Yeah mate it's very different to in the States. Mixing isn't common. Best to keep quiet.
Also probably depends where you sit. I remember having Marseille fans sitting behind me at OT on a CL night, and they weren't quiet at all. Even celebrated Brown's own goal like crazy. But then again it wasn't at the stretty so it mostly depends on the stadium.

In the US it's totally different though, most people just go to enjoy the occasion, not giving a shit on the outcome of the game (unless it's a playoff game).

Is it a lack of loyalty, or just a different level of maturity?

Do you think it's normal and healthy to be willing to get into a physical confrontation with someone or tell someone that they're not welcome in an establishment over a sports event?
It's worth noting that it's a football thing, not an European issue. People behave like adults here when watching other sports but with football...It's a real shame and an embarrassment to the sport.

People just seem to accept that football fans will always be largely abusive and ready to fight, as if it's normal.

Yeah obviously variants on the team or where in the ground you are. Generally very different to America! I find sports here are like a social event until you get to the business end of things.

Matić or Herrera as #6 in a midfield three, big difference.
I wasn't aware that the order in which the midfielders are listed has any relation to their actual positions on the field...

Anyway, I expect we'll go with a midfield 3 - Mourinho must have noticed how much difficulty we have exerting control over these big games with just 2 players in there. I imagine that Herrera will be tasked with Ozil-tracking duties (see Hazard last season).

Neville actually had a graphic. But, yes, the order should indicate their position from right to left, like the classic shirt numbers do.

Not sure we really need a midfield 3, we didn't against Watford.

Need a big game from Pogba. It would be a massive help if Matic could play. Between them they badly outpour and outclass Arsenal's central midfield, which is their weak link by some distance. We need to cut the supply lines to those forwards.

Hoping for a 3-5-2 with Herrera doing a man marking job on Ozil, Martial to start up front with Lukaku, Smalling as a cb to deal with Giroud's aerial game.

I expect Matic to play since he travelled, Mourinho just doesn't want to tell.

1-1 I would put down as a prediction.

Typically we'll score first, then concede late from a comedy error just to feel tremendous about the evening at the Emirates.

Think both teams are capable of winning though obviously if they play to their best and go for the throat.

Would probably take that if you offered it to me now though. We've been abysmal at theirs for a good few years now, and Ozil will be purring at the thought of the Matic shaped hole which he'll likely be up against.

Whatever the formation and starting XI, we need everyone to perform. We can't afford any passengers in this game. If everyone's up for it we can do them. Don't care about their winning streak at home.

We cannot go into the derby even further behind.

Nothing wrong with that team at all. Despite Ander's poor form he's still a big game player for me.
Especially as we do not have any other option. But yes, I think this is a dip in form, not some grand revelation that he is in fact terrible (strange to even have to say that, but seen that floating about).

Exactly what I've gone for, but replacing Herrera with Matic if fit. Martial HAS to start ahead of Rashford all day long if one of them are to be selected. Not too worried about the Gooners. They always slip up after a run of a few games. Though they have won the last 12 at the Emirates to be fair.
This will be a hard game. This team is fairly automatic, but I think Lingard will be slotted in instead of a forward playing on the right, or a non-defense contributing Mata. In that line-up Tony has both Lingard and Herrera to help with Sanchez. And they all have energy.

Hoping for a strong performance from Lukaku tomorrow.

    Need to win this.

We can't keep settling for draws. I really hope we show attacking intent and look strong enough to get a win.

Our performances vs Pool and Chelsea were dire.

Consider me the worst fan ever, but I'm struggling to get on board with the optimism here.

Our midfield failed to boss Watford, 3days ago. Matic may be out. Herrera is playing Watford standard nowadays.

I'm struggling to see the optimism here, especially given Jose will NOT play aggressively here.

Call me a fake fan, a doom-monger, whatever. I feel I'm speaking what I see here. I'll happily eat crow, but I don't see anything better than a draw here for us.

I would love for an early goal to settle the nerves, then another one on the counter attack when Arsenal leave themselves completely exposed at the back in the 2nd half.

Lacazette out is a massive boost for us, he has been very good this season when given the chance. And the trio of Lacazette, Ozil and Sanchez is what has made them much more effective.

If City or Liverpool had our abysmal record in big-games we would rightly call them "big game bottlers" so why is it acceptable for us to keep getting draws or loses in big games? if we accept a point in every big-game then it really shows how far standards have fallen. We need to expect much more and be disappointed with anything less than a win.

Jose's record and tactics in the biggest of big matches needs closer inspection.. didn't his Real Madrid team regularly get spanked by Barca in Spain, too?

I am incredibly worried about this match, probably because I want us to smash em' good (especially since I saw that the arsenal fans suddenly think they are title contenders/world beaters after beating Tottenham). I hope we are really going to come out confident, and smack these cnuts.

Ozil is purring right now.. when Ozil has confidence up he's a beast. We need to close the door on him when he tries his Hollywood through-balls to Sanchez/Welbeck/Walcott to latch onto with their pace. I'd put a marker on him, sniff him out. Jose knows him better then anyone, and knows if you let him get his head up to pick a pass, he can punish you.

‘[Arsenal] defend better than they did in recent years, they adapted well to playing with five defenders…’

We have to approach Arsenal with a defend first/attack second mentality as is always the case with Mourinho anyway. That probably means Herrera assigned to Ozil and Lingard over Mata starting to harass play out of the back.

Three center backs, plus Valencia and Young. Herrera and Pogba, of course. Lukaku's in poor form of late but he'll get the start. This would be a superb occasion for him to break out of his poor run and dominate Koscielny.

I'll take a draw, but we have to avoid being dropped. What we don't want is for Arsenal to gain ground on us.

Defend against everything Arsenal throw at us, watch them stretch out of frustration and hit them with a late Rashford smash and grab.

That is exactly the blue print for beating Arsenal. Arsenal when they are looking for a goal gradually increase the amount of players they commit forward. It is only a matter of time before they have only one player staying back to defend. Martial and Lukaku need to be on their A-game.

They are also suspect from set pieces and crosses, put it into the mixer and their organization will be shown to be poor. Ashley Young will be very important in this aspect.

Still think Welbeck will start ahead of Giroud, like in the corresponding fixture last season. We lost, but we were playing a sorrow flat 4-4-2 with the likes of Tuanzebe, Darmian, Carrick and Rooney.

Herrera has to be ready for this, we can't afford him to be below par yet again. Hope that Matic is ok and can play. We need to go for a win, if Jose again will play for not conceding and don't take risks and depends on a lucky chance or so, we will almost end up defeated, if he really shows that we have and we should earn the 3 points and go for it we can do it.
Players simply must be fired up if you want to challenge and keep chasing city we need to not drop points against Arsenal first then city. Big week for us could easily defines our season. Good luck.

Arsenal are in a rich vein of form. Without Matic in the middle I fear we might struggle but Mourinho clearly has an edge over Wenger so maybe he can muster something up.

Yep, the last two times Arsenal were on one of their beast runs, we lost 3-0 (LvG) and 2-0 (Jose). Though the latter defeat was more due to us throwing away the league for the EL.

But the most telling thing about both those defeats was the ease with which Arsenal, on a winning run and in confident form, bullied our midfield, which was key to them scoring at will. Doesn't do much to ease my nerves over Herrera.
