Fernandes: "I saw the goal of H [Maguire] and I see Paul running behind him, sliding on his knees, happy for him. I was slapping his head, saying finally you've scored a goal with that big head."

I expect Pogba and Fred to start in midfield.
Ronaldo will certainly start. So McT wont be starting.
Rangknick loves McTominay for whatever reason. I'd go with Pogba and Fred but McTominay is likely to start in my opinion.

Hope we stuff them. Can’t bear to see a big toothy Suarez grin.

Excited about the tie because its against a big side but also fully aware how dreadful Atleti are to watch so expecting a 1-0 win to either team tomorrow with not many chances.

PL referees are lenient with him, possibly because he’s British and they see him as ‘not that sort of player’. What he does do is commit an extremely high number of fouls. Refs in Europe are likely to be less lenient so he will need to watch himself.
Referee's being lenient because he's British? Yeah, I'm not sure about that one. You're not wrong about the fouls though, he does seem to give away a lot of them, but rarely do they seem like bookablke offences.

Maybe he's just a good fouler, or a clever one even.

Well he’s certainly not staying on the pitch because he isn’t committing enough fouls. Compared with someone like Xhaka who is sent off 3 or 4 times a season. It’s not as if Granit is going out injuring players. There is likely some sort of subconscious lenience. Similar to the never been red carded Harry Kane.

I feel optimistic! The only dark cloud in the sky is captain Maguire…
If Maguire starts Im afraid the game wont be much fun. More painful. Felix, Suarez and/or Cunha will run circles around him…

I predict another nothing performance in the UCL by Suárez; + at least one goal by CR.

Yeah, my thoughts on tonight's games is something like this, "Move along now, nothing to see here"

Seen a stat that we have only won 21% of games in Spain in UEFA competitions.
Also struggle in Spain and this be no different. We need to get at least a draw and I’ll be happy

I really think Rashford is the man for a tie like this, in spite of his recent form. If he doesn’t start though, then I’d like to see the same attack as the weekend. Lingard doing some sort of Park role on the right allows us to play Pogba centrally, who I think if he’s on song he will be too much for Atleti.

Great to have that big game feeling again.

It has the bonus of both teams being very beatable so who knows what will happen tomorrow night.

Yes they are having a bad season by their standards but it's still Atletico in Champions League. Don't make the naive mistake of underestimating them

Interested to see João Felix in action.
Feel like he made an awful choice going to ATM. He's the kinda player who can be a world beater under Pep. City would suit him so much.

    Simeone's tactics stifle him.

Put all your money on Suarez to score
Excellent jinx attempt. Suarez to score two goals.
I see people haven't been following Suarez in the UCL for the past few years.

PS: I get the Liverpool/jinx angle you guys are going for.

I don't think Rashford will be that effective because of the low block system Simeone applies. There will be no space for Marcus to get in behind or fuel counter attacks.

Sancho and Ronaldo will be far more dangerous in my opinion.

I predict another nothing performance in the UCL by Suárez; + at least one goal by CR.
Exactly. People forget how much Suarez vanishes in CL matches. Rudiger pocketed him so badly when they played Chelsea, its not even funny.

This is the Champions League. They will raise their game, I can assure you of that. Will be a really tough match.
    So will Ronnie!!

They've been bad in all competitions. Atlético just aren't a good team at the moment. I'm not sure why they're expected to raise their level tonight or in the second leg.

If we can't beat this team, then it says a lot about United's struggles this season.

looking forward to this game. Love the champions league especially when we’re in it and facing top teams. Although ath Madrid aren’t having a good season there still going to be very tough. We need to raise the bar tonight. Just make sure we’re still in the tie by the 2nd leg and then kill them off at old Trafford!! #GGMU

    United minus the Glazers
I feel the lack of an away goal advantage will play in the minds of our players who may not be as urgent in their attacks to score.

Pogba has to play. Bruno has to play. So does Sancho and Ronaldo/ Cavani. I would prefer he played Ronaldo as a sub. Play Rashford early on and tell him to run non stop. If he doesn't hook him off.
