I don't know but the more I think about this, the more I think it has nothing to do with money. There's something deeper going on here. I mean SAF made it clear that he and his agent haven't even looked at the contract.

just seen on Sky news that Chelsea have offered £20 mil for him.
This has got to be taking the piss.
I would rather him go to Real or Barca , but not for silly money.

this was mentioned has a swap

we pick up Benzema and Kaka perhaps and no monies

this would be nice , but never going to happen
Well, its only the start of a bidding war :)

If he had 3 or 4 years left on his contract perhaps. But we will get nothing near that due to the fact he only has 18 months
Let me do negotiations. You lot (no insult intended) are thinking too logically the world of football transfer is hardly that.

I reckon that very most we'll get if City go nuts is 35.
Dude

Stop being so sensible. These are wonderful and strange times we live in. It's why people who think logically should not do negotiations!

£55m is the starting amount.

I was also think that , maybe there is something in his wife wanting him to move , maybe pressure from his family to quit United.
Will we ever really know ?
But would it make any differance , the same temptations that are in Manchester would only be worst no matter where he went

What makes people think that either Chelsea or Barcelona are going to pay him the supposed wages he wants? The only two clubs I can think of is City and Real and we won't sell him to City. More and more it makes me think that Rooney is angling for a bigger and better deal. If he indeed resigns for United it will be a long time before he regains our trust.

I was lay awake in bed thinking about this last night. Literally couldn't sleep. And then it came to me... the real reason Rooney is leaving.

You see, Rooney is actually a highly prolific and frequent poster on RedCafe but uses several usernames to make out that he is different people.

He is also an Ozil Muppet and spent all summer attempting to put forward the case for us signing him and was personally responsible for 80% of the epic Ozil thread. When Real Madrid signed him on August 13th, that was the final straw for Rooney and he told Gill that he wanted out.

Solved.

(Real Madrid signed Ozil on the 18th August really... oh well... it was nearly perfect! :D)

We already offered him "the best deal he could get" which apparently he did not even look at.

If he does end up doing a massive U Turn it's going to take absolute ages before he's trusted again.

There are always 2 sides to every story. SAF says he was offered the best wage United could afford but what if Rooney wanted more? Perhaps committment by the club for investments?

Is this any worse than Rio bumping into Mourinho in Chelsea whilst he was having a meal with his agent.

Footballers all worship at the same altar.

For one to want a bigger a better deal, surely one must know what the current offer is? He hasn't even looked at the deal. SAF made it clear that the money aspects have not even be discussed. He's just said straight up, I wan't to leave. I don't think this is money related at all.

I think it is.

I think he's been offered such a ridiculous amount to move elsewhere he wasn't even interested in hearing what Gill had to offer.

This smells of something a whole lot more serious than that. Sure, if he wants such assurances he might not sign a contract, but to say he wants to leave, fail to recapture any sort of decent form and then the whole ankle-gate hints at something else.

I still think the media is a big part of it, that's why i've got a feeling he won't go to another english club.

If he does, that's when we'll know it's all about the money.

From who? Plus, if him and his agent are greedy enough he'd look at United's offer and push them to their limit to maximize what he gets.

Melbourne! Was at Old Trafford for UNITED 5 Spurs
5 years of being second best and when he finally shows himself to be the lead man, he fecks off. Just like his Champions league final appearances. No bottle what so ever. How about he grows the feck up, starts acting like a man, signs Gills fecking contract and regains the respect of United and the people that have stuck by him, rather then fecking off after a bit of money.

I wouldn't hazard a guess to say that the cnut Stretford is involved in all of this. You'd think after getting banned for 18 months Rooney would sack him.

Part of me hopes that the Paul Scholes tackle yesterday was one of aggression.

Well I believe he and his cnut of an agent are winding his contract down to the point where it would be stupid for United to not match what ever he asked as they'd lose out more by selling him then keeping him.

I would like to keep Rooney 'as I imagine most would, cnut or not, he's still an exceptional player that any team would want'

It also kind of explains why none of the team knew a thing. These are Rooney's best mates and he's not even bothered to tell them

Rooney just got called on his bluff by Sir Alex. It takes two to tango or something like that...

I think he's been offered such a ridiculous amount by City he wasn't interested in knowing what our offer was.

Just my gut feeling, nothing more.

Really hope I'm completely wrong though.

That will be his excuse no doubt and he and his advisers are probably hoping that it will attract some sympathy form the United faithful but it does wash with me, I believe totally IMHO that he has had his head turned by another club over the summer, last night I was betting on city but perhaps Real might be at it again but using a different strategy. Strange Mourinho was calling SAF his best friend in football when all this was about to break. Only God he know

Voted the best city in the world
Jose seems sure that Rooney is going to do a U-turn. I have to agree though, that this is more then just about money. IMO, I think Colleen might want to get out of England, to start afresh. (like moving to a country where the women are infinitely more beautiful and Cristiano lives around the corner  is going to help).

This bit added in by F365 was quite funny, kind of like just "by the way'
"Rooney was injured in training by a Scholes tackle" - scandal anyone? ;)
Football365 | All The News | Football News | SCHOLES TACKLE INJURED ROONEY - REPORTS

Imagine if Rooney and Cesc ended up at Barca in the summer. The 2 Spanish giants would possible then have most of the worlds best players littered in their 2 squads, I mean they do already! Scary.

I'd take Benzema and Kaka (who I think is going to have a tough time getting into Mourinho's formation/team at the expense of either Di Maria - who offers creativity and a fantastic workload or Ozil who is gelling in well with his team mates) in a swap for Rooney, no doubt.

I don't know lads, maybe you're right. But from the evidence presented so far it doesn't seem that way. If City made him an offer then surely that's amounting to tapping up a player? No?

So who the feck made the offer that made Waynes head turn? It seems like Jose's not interested, neither Chelsea or Barcelona will pay what Rooney wants nor have either seemed serious about offers. City is the only club that can offer him what he supposedly wants, and he's not stupid enough to think we would sell him to them...

All this friend Mourinho stuff could just be him being clever to avoid any blame and it is all guess work but I wouldn't underestimate what Mourinho is capable of. Funny Colleen with her sick sister is the reason i thought he would go to city, but again it is all guesswork but I do believe he already knows where he is going

Of course it is but it seems authorities don't want to get involved

Pretty much what Paul Merson said yesterday on SSN. You don't just walk into the managers' office asking for a move form the biggest club in the world unless you have somehwhere else already sorted. He has to have been tapped up and have his head turned by money

He'll probably pull a Stevie-G style u-turn at the last minute, so can everyone please refrain from burning any shirts for the time being.

Who says Mourinho's involved at all even if Real are interested? It's Real Madrid after all, and while logic would have it that a coach like Jose would have control over the squad, if Perez's eyes suddenly lit when he heard Rooney could be available, than who knows.

Vastly different to the Stevie G scenario. Liverpool have been in decline for a few years now and you could see Gerrard wanting to win a major trophy(UCL apart) before his career's over
