Rooney is frustrated...needs to calm down.

We lack the player to hold the ball up...err Berba. Berba Rooney is the better combination..even if Hernandez scored.
For me it's the issue that we're seemingly second to every loose ball that needs to be addressed.

Didn't the ref saw it and blowed for a free kick?
He did, but he can't have seen it clearly. Alas, we are helped/hurt by that rule I suppose.

He has to be the least intelligent footballer in the game. He's been awful and then he goes and does something like that in the week where we have to play Chelsea, Liverpool, then probably Arsenal. If he got done for violent conduct, he'd be out for those three games. Bra-fecking-vo sir.

Wigan are getting a lot of success on that left side. O'Shea and Fletcher aren't doing well together.

Why retire, VDS, why?

Rooney has been a fecking idiot. Should have been sent off(and I suspect the FA will review it and ban him), can't pick a pass or control the ball.

Rooney is just shite, I know form is temporary but he doesn't even have class.
Why can't Rooney just try to play football, he's been a wanking clown, losing the ball in almost every touch...

You get paid 250k for this ?
I wouldn't be at all bothered if Rooney misses some matches for that elbow. A hand full of moments and City goal aside, he's been largely irrelevant this season anyway. We're basically playing without him today as it is.
atrocious first half performance by that fat greedy bastard.
feck off Rooney and take your petulant crap elsewhere. It's not Wigan's fecking fault you're playing shit. Get him off I say, we can't afford to finish this with ten men. Idiot.
Rooney is a dick.
Bloody hell

Carrick has done alright at times but he needs to drop his habit of fannying about with the ball right in front of our defence and conceeding possession. If you're going to lose the ball, dont do it there
I would rather he does this and looks for the pass instead of lobbing it up to Hernandez.

Rooney is in a right huff out there, lucky not be off already, maybe he knows he isn't starting on Tuesday. VDS has made a couple of good saves and Vidic and Smalling are playing well. Our goal was a great piece of play it's just a shame we didn't get a second to make things easier in the second. Overall I think we are looking solid.

well the chinese say at the end of the half we have 47% possession - also we need to take into account how much time the ball has been in play - i think its a dreadful performance in terms of keep ball, too many times we are trying to push forward when the chance to do that is limited.

this. the defense has been terrible as a whole but it's had it's moments of brilliance and got better as the half neared.
It's been Vidic and VDS vs the Wigan defense. Smalling has been very good at points. But yes Wigan are cutting through us far too easily. Need a goal or two quickly.

Perhaps we should consider moving Rooney left, Nani right (where he's more comfortable), and move Fletcher back into CM?

Certainly an option for the second half, if we need it.

Ferguson won't be concerned with Rooney too much. He'll have a word but the player needs to be on the edge, as it were. It's how he plays. People suddenly being outraged he has aggression to his game being wilfully ignorant of the last six years of his career at the club.

Midfield's done ok individually (I think Flethcer's played well), but why are they sitting so ridiculously deep again? Just push out and contest the ball like you would at home you fecking gimps.

A bit sloppy in defence.

Rooney and Nani linked brilliantly for the goal, but other than that they've spent the entire half being a pair of fecking clowns.

Chicharito's movement for the goal is why he's so invaluable. Berbatov or Rooney would have just stood behind the defender waiting for Nani to do the impossible.

The defence has been fine. Its the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime in midfield giving the ball away constantly yhat have left the back four exposed as usual.

I think overall, it has been a quite good performance after a terrifying start. We are underestimating these away games and they are not as easy as some imagine, especially when our midfield is not great.

If we're getting shocked at Rooney being an aggressive little git....

*GASP* Scholes can't tackle...who knew? Has anyone informed the Associated Press about this?

He had a go at a few times that half from the touchline. He's probably more concerned with his inability to get into the game rather than his aggression.

The only reason we got the goal is because we had two up top, and we'd still sit just as deep with three CMs. We did exactly that only a few days ago.

True. But I never underestimated Wigan. Always thought this would be bloody hard and that's what it's proving to be.

They can't do anything since they saw it, but he only saw that Rooney ran into him. He'd have sent Rooney off if he'd seen him just run up and elbow him, but his angle didn't allow that.

He should come off at half so he doesn't get his dumb, greedy arse sent off.

O'Shea fans, is it right Rafael has been dropped again?
The system we've started with it wouldn't have made sense for someone to be bounding up front from the right back position. Evra is more conservative this afternoon too so far. I think it's just a symptom of the system we're playing as to why Rafael is on the bench.

I have a problem with Fletcher on the right wing. I think it is a waste. Even the rest of the players avoid attacking through him. Put O'Shea on that right side and you can see why that is

I don't think Rooney intended to nail him :wenger:

McCarthy saw Rooney coming and took 2 steps to the side to block it and Rooney tries to bend around him side on and catches him with the leading arm

He has defended well. So Im fine about it.

I have no doubt it is to do with Smalling. He does not want 2 inexperienced players in the back 4. Once Rio returns so will Rafael
