Utd were extremely good defensively against Soton and McScapegoat was a huge part of that. But relax comrades, Ten Hag knows he is really a championship level reserve and not a decent PL player. He is just picking him because he knows he is every bit as bad as everyone claims.
We wouldn't need to be great defensively against fecking Soton if McRugbyplayer could play football.

Ten Hag already said he wants to slowly integrate Casemiro into the starting eleven, which makes sense. Don't understand the excessive moaning.
It’s the match thread mate. It’s full of knee jerk reactions and constant whinging.

Fine if you claim that he is decent premier league player. He might be. However Casemiro is a world class player. Its not that weird that people find it strange that a decent premier league player starts over a worldclass midfielder.

We didn't play well at all vs Soton, what is he on about?

Reminds me of Ole and his talks.

And that is absolutely fine, I wanted Casemiro to start as well, expected MCT to go to the bench but it's super tedious when it is just constant derision directed at one player.

I think he is an average PL player by the way, very rarely more than that.

Sorry mate. I implore you to watch the Southampton game again paying a bit of attention to McTominay. He was shite. No touch , offered nothing on the ball, didn’t show for it, ran around often behind the play which I couldn’t really figure out how he ended up there…most of all, it’s his poor touch and his bad positioning which leads him to make fouls. I’m sorry but with Casemiro on the bench, it really is an odd decision.

McTominay over the last two performances does not deserve to be dropped.

Just goes to show… some managers prefer sticking with a winning team until they feel change is needed. I personally would of made a couple tonight though just to refresh things but I’d rather Casemiro plays against arsenal. We should have enough tonight to win with that team.
Hopefully we get the job done tonight because if we don’t then this is definitely going to be one of the things getting raised on why we never freshened the team up.

No Casemiro is a very interesting decision. Hopefully it doesn't backfire on him. Besides Casemiro needs minutes in the bank in order to play against Arsenal.

Ajax supporters did say ETH likes to stick to a winning team so I’m not overly surprised. We have an important match in three days, he will have to change the team for that one.

Plenty. Eriksen, Sancho, Malacia, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, Fred, Garnacho, more. I also don't dislike Elanga or McTominay. It's just that unfortunately they are not fit to play at this level.
    That says it all!

Funny, I can swear we played 4 games this season and not 2.

And because of the first two, Shaw and Maguire were rightfully exiled to the bench. McTominay has barely done enough to stay in the team over Fred, let alone Casemiro and people go on about him as if he's the Scottish Ji Sung Park

We weren’t good in three of our four. Besides, you know how it is when these teams play United.
Well in our 2 last victories Mctominay did his job well and was one of the better players in each game. I'm more worried about Elanga starting tbh, hopefully Antony will be ready for Arsenal.

No complaints, makes sense to keep the same winning team so players can build team chemistry into the new system. Only issue is with starting mctominay over casimero but you can understand ten hag wanting to slowly integrate him and not put him in the deep end in a tricky away game.

Probably when we play at home casimero will start. And so pleased ronaldo is benched again. Rashford can hopefully find his striker instincts and ten hag revives him the same way he revied Tadic and Haller.

Is it possible to have at least one game where neither of McTominay, Elanga, Maguire start?

Certainly a ballsy move to start McT over Casemiro. Hope it works out

Any explanation why Casemiro isn’t playing after paying £70 million for position we needed to fill.

You people said this exact same stuff when Ole was picking Dan James. Now Dan James is on the verge of being a rarely used substitute for Fulham after a long stint as an out of favour substitute for Leeds, who signed him for £20m and nearly got relegated. If we sold Mctominay today, he'd be a rarely-used sub at a tiny club in less than 12 months. He is not a good football player by any objective measurement.

I agree. Five subs is important as we can change half the team if need be.

This is the Premier League, you can't arrive from foreign land and expect to start straight away.
Come on, he's not replacing prime Paul Scholes here. Let's drop this "le Premier League" arrogant nonsense here. The Premier League ain't that massively different from La Liga. It might be better, but it's not like he was playing amateur football there.

It can’t be that big of a surprise that we gonna ease in Casemiro, though? We’re playing Arsenal on Sunday so he’ll get around 30min today and start on Sunday.

McT's best games tend to come when the midfield is in absolute no control of the game and we're forced to defend deep, like the second half against Pool and the game against Southampton.

It's really hard to say he deserves to stay in the lineup, because it's really hard to control a game with him as the midfield anchor.

If he was 24 sure, but someone who may only be here a couple of years you obviously expect him to get as many minutes as possible and up to speed as soon as possible. Especially for the fee.

Right. Let's build up some more momentum ahead of the Arsenal fixture. Come on United!

That's a problem in it of itself because his job is precisely to prevent that from happening. That's why I dislike the talk that McTominay played well against Southampton because he defended well when Southampton pinned us down. His job is to prevent that from happening in the first place.
