One very good thing about yesterday's result is that the next Champions game, sandwiched between two of the toughest games all season, Tottenham (h) and Chelsea (a), just became much less important, and Mourinho can almost risk featuring a sitting back rapid counterattack second team then.
Then after those two games it's another international break. Thank goodness we have two home games in the PL this time.

10 wins, 2 draws and over 30 goals in 12 games. Close second in the league and first in the CL group. Best defense in Europe and top 10 attack, numbers-wise.

    But we're still shit.
    Well said.

Jones out, Mourinho hinting a Premier League debut for Lindelöf.

Suddenly players got injuried? Now Bailly Jones and Rashford, and only God knows what is happening to them and when they can be back add of course to Fellaini and Pogba who no one knows exactly when the can come back also. Hope Jose can give us a hope when he speaks about injuries.

Jones's been injured for a while now, he even missed the England call up, but apparently he can still play if needed. Rashford is a new thing, nobody knows if it's serious or not yet.

Anyhow, don't forget Jones was on the bench against Benfica, and, unless his injury got worse due to the bench cushions, no way he's not starting Huddersfield.

It is time for Mata, Mhiki, Rashford, and Martial to step up and provide us with some creativity, goals, dribbling, running in behind defenders etc. Our defence and defensive midfield are both very good and Lukaku seems a bit knackered but I expect a lot more from that quartet in our coming games, not least against Spurs and Chelsea.
Hang on a minute are we not second in the PL , scored 21 with only 2 against, 20 points from 8 games.
If asked before that start of the season , if this would be OK after 8 games , I would of snapped there hand off.

Nobody's getting rested? Some players have continuous physical problems we need to manage and don't play every game, others just can't take 3 games in 8 days. Of course, some are easily rested than others, and the midfield should stay the same.
Everyone who needs it will have a week's rest after Saturday. Swansea in the League Cup is where we give the likes of Valencia, Matic, and Lukaku the game off.

Me too, and I also said in another post that I am more than happy with the start to our season. But if we are to win the title the players who I mentioned need to step up a bit in the coming games. Let us wait and see until after the Spurs and Chelsea games.

    -----------------Lukaku---------------
    Martial-----------Mkhi (sadly)--Mata
    -----------Matic-------Herrera-------
    Young----Smalling--Jones--Valencia

Could be Mkhi's last chance for "automatic" starting XI position. Hope he picks up some form, or at least put in a 6/10 performance will do in this game. If he puts in a 5/10 or less, again, there is no way Jose will start him against Spurs.

However, not surprised to see Jose replaces him with Lingard with Mata moving to #10.

That's not how it works, it's still 3 games in 8 days and Mourinho doesn't usually feature a first and a second team, he mixes it up. Anyhow, there are other players needing a rest and others carrying injuries.

I can't imagine Lukaku and Matic miss the Huddersfield game? Especially when it's likely that Pogba/Carrick/Fellaini won't be back and Rashford can't be 100%. Valencia is a possibility, but he won't play at Swansea so if he's rested it'll be for two games in a row (and I think he'll be rested for Benfica in the UCL too, now that we're in a strong position in the group). We can obviously add Herrera to the list of players who aren't going to be left out. Jones might play this one if he's OK, as even if fully fit, it's again unlikely he'll need to feature against Swansea (and he didn't play mid-week). I reckon Lindelof is more likely to face Swansea and Benfica than Huddersfield or Spurs. Left Back could be anybody, but probably not Shaw tomorrow, I'd think Young with maybe Darmian and Shaw playing against Swansea?

It's the attacking areas where it's the most difficult and where I'd agree with you more on trying to rest players there. However, we're in a situation where Lukaku, Martial, and at least one of Mata/Mkhitaryan have to play tomorrow. Lingard is the only one who can realistically come in to rest someone else. I'd throw him in for the next two games in full tbh...

Yep. We have some big games coming up next week. Spurs(H), Benfica(H) and Chelsea(A). I'll rest a bunch of players against Swansea. They are a good team but we'll have to take the risk.

Swansea aren't a good team. It's a perfect opportunity to rest all of our key players.

    Hope to see :
    -----------------DeGea-----------
    Valencia--Lindelöf--Smalling--Young
    ------------Matic--Herrera------------
    Rashford--------Mata----------Martial
    --------------Lukaku-------------------
Rashford's knee didn't look too good the other night. I think he'll miss out with Mkhi coming in at 10 with Mata out on the right. I'm not turning cartwheels over that but if Jose is tries to let Mkhi play himself into a bit of form I understand where he's coming from, even if it's not really worked so far.

It goes almost without saying we should have too much for them, even at their place.

If Rashford is out i want Mkhi in too, but he have been really poor the last games.
Maybe i am wrong but i also feel his stats boosted up his performances in the start of the season. Looked better than how he really played.

I agree, I've not been impressed with Mkhi's play all season but having him contribute when it mattered was great and the hope was his general play would start to improve. Now the assists have dried up and he is still playing poorly I struggle to justify his starting place, but again if Jose sees him as his starting 10 and thinks he can play himself into form who am I to argue?

First team to do a league winners treble From 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26,
Ffs, I hope Jose isn't aware of them stats ;). We need to get back on the front foot. This lot have fell off a cliff since their promising early season form. Should be a routine win.

S…, the way Mourinho talked about Pogba “not being here” was not nice! But Zlatan's there!

Paul is not here, I don’t know when he comes back, when he’s available, I’ve no idea. Zlatan is here, he’s working here, under our control, he’s working so so so so hard but he’s not to be back in the next week or couple of weeks, let him take his time and be back when everyone feels is the right moment. Do I think he will be back in 2017, yes I do. But is just a feeling.

Yes, it should be routine win.

As for the league win Treble, we did it twice :) No team has come close ever since we last did it.

I don't expect fluid football. Not with a tired Matic carrying the weight of our entire midfield on his shoulders and without our other midfielders.

But we should get the job done in our typically ugly way. 2-0 after Mkhi gets dispossessed a hundred times as usual.
