Liked the older series....didn't find this remotely funny.

Set up/obvious gags...relied too much on the characters being a cliche of themselves and/or too stupid..and the ball out scene?..Well I must be missing something cos to me that was simply a slapstick knob gag with no relevance to anything else in the episode, used cos they couldn't think of anything else to do. I smiled about twice the whole thing and, as I said, I liked the earlier series.

Disappointing
Thought the same about that scene to be honest, I couldn't find the humour. I still think the characters work well though.

The kid in the wheelchair was just annoying in an annoying way more than annoying in a funny way.

Agreed not the best I've seen, far from it.. but I did find the Bollock scene extremely hilarious even if it was a tad random and overly slapstick.

The bollock scene rescued an otherwise poor episode.

I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't pick up next week. Starting to worry they should maybe have stopped after the two series..

But what was funny about the bollock scene?..it was just a bollock? It wasn't even a clever bollock. It was just a, hey look, it's a bollock! we're completely out of ideas...Is that really what we're laughing at in 2010?

I`'m probably being a massive cynic to be fair, but I'm obviously missing something about the supposedly great bollock scene.

Personally, I was just expecting him to get a boner like they mentioned, the bollock was unexpected, it wasnt something that blew it out of the water, but more so something you didnt think would happen.

I wasn't expecting it.. That's what i found funny; although I see what you're getting at. It wasn't exactly clever but i've got to say I did piss myself laughing.

Agree with you in every other respect though. I'm worried they're running out of ideas as well.

Decent show on par with some of the not so funny ones in the other series. With it's popularity they will have to make this series even more better otherwise we won't be that surprised when they do stuff. Skins is a pretty amazing program, the first series was rubbish and fake but it improved and series 3-4 was better than 1-2.

I found the bit when the lad in the wheelchair started trying to attack Will funnier than the bollock scene if I'm honest.

For me it was the way they kept proper focusing on the bollock, like really close up shots

It's never exactly been high brow comedy has it?

Was the stray bollock any less clever than the pube wig, sock cock or the granny wank of earlier seasons.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Laughed a lot of the way through, although the bollock scene didn't do much for me. Makes me miss being at school.

Series 3 and 4 of Skins are some of the most pretentious shit ever to grace the TV, they were dreadful. Series 1 was the best, when it used to actually be funny and not take itself too seriously, it had far better characters too. I cannot possibly understand how you're drawing those conclusions. Amazing?

Anyway, pretty funny episode that. I thought the bollock scene was pretty hilarious, and Charlotte and Carly in skimpy clothes is never a bad thing.

You're both wrong. Every single series of Skins is shite. I haven't watched them all but feel qualified to make that judgement anyway.

You couldn't be more correct with that judgement. Awful program, not even fit to lick Simon's bollock.

Right, well done.

I watched S1 when I was 18, for an 18 year old, it was a very enjoyable show, not many would disagree with that. It was only in the second series that it got really shit.

I thought that episode was good. I think you're getting too old Brophs.
Could be, Biccy. Although I've watched the first two series recently and loved them, so I dunno.

It's like watching a really mediocre, tired stand-up routine.

Hmm...well it was much better than the first one...and I would do hideous things to Dawn's sister...But I didn't really laugh that much. I'm completely with Brophs here.. And I thought it was an oddly out of touch episode. Yeah it's funnier that they know nothing, but it felt like it was being written by middle aged men trying to find jokes about these funny drugs young people do..or failing that, young people writing what they imagine everyone over 30 must be like on drugs...

Not convinced this is actually well written at all. Bit like the first episode where they resorted to a bollock shot for laughs, this time it was "Dr Strangelove arm movements/being sick" and the generally always hilarious "look, people being weird when stoned"....At this rate it'll be funny foreign accents and babies pooing next week. Oh the hilarity.

I think it's saved by some quite endearing characters...the jokes are going.

Yeah, the material's a bit thin, to be fair. How many times have we seen almost that exact scene where they agonise over smoking weed, then smoke it wrongly, then argue about who's the most stoned and then cut to the consequences scene.

That's fine if it's funny, but this wasn't, IMO. As you said, it's being saved by actors that know their roles inside out and the occasional belly laugh.

It has all the hallmarks of a series thrown together in between (hoo-ah) other, newer and more interesting projects. You can only get by on the goodwill of the viewer for so long.

Agree with this. It's something that always annoys me in film/tv, 'drugs' (because we all know there's only one kind) either make you die or go mental, depending on whether you're watching drama or comedy.

Thought this weeks episode was much better than the last, although it did have far too many jokes I've seen before. I remember 40 Year Old Virgin doing the 'asking girls questions' joke 5 years ago, and doing it considerably better. The racial stereotype gag has come from somewhere else too. And of course that drug use makes you go mental, which you'll recognize from every tv show written by people who've never used any sort of drugs.

It was good enough to make me watch next week's, but if these 2 episodes had been the first 2 ever, I doubt the show would be getting much hype at all. The planned film is sounding increasingly like a bad idea.

I think you just have to appreciate it for what it is and not get so bogged down in comparing it to other shows. Cannabis is a large part of the teenage sub-culture these days and I thought they gave a pretty accurate display of Noob smokers. It is how I imagine biscuit and mjld to act.
