Maybe we're considering Gomes as a midfielder, because he's had a better season than Chong.

No Gomes in the squad, that's a shame

Hope Chong gets some game time instead of the anti-winger Mata

Genuinely not too bothered about the end result - our record is shite against Chelsea full stop. Just hoping for a better performance.

I'd love us to win some silverware this season but we'll draw City next round and go out anyway if we do get passed Chelsea.

Not too concerned with the result when you look at the record books. Just hoping for a few strong performances from some players. Good chance to make a claim for the first team.

Surprised people are writing off our best chance of silverware so easily.

Chelsea have been poor and this is a winnable match, if OGS makes the right decision on the Lingrd/ Martial injuries. Just hope he does not keep making the same selection mistakes to hamstring us

Probably going to continue with our recent defense and midfield with Sanchez - Rashford - Mata/Lukaku up front.

It's probably due to our record at SB. I would be reasonably confident we could get a draw and take it back to OT but there are no replays this year so we must win. Can't see it happening.

    Fair enough

Probably our best chance in a while as Chelsea look the weakest they have been since the Jose meltdown

Shame we didn't get the win in the league game, but a good opportunity to get the Stamford Bridge monkey off our back.

Good opportunity for Sanchez and Lukaku too.
Hopefully this is like when Van Gaal stumbled across that lineup that saw us batter the best In the league for a few games

    Travelling squad, per MEN:

    Goalkeepers: De Gea, Romero, Grant

Defenders: Dalot, Young, Smalling, Shaw, Lindelof, Bailly

Midfielders: Matic, Pereira, McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Herrera

Attackers: Lukaku, Chong, Rashford, Sanchez, Mata
Shame that Gomes hasn't travelled, I thought he had a better chance of getting a game than Chong. I wonder where Jones is and I didn't think De Gea would travel as I expected Romero to start.

I think they normally take 3 keepers as a precaution. He may sit it out in the stands if Romero keeps his domestic cup place

An outfield player will have to drop out too and I really hope it is not Chong. I don't mind losing, but I'd rather it be through giving youth a chance than using the same old failed formula (e.g. Lukaku central and Mata wide)

I think De Gea hadn't travelled when we played Arsenal. If he's travelled then I reckon he'd start and it's a good thing. We need our best players to avoid losing 2 on the trot and letting the media whip it into some sort of mini crisis.

Was ok about this fixture but with Martial and Lingard out I'm not overly confident. It's not that they're replaceable by any stretch of the imagination but the fact is we have 3 passengers to replace them in Lukaku, Mata and Sanchez.

Why does everyone thing he will play Sanchez as a striker? Has he played there for us already?
I think he played there for either two or three games in a row a few months back before getting injured. Bournemouth away, Juventus away (where I believe he got his injury) and maybe another game that slips my mind.

I guess there aren't many goals and that both teams will defend themselves with everything they have. Can be a really boring match but I hope Ole and the players show how wrong I have. Regardless of how it is done, I am grateful for a victory.

A diamond shape with Lukaku and Rashford up top is what I'd like to see. Unsure if they would've had enough time to practice that this week or if it's anything we'd even try.

Usual midfield 3 with Mata or Sanchez at the tip.

Think it's clear Sanchez will start given the amount of media time he's had since PSG. This is really his last chance to step up for us and prove doubters wrong.

I have a feeling rashford will need to play ST, and both wings in this game if Mata, Sanchez or Lukaku are up there.

The best tactical solution for this game considering the injuries and apparent lack of wingers is a 3-4-1-2 set-up with Sanchez and Rashford, or maybe Sanchez playing off Rashford slightly. I hope Ole has done his homework on them.

Just like how Pogba is pivotal for us, Hazard is for them, and the job each team does on these two will determine the winner.

Is playing Rashford on the left and Sanchez up front really any better than Sanchez on the left and Rashford up front?

Seems like we are shackling one of our best players to get a little more out of our most underperforming player.

    Romero
    Dalot - Bailly - Lindelof - Shaw
    Fred/Pereira - Matic - Herrera - Pogba
    Lukaku - Rashford

    Who needs wingers?

So.. who doesn't make the 18? 1 will be a keeper..one of Pereira, McT, Fred or Chong will miss out...

    It'll probably be a midfielder ..

This is the lineup I would go with:

    Ddg
    Dalot, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw
    ------------------Matic-------------
    Herrera-----------------Fred------
    -------------------Pogba-------------
    ------Rashy---------------Alexis

Go dominate midfield with a diamond, Have Herrra keep an eye on Hazard and Pogba on gorginho.

In last 25 games at SB, only 3 wins.
A positive is that we nearly won against them at the Bridge this season. That too under Mourinho. Think it has to do with Sarri being the weakest of all recent Chelsea managers either tactically or because his players haven't yet adapted to his demands.

Anyway, they are coming off a 6-0 hammering and didn't look as invincible against us as they did in previous meetings at the Bridge. We have injuries and a CL loss weighing on our minds. It's 50-50 at this point, though if we had a fit squad and hadn't lost to PSG, I would have been 100% sure of a win.

Anyone know if this will be live on Optus/Foxtel/SBS in Aus? Not sure if anyone is showing the FA cup.

I think this game will depend a lot on what Sarri does, if anything to change from the hammering from City.

I would like to see if we play 4 3 3 with a high line us playing Kovacic instead of Kante on the right of the midfield 3 and Ederson at left back, as we did against Malmo. Or us to play 4 2 3 1, with us sitting deeper and Kante in a two man midfield. If we play the same team and tactics as against City I would expect Utd to win the game pretty comfortably.

    De Gea
    Dalot Bailly Lindelöf Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Pereira Lukaku Rashford

This is what I’m hoping to see.

You're genuinely hoping to see Pereira?
If the alternatives are Mata and Sanchez, yes.

We haven’t really tried Pereira on the wing. I think he’s more suited there. He has a good cross on him too.
