Based on the worst performers being dropped i would go with

    Heaton
    A.W.B Maguire Martinez Shaw
    Garner
    V.D.B Eriksen
    Sancho Martial Rashford

ummm, how the hell does maguire get in the team given your premise?:nono:

    De Gea
    Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Malacia
    Eriksen - Fred
    Sancho - Zidane - Garnacho
    Ronaldo
I wish we had a alternative to Dalot that wasnt Wan Bissaka. Laird didnt look ready at all during pre season.
While Maguire was good on the passes he got done several times and generally him and Martinez seemed to be on different pages. If Varane is fit I would give that a go instead.
I still believe Fred can be useful with the right partner. Eriksen was a gamechanger against Brighton and I believe we should try Eriksen - Fred from the start. Zidane has the explosive drive and passing teqnique and would honestly like to see him get the shot from the beginning, the same with Garnacho. Rashford and Bruno where absolutely horrendous against Brighton and should not start this game.

If Mc T, Shaw, Bruno and Rashford start the game we will loose.

If it were me I'd play:

    -----------------------------------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------------------------------------
    Dalot--------------------------------Varane-----------------------Martinez------------------------------Malacia
    -----------------------------------------------DVB---------------Fred--------------------------------------------------
    Garnacho------------------------------------------Eriksen-------------------------------------------Sancho
    ---------------------------------------------------------Ronaldo----------------------------------------------------------

We absolutely can't have the likes of Maguire, Mctom, Fernandes or Rashford anywhere near the team anymore, they simply are not good enough and never will be.

TBHi'd say the same about Fred, Dalot and DVB too but needs must and Donny actually looked ok when he came on so i'd give him a second chance under a new manager.

This is a better judge of game to see where you're at. Brighton will finish comfortably mid table because they have an excellent manager. I reckon Brentford will be near the bottom of the table if not relegated so if you don't win it will be worrying for you.
Last season Utd beat Brentford 1-3 and 3-0

    My prediction…. we’ll batter them 1-1

Because I thought maguire was ok yesterday. Dalot and de gea were awful as were mcfred.

Maguire would be fine if he had a GK willing to sweep or command his area, who isn't a coward and was confident and able with the ball at his feet. Because with de gea maguire has to take all those responsibilities on as well, he is forced to cover too much and is getting caught out. And that is before we even go into the void at RB and DM that also hampers him massively.

I'm pretty sure we will go with Fred & McTominay again, it's in the water in Manchester to keep making these decisions even though everything tells you that it's not right. Ronaldo will start though so either Rashford or Eriksen will make way, my money is on Rashford. Otherwise same team as yesterday.

Should be smashing poor Little Brentford.

In reality it will be a struggle.

Need to change things, wake some players up, but ETH, for the sake of this dressing room will not throw players like Bruno, Rashford, Shaw out of the window now

That's the thing with this side. All games are a struggle. Gone are the days, when we would just roll over the smaller sides, be up by a couple of goals by halftime and coast through in final stages. We simply don't have the quality or discipline for that.

Agree about DDG, but feel Maguire is about the same level

hope we don’t start Fred in a number 6 role again.
is that where he was? Because I had no idea what role he was supposedly playing... but then I could say that of others too

Yeap, but even a 2-0 lead doesn't feel safe.

Hopefully will be that.. I’d rather we start Varane as CB and Martinez in DM but I doubt it will happen. McTominay should be nowhere near the line up after yesterday.

I would love to start Garnacho and/or Zidane but don’t think it’s realistic and big ask of them coming back from a defeat, so I would like to see the below.

    --Eriksen—-Fred
    ——-Donny
    Sancho——Martial
    ———Ronaldo

This will be an interesting game. In a sense, it might have been a good thing we didn't get the equaliser to paper over the cracks from that abysmal opening performance.

I would expect a big response from the players involved. If there isn't one then in afraid we will have another season of mediocrity ahead. I would also worry about how long Ten Hag would be given before the knives are out.

Should be? Have you watched us play for the last 3 seasons with the majority of these players?

The reality is we're EL level at best until we buy better players and teams like Brentford & Brighton don't fear us.

Brighton lose their two best players, beat us with ease. We take Brentford’s best player off them and I think the outcome will be the same.

Hopefully, Erik has seen enough of Fred and McTominay now to know that we can't even progress the ball, let alone progress our chances of challenging for silverware if we persist with that combo.

I would rather see us try Martinez, Garner, Savage or Iqbal in midfield now.

I was at the game yesterday and as bad as we were, I was very impressed with Brighton...they will turn over some decent (arguably better) sides than us this season.

I reckon a score draw here.

We have a manager with a certain vision and play style, it takes time and we'll get better with every game. So I am feeling very confident with the progress.
