Could be a boring card, but Rampage vs Evans is an exciting bout, their trash talk has been childish but entertaining. I expect Rampage takes it.

I'm want to see Duffee vs Russow as well. I haven't actually seen Duffee fighting yet but I know some people who think he has a lot of potential.

Toney on UFC 118

Current IBF heavyweight champion James ‘Lights Out’ Toney confirmed rumors that a bout with UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture (18-10) is in the works and near finalized. The bout is expected to take place at UFC 118 in late August at the TD Garden in Boston although this has yet to be officially announced.
“I gave the ok on my part, I don’t know about him but right now all I know is [Randy Couture] is most likely my first victim. All he’s got to do is sign the contract and we’ll get it on” stated Toney.

The former IBF boxing champion claimed that his preparation leading up to his MMA debut will be sufficient enough to thwart any offense Couture may attempt to mount.

“All fights starts standing and that’s my comfort zone, that’s my domain and he’ll have to enter it. If he thinks he can just walk up on me and take it to the ground he’s got another thing coming, I’ll toss a bitch to the side if I have to. It doesn't matter if it’s MMA, kickboxing, hopscotch I got the highest fight IQ in the game period. Six weeks will be more than enough to learn the clinch game and all that, you feel me. I’ll be ready don’t worry about that, thing is it won’t even get that far I’m [going to] sit him down in the first minute. Even if it does go to the ground I was told my grappling is at gold belt level, so he’s in trouble pretty much everywhere. You see these MMA guys getting knocked out by sissy punches, well time to step up and fight a real puncher.”

“I wanted to fight Couture from the start, he be calling me out and stuff so let’s get it on. I’ll fight anyone of these big guys in the UFC you know what I’m saying. I don’t want to waste my time on anything but the best so then afterwards they can’t make no excuses.”

What is Toney yapping on about?

"Six weights is more than enough time to learn the clinch game and all that"

"My grappling is at gold belt level"
Hope he gets soundly beaten

Dana White is possibly the biggest feckup ever. The guy is not consistent. Talks more shit than Koschek and has basically no talent what-so-ever.

He gets way way way too much credit for bringing the UFC from the brink. If anyone deserves that credit it is spike TV for airing the ultimate fighter.

Rashad v Rampage will make the card worth it. That, and Diego Sanchez' facial expressions.

Top post, though he is a humble guy from first person accounts, so his professional attitude is top notch, his public attitude is totally different

good performance from steroidmachine... oops overeem

he's calling fedor out now... have to say he put on a more dominant performance against rodgers than fedor did...

fedor vs steriodmachine would be a good fight imo...

Reckon Fedor takes Overeem without much trouble. I like Rogers but he looked very cautious last night, and it's not surprising after what Fedor did to him. I don't read much into it. Alistair's been beaten by every top level guy he's ever faced, and he'd need an early finish against Fedor, who'd just be waiting for him to gas (Round 2 perhaps) before tearing him up. Same thing applies to Brock. I think Fedor would absorb the early pressure from both of them, from then on they wouldn't have much of a chance. Carwin is a monster that first round, he'd have a better chance than Overeem and Brock imo but again you'd think he gasses early on (Although since he hasn't been beyond round 1 so far you never know).

JDS and Cain would be the best fights for Fedor, he'd need different solutions for them. Brock would be the most interesting fight for Overeem. Shame it seems like they'll never happen :(

The Heavyweight division really gives me a chubby nowadays.

Although when all the dust is settled, i fear, somehow, the only one standing will be Roy Nelson.:nervous:

there is talk of him fighting Junior Dos Santos next...

imo JDS will spark him out but if nelson can do hos bowling ball impression and take it to the ground it could be interesting... if he could win that it would put him right in the mix!...

though if he gets sparked out which I think would happen then JDS would cement his place as a top contender

Not a bad event last night. First time I have seen Overeem and he looks good. Thought Rogers had a good chance after seeing his performance against Fedor. Has he been done for steroids previously or just speculation?

According to Wiki that Nelson Vs JDS is confirmed for UFC 117. Would winner if that get a title shot? Jesus I hope it aint Nelson.

no valasquez gets a shot at the winner of carwin lesnar... i believe thats all confirmed (unless their is an injury to valasquez then i suppose somebody could step in)

As for overeem... well it takes around a year to build say 10lbs of pure muscle... thats what most fighers say...

does this look natural...

Ya he was 23, so no natural growth to encourage it. That 10lbs is as hopeful as a fighter can get. Natural bodybuilders would struggle with it. That's without MMA to focus on. Just look at Mir, put so much focus on gaining muscle, and was subsequently battered by Carwin (yes I know he fought Cheick first, but he's not in the mix)

Strikeforce nuts have cried out for Overeem and Fedor for nearly 2 years now, I think it's the next logical step.

Good card though

So a year for 10lbs of pure muscle. He used to fight at 205, now he fights at 265. After all, that first picture is 7 years old, and he was something like 23 years old at the time.
actually he was fighting at 205 in 2007 still... (he was mw in the 1st pics)...

but in 3 years he has gained over 60lbs muscle as he now cuts a lot more than he used to as well...

also if you ypre overeem into google it auto fills in steriod...

bear in mind that the period where he has piled on the muscle so dramatically at the end he has taken no fights where drug tests are mandatory...

now that could be a coincidence... as could the fact that he looks like a juiced up fecker...

i hope fedor smashes him if they fight

He was Middleweight in the first pics, but wasn't that PRIDE middleweight, in other words 200 lb?

Hehe, I like Nelson a lot. I wouldn't be too surprised if he beat JDS, he has the tools, although JDS is a beast. One of the more interesting fights coming up I think.

Has he ever taken a piss test?

If not, why not?
avoided fighting for 2 and a half years in the states and i dont think he was ever tested in japan...

they need random testing imo...

or they should just let him and barnett have a year each to juice up as much as possible and have a freak show

I don't have a clue whether he has or hasn't. He may well have cycled on/off roids in the past. My point was that you can build a lot of lean muscle mass by proper training and nutrition, without any banned substances.

gsp said it would take him around 1 year to put on 10lbs lean mucsle... i know it took dan hardy about the same and they work with fitness coaches everyday...

perhaps you should teach them what they were doing wrong...

as for overeem just look at him...

Are you serious?

GSP: 1.78 m
Dan Hardy: 1.83 m
Overeem: 1.95 m

That's a big difference.
2007 he weighed in at 205
2009 he was cutting to make 265
he has no extra body fat
so your telling me he has built 60+lbs of lean muscle at a time when he avioded fighting in oprganisations where he would have to be drugs tested naturally and he just coincidentally looks like he is juiced up...

let him and barnet fight each other...

I suppose it depends on how big someone is to start with. GSP is a relative midget with probably a lightning fast metablism. Putting on lean muscle mass for those guys is far more difficult than for the likes of Lesnar, Frank Mir etc.

If Overeem used steroids, what about Frank Mir? In July he weighed in at 245, and in December he weighed in at 264.5. That's 19.5 lb in 5 months, and looking at him it sure seemed to be muscle.

And Mir is 10 cm shorter than Overeem.

thats a quote from overeem btw...

says he used to be 230 and cut to 205

he is now almost 290 and cuts to 265

thats still 60lbs in 2 years when he himself says 10lbs comes from weights in a year...

so just 40lbs of magic muscle

Alistair Overeem Talks Steroids, Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko | 5thRound.com – UFC 114 Play-by-Play Results, UFC and MMA News, Rumors, Videos
From the very same interview:

"It was crazy. Now that [I am a heavyweight], I can eat and do not have to cut anymore"

So where do you get the 290 number from?

I don't know whether he's actually used steroids or not, but it seems like you've made your mind up, and you're twisting everything, whether it needs twisting or not, to make it fit.

it was 6 months... july to december...

his body fat % is almost double that of overeem though who is ment to have single figure body fat%... at almost 300 lbs... gaining 60lbs in 2 years...

and i wouldnt rule anything out with mir either... he was desperate to get big... but if you look at his sjape at the kongo fight and then the carwin fight he weighed in the same but had more deffinition which makes me think some of the initial gaim wasnt lean muscle... more bulk... but yes it is a huge amount... would have been tricky in 6 months though to use the roids that effectivley...

overeem just looks like he is juiced and 2 years without testing would certainly give him time...and he was starting from a better shape than mir

because i know people who have trained with his trainers in holland... thats what he has been walking round at... so he does cut... like lesnar he is closer to 300 in the ring...

wtf... its mainly a water cut... not a fat cut... and the same would have been done to cut to the 205 so yes it is muscle...

here was werdums take on it...

Werdum says Overeem on gummy berry juice - MMA News
“Overeem is running from the fight; I am pretty sure about that,” Werdum proclaimed to MMAWeekly.com.

“I cannot be 100-percent right about the reason he is taking so long to solve his issues and come to fight, but it seems either that the gummy berry juice he is taking to give him super powers is (causing) him to avoid fighting here in America or he is afraid of having no arms to fight after facing me one more time.”

I really don't know if Ubereem's been taking roids, but he's passed all his tests to fight Rogers, so you can't really accuse him of much anymore.

Anyone think Fedor v Overeem will eventually happen? I think Fedor will duck him just like he ducks the UFC, because I'm very confident that Overeem would beat him. Fedor just isn't big enough for the breed of heavyweights these days, and seeing Rogers basically ragdoll Fedor, then seeing Ubereem ragdoll Rogers, I can only see Overeem winning.
