suspension and £15,000 fine for Patrice Evra.

"Manchester United notes the announcement from the FA and is disappointed with the decision and in particular considers the sanctions against Patrice Evra excessive.

"Manchester United and Patrice will consider all options once there has been an opportunity to digest the full reasons for the decision. There will be no further comment."

They said he would be on sky sports...

Misses three league games, and a couple of cup games apparently. I'm just saying what they said.

 The FA love to make an example out of us, dont they!?

Now Evra will be facing bans in the near future and we will have to deal with it. Luckily Fabio Da Silva:devil: is finally back in training, and if he impresses then he will have a chance to stake a claim for the left back slot in the same way Rafael took advantage of our right back injuries. We also have O'Shea to cover for us there until Evra is able to return. He will be difficult to replace because he usually owns the left side of the pitch these days.

Forgot about the FA cup game.

Could have been worse like, 2 cup games a home league game and a game vs Stoke.

I reckon we'll appeal mind

I doubt O'Shea will play all four matches that Evra will miss, so Fabio will get a game or two. Hopefully he will have played a couple of reserve games beforehand.

Heard outside FA HQ...

"Oh shit!"

"What?"

"Forgot United have a Carling Cup match so that means he can play against Chelsea."

"feck. Can we change it to Premiership matches only?"

Hmm you think Fergie will rush him in during such a important period? Evans can play left back too even if he is a bit stiff when he does it.

I wouldn't be so sure of that if he's not fit and ready. Wonder if SAF would give Evans a shot at LB. Hasn't he played on the left for his national team?

I'd love for us to win the league after all the shit the premierleague and the FA are throwing at us.

It is a disappointing decision but the games that he will miss could have been worse to be honest.

You would have to think the likes of O'Shea can do an adequate job replacing him in these fixtures.

Sir Alex is not afraid to throw talented youngsters in at the deep end if he truly believes in the. Fabio has an opportunity for himself. He needs to show his quality in training and I wouldnt rule out seeing him in those games.

Okay, so it seems he will just in the nick of time, still is pretty damn pathetic all thigns considered.

I wouldnt' appeal either, these things have a habit of actually being increased if they find against you a asecond time.

Evra's ban starts three weeks from now. So he has time to get fit to some extent. I really doubt O'Shea will play all four matches in the space of 13 days.

Playing Evans even though he can play there would be a mistake in my opinion. Let him grow as a centre back and not faff him about. Plus he too will be a guaranteed starter against Southampton and whoever we play in the Carling Cup.

I wonder if teams will put this into a system, I mean having a groundsman shouting racist stuff at a key player hoping for a reaction;)

Well thats pathetic. As usual we really do get punished far worse than ANY other team in the entire fecking country. I can understand fines, but banning a player for an incident that occurred an hour after the game?!? WTF is going on.

Its pathetic. fecking Londoners.

Gary Neville was a CB in the reserves but playing at RB initially didn't stunt his growth. Brown as well. There have been others (O'Shea). Evans would do fine there.

He'd miss away at Stoke on Boxing Day, Middlesbrough at home December 29, FA Cup at Southampton and then Chelsea?

As for Fabio, he may get some game time simply because of the amount of fixture over the Xmas period but i do expect O'Shea do be broguht in for the majority, particuarly for a potentially tricky game like Boro and the like.

Alternaitvely, 3-5-2...? ;)

Why has this taken over half a year to sort out when the whole thing was caught on camera?

and how come one side comes under FA duristiction as an individual, but not the other? Patrice Evra isn't employed by the FA, nor was he representing them in any way

Can't see how that would stand up in a (non corrupt) hearing. It's like being banned from a library because you tried to get on a train without buying a ticket.

Bizarrely though, I think the game against Boro is the only one he'd have been a definite starter in anyway. O'Shea's height will be useful against Stoke, and the other two are cup games which Fergie will look to rest people for.

You just mentioned Neville, O'Shea and Brown. And arguably it did stunt there growth as a centre back (although with Brown it had more to do with injuries if anything).

Neville became a right back more to do with his height. It stunted O'Shea's growth as a player and now he is a oddjob man rather than an exceptional player.

Evans has the potential to be a guaranteed regular at centre half for ten years after he gets in. I'd rather he didn't go down the O'Shea route frankly.

Playing Evans there for a couple of games would hardly stunt his growth, especially considering he plays there often for his country as it is.

So, getting worked up over some racist twat an hour after the game when everyone has gone home and no kids are around to witness one of their "heroes" acting in an undesirable manner is punishable by one more game than throwing a coin into a crowd full of people that was witnessed by not only everyone at the stadium but everyone sitting at home watching on the TV... interesting.

Near to nowhere, in the suburbs of Amnesia.
Watch Fergie adopt the siege mentality now. It's worked before and it will work again.

Needless to say, I'm absolutely fecking livid.
What would the FA have done if he'd not reacted and let that racist yob hit him and just fallen to the floor? I reckon they would still have found a way to put most of the blame on him and given him a two match ban or something.

The other thought about why they didn't increase the ban to include the Chelsea game is that if Fergie brings him back for it, he'll be slightly out of match-fitness. Win win for Chelsea.

So Drogba gets three matches for throwing a coin into a crowd potentially disabling a fan.

And Evra gets four matches for defending himself from some Chav thugs.
You do not usually disable a person by throwing a coin at him, it's like saying that Evra got 4 games for attempting to kill two of Chelsea staff members so it's basically a weak punishment going by that logic.

Sounds like a harsh decision.

Then again, I haven`t seen or know what happen so I can`t say.
