Let's score 2 OGs, in the opening minute. Then watch as our players chase 3 goals.

For whatever reason, unless we are behind, the players can't score goals.
Against Sevilla, we didn't score for 150 minutes (I think it was). They score 2 goals and within 10 minutes we scored.
Similar with CP. Similar with CFC. Similar with MCFC.

It's funny that. Maybe it has something to do with the opponent retreating a bit, but that also means we actually do know how to open up a defence.

Why we don't go out with the intensity to every game i don't understand. Poor motivation or tactical instructions? Most teams should fear that when they are against Manchester United they will be on the backfoot right from the start.

We should just let every opponent have a 1 goal advantage from the start.

Following the win against City, Pogba said something along the lines of "being in the title race if we played like that every game", and then he, and the rest of the team, partake in a snooze fest. Yesterday, there were definite shades of complacency as there were against Sevilla which, incidentally, proceeded another big win and performance. There's a mentality problem within this team, however, thinking of yourselves as more than capable is far better than the opposite.

Yeah. Hopefully the message from Jose about mentality will get through to the players soon.

It's a blessing that we've got a game so soon.

Will you be saying that 20 mins into the game when nothing has changed though?
You expect the first 20 minutes to be the same as the West Brom game. I certainly don't.

Poor motivation - a player should not need any more motivation. He steps into the stadium. 75k fans shouting at the top of their voices. Wearing the shirt. What other motivation is required?
Tactics - do you honestly believe that Jose tells our players to play with low intensity and not to worry about scoring goals?
1 goal advantage? I don't think that's enough. I think we need to go 2 goals down before our players think to themselves, "right lads, it's time to score goals".

Jose needs to sort this problem out this season, so that we can hit the ground running next season. We can't afford to wait for an opponent to score 1-2 goals, before the players decide to "play".

I do not see us coming out of the blocks and righting any wrongs from yesterday at all.

Think we will either go 1-0 down and turn it around to win or the game will be played like a testimonial with neither team looking bothered to win.

Perhaps we need to bring in a sports psychologist, because it is bizarre that our players just can't get themselves hyped up for the match.
Opponents are coming to our stadium and playing like it's their cup final, meanwhile our players are playing like its a training match.

Chong, Gomes etc involved in some capacity please. Give us some entertainment.
I would love to see that personally, but I can't see Jose giving them a run out just yet. Perhaps in the last game if we have secured 2nd place.

Being a great motivator is a huge reason why SAF had an edge over other managers. It's very important in football. Sometimes you have characters in the team that will do it, but with our bunch a lot of it has come to from the manager it seems.

I don't know what Mourinho does, but we always seem to be so comfortable at the start of a game.

Can understand why he wants us to finish 2nd at least. If you want to sign a player and are 2nd, they will think we are going somewhere. If we are third or fourth, then they might think Liverpool and Spurs are on the up before us.

Will mean nothing if they win the CL. Even if they get to the final they’ll have had the better season. The FA Cup game is so much more relevant than this game.
Losing the final and it counts for a much as losing all games in the group phase and heading out in shame. Nobody remembers who finishes 2nd.

Could have him in, no problems. I just wanted to see if I could drop every single one of our so called 'world class attackers' and still come up with a team who could do a job.

Smalling in the CAM role would be interesting, obviously possesses a great first touch and an eye for a pass, shame Jose's tactics are holding him back

Think many players will be rested for the FA cup game, so can see Rashford, Martial starting together.

I was think more along the lines of 87 crosses and sticking 2 big guys upfront. But then I have Valencia on right wing

If we don't buck up our ideas, Bournemouth can embarrass us pretty fast. Hoping for some direct football.

I want to see someone out wide who will carry the ball to the byline and cross it to perfection. Mourinho has to drill this into whoever is best suited to do this job.

Bournemouth being as adventurous as they are at home should suit us.

Having said that, they are precisely the kind of team we don't like to face on the road - we let opponents like Bournemouth get on top of us, their crowd gets going and we're completely on the back foot. Newcastle, Bristol, Leicester, Huddersfield, Stoke...

They'll sense blood, as will their fans. And a win will in all likelihood secure their safety. Got banana skin written all over it.

    Toss of a coin.

Top 4 is pretty much sewn up,the main focus is the cup so for that reason I would make quite a few changes.

Can see this being 1-1. Minds on the cup semi and Bournemouth are a decent team.

From memory weren't Bournemouth excellent at OT earlier this season?

"If I play a player against Bournemouth and the player is phenomenal, he will play in the semi-final, so it is not rotating, because rotating looks like a player that plays against Bournemouth is to give a rest to somebody that is going to play against Spurs in the semi-final."

Sounds like Jose is desperately asking his players to show something

“What is the criteria for a manager to choose a team? I only know one criteria, the way they play. It is the only way I can select players, or do you want me to go for the price they cost, or their salary, or their beautiful face, or... [no], the only way is to go with performance.”

“Consistency has nothing to do with age. It has to do with personality, with the way you live for football, what your priority is in your life, what your ambition is. It has not to do with age,” he replied.

“I met players who are 30 years old, not consistent at all, and I found boys of 18, 19, 20, real men, real pros, so it is not about the age.”

Its one day to go for matchday and the thread is merely 2 pages long. Looks like the cafe posters are not looking forward to this game.

After jose saying he’s making alot of changes I would like to see this line up to give fringe players a chance:

    ....................DDG...................
    Darmian..Bailly...Lindelof..Rojo
    ...................Blind..................
    .........Herrera.....Pogba...........
    ...............Lingard...............
    .........Rashford..Martial...........

I know we’re never gonna see that especially Blind as CDM but I would like to see him there as he’s tidy on the ball and no slower than Matic, plus a better passer. It’s a dangerous front 3 what has the flexibility and creativity to cause Bournemouth alot of problems and could give them all a chance to win a place in Saturdays team.
