Agent Welbeck, do your duty! :D

Also; Don't think it's going to be a close game at all. 3 - 1 just don't know which team to.

One thing in our favour is that I would back LvG to out smart Wenger tactically more often than not. And I do have a feeling this could be our first 'big' win since the end of the Fergie era.

But maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Play the same line up like the last match with Mata or Herrera in for Januzaj. This is an away match and Fellaini's physicality in the mid will make sure we see lots of balls in mid. Carrick can pick the throughs, yes please drop RvP if possible to play Falcao.

We beat Arsenal last year when they were flying high at the top of the league.

    Arsenal 1: Welbeck
Manchester United 3: Di Maria, Rooney & Herrera (Sub).

Wishful thinking, but I think we can stand a chance. Hoping for some of the injury brigade to come back during the international break.

Off topic: Can we field a starting eleven composed of our injured players this season?

Not just a starting XI, but a full bench as well from the injuries this season:

    Johnstone
    Rafael---Jones---Evans---Shaw
    Valencia---Herrera---Fellaini---Young
    Falcao---Wilson

Subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, McNair, Anderson, Lingard, Rojo, Carrick
I can't remember if Lindegaard has been injured but I think he was (I don't think he was on the bench at one point?) so I've stuck him on the bench here rather then the starting XI; likewise with Anderson, nobody notices if he is missing. This also doesn't include Welbeck.

 at the amount of defenders in the 18 :(

I think this one will be difficult but we've got as good-of-a-chance as they do of winning, just going to be down to who puts in more effort on the day and how many defensive feck ups we have. Also have to take the 'Welbeck factor' into consideration, I think he'll be out to make a point and he's shown a few times since he's moved that he's capable of doing that.

Also think Fellaini should play. I like Mata and want to see him taking he opportunity and getting a proper place in the squad, but Arsenal don't seem to like physical teams, and let's face it Fellaini is the much more physically threatening of the two.

Wouldn't be overly surprised at a draw, but I'm betting on a win for us. Would be disappointed if we lost.

No he's just shite. Plus Carrick has valuable experience which we need at the back
Agree to disagree, then! (Massive brainfarts against City excluded..) I really do think Carrick and McNair will be too slow a pairing for 90 min against the pace of (some of) Arsenals attackers.

I do like your diamond-setup for this though. Maybe Fellaini over Mata too rough up Arsenals midfield.
Harsh on Mata though.. Matchwinner in the last match and all.. :p

I don't think they should be excluded. He's quick yeah, but inexperienced and causes more problems than he solves.

I'd much prefer to give up a bit of pace for experience and stifle them in midfield so their attackers don't get a run at us. We don't need our defenders playing a high line, just keep possession and play it forward to have our attack punish their weak defence. Arsenal are not at their best this year and are relying on a certain few players who could easily be taken out of the game if we are able to dominate the middle. I think if we put away our chances then we'll bag a few against them given how shocking their defence has been.

This is one game where we can play Herrera instead of Fellaini without worrying about 'physicality of EPL' aspect. In fact, Fellaini might struggle with Arsenal's movement.

    I will like to see
    DDG
    Rafael McNair Fit CB Shaw
    Blind
    Carrick Herrera
    Di Maria Rooney
    Falcao

Pretty sure LvG will start with RvP though and given his good record vs Arsenal since he joined us, there is a good case for him starting.

I don’t like ADM on the wing cause he’s less effective and he provides us more threat thought the middle but we have no choice. I would like to see Herrera playing rather than Fellaini because of his dynamism, ball retention. He would be excellent in keeping the ball against a side that keeps well the ball. And with Arsenal really strong at counter attacker, he would do better than Fellaini I presume. I would like also to have Valencia on Gibbs to have a job on him and helping Rafael (if fit) to keep Welb or Alexis this side.

    Rafael -----------------?????-------------?????--------------------Shaw

I personally see a high scoring draw or maybe an Arsenal win. You guys shouldn't underestimate the fact that they'll probably have Giroud and More so Walcott fit by then, but then again with Di Maria potentially playing against nacho monreal then I wouldn't be surprised with a United win either. This is another of the 50+ premier league games up to this stage where I can't predict it for shit .

On a side note, these Internationals? They seem to be happening way way more than what I remember of previous seasons! Am I going mad? They happen every fecking week nowadays FFS.

Ten games in 8 and a half weeks starting with the Arsenal match. Then another break in mid January.

Looking at what Montero done to Chambers, surely telling ADM to attack him at every opportunity would be the smart way to go about it?

Chambers must be bricking himself, he won't want a 3rd hole. 2 is bad enough for a bloke.

I don't know man, it just seems theres been an I.B every month. Pissing me off to be honest because we can all bet our last fecking quid if the international break hadn't injured sturridge we'd have more points right now. Frustrating to say the least.

Interesting that for once we play another big team on a Saturday, and not at 12:45.

    Provided they're all fit.

De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, McNair, Shaw; Blind, Carrick, Herrera; Mata, Rooney, Di Maria

Fellaini, Adnan and Van Persie to drop out for this one. I like the idea of Mata, Herrera and Di Maria supporting Rooney.

It will be interesting to see how Di Maria does in the friendly at Old Trafford. I have a theory that van Gaal is reining him in a little bit, as there is no Falcao and Herrera to work with, and no strong defence to cope with the counter attacks that happen from the resulting poor play.

3 weeks ago, looking ahead to fixtures VS Chelsea, City and Arsenal.I was most confident of getting 3 points form Arsenal. After our good performances in the 2 former fixtures i became even more confident that we will not back down for anybody which is always refreshing because that is who we are! Given Arsenals last 2 performances i really believe we can get 3 points off them. They usually buckle when they see face us, even last year at our worst they only managed a point off us! LVG and the players know that 3 points here is vital and will be a confidence booster. It will also guarantee us climbing 1 spot on the table. We need to carry a bit of momentum and make sure both our games that follow are victories.. I believe with players returning we can go at them! Rafael, Falcao and Herrera to start if fit! Give Mcnair a well deserved start. Team i would like to see start :

    De Gea

    Rafael-Smalling-Mc Nair-Shaw

    __________Blind
    ____Herrera__ Mata__Di Maria
    ___
    _____Rooney-Falcao

Kind of a 4-1-3-2 although i do not see him trying this particular formation out against Arsenal, feel it might be a bit thin in midfield. I also do not see him dropping RVP and i have a feeling Fellaini will definitely start.Either way i think we can and will beat them!!

Smalling should count himself very lucky that he'll stroll straight back in for this one.

but his card is marked, and it's time to buck up.

    Hate?! Come on...

Also hasn't LVG as good as said the diamond was unbalanced, with his comments about playing Falcao and RVP up top together?
