Would be daft to sit back but you know we will. I just think their defence can be got at and we'd do better to take the game to them.

Their pace in attack means that we would just open ourselves to being torn to shreds.

It's what Wenger stupidly did playing into Klopp's hands.

Play like we did last season there, this time with the pace to hit them on the counter.

This. Play on counter and we can really do them - Lukaku will have a field day against that defence.

    Somewhere they can't find me.
Beat their pressing. Sitting back for 90 minutes would be agony to watch and quite unnecessary. Their defence is shit and midfield has no balance or control. Press the shit out of them, contain that attack to their own half for a change.

Maybe you're right. Still, I'm not by any means saying we should be naive and go in all guns blazing. Just don't want to see us park the bus completely.

Away to Liverpool - of course Jose will go more defensive than he has all season and so he should.

    2-1 us

I'm quite optimistic about this. Would there be any merit to playing 3 at the back here, Lindelof included? I hate seeing a high press against us when we play Smalling.
I think we can cause them some serious problems with our attack and I think we're better in midfield.

Tough game for us. Defensively everyone knows how terrible we are and United have the players to hurt us on the counter. We’ll need the likes of Coutinho, Mane and Salah to be on form.

I don’t think a draw would be terrible for either side assuming we beat Newcastle tomorrow.

Can see Mourinho going horribly defensive and snatching a 1-1.

We should really be testing that defence of theirs.
    Return of the King Bus.

Hopefully it's a good game for once. The Old Trafford match was pretty decent last season but the Anfield tie was fecking dire viewing.

    I'd take a score draw.
Given what we've seen from Mourinho (especially this season) and given the players we now have, what makes you think he will go all defensive?

Ffs, they seem to come like school holidays nowadays. I don't know why they can't just have them in a neutral place and play the 5/6/7 qualifiers in two stints instead of home and away to teams like San Marino and Gibraltar. I long ago stopped giving a flying feck about international football, just interrupts the proper season and chances injuries for meaningless games.
Tbh I think 95% of football fans couldn't give a toss about England anymore and yeah it's annoying seeing players leave and risk injuries for some pointless matches.

Has to be Darmian at LB. Mane will destroy Young.

I don't see us playing this without Fellaini, even if he didn't score twice today.

We need to go for a win. If we're content being defensive in big matches well be a few points behind City come the derby.

Mane plays on the left, Salah plays on the right. But Salah's movement is world class, so yeah, Darmian would be my choice.

Hey, this is their Champions' League final. You better believe they'll raise their game.

Probably gonna be the biggest game we've faced so far. Putting all bias aside, they really have some quick players, and stopping them would be key to winning this one.

Considering everything, Young will start ahead of everyone else, and will need to have Mane to deal with - probably will determine how Mourinho lines up for the big games this season!

This is going to be the first real test for our defense since Real Madrid.

We will need our back 4 at our best. Other than that given how Liverpool's defense is basically championship level, I think we will be fine.

    Early Predicted Lineup:
    _____________________________________________________________________
    1. de Gea

    25. Valencia 3. Bailly 4. Jones 36. Darmian

    27. Fellaini 31. Matic 6. Pogba

    22. Mkhitaryan 9. Lukaku 19. Rashford
    _____________________________________________________________________
    Bench:
    20. Romero, 12. Smalling, 18. Young, 21. Herrera, 8. Mata, 14. Lingard, 11. Martial

    Predicted Score:
Liverpool 0-3 Man Utd (Lukaku, Fellaini, Martial)
Might be too optimistic on Pogba but wouldn't surprise me to see him suddenly appear on the team sheet. Return date from a normal hamstring injury is about right. If he isn't ready one of Herrera or Mata (probably Mata) can come in.

The game against CSKA was a practice session for the 3-4-3 we are going to use against Liverpool.
And I think I agree with Jose on this one. Salah-Mane on the wings would be too hot to handle with a 4 man defence.
Need a Pogba in these sorts of games though. Would be sorely missed.

So Mata is going to do a man marking job on someone? Because that is what Jose will want someone to do.

I'll be satisfied by a draw but we can nick a goal and escape with a win imo.

Won't predict line-up now. Let's see what will happen in the break.

First of all we need luck to not get any injuries over another one of these dreadful international breaks.

Hopefully, if we use the same tactics we did at Anfield last year, having Lukaku rather than Zlatan might make it work better.
If there's even a chance of Pogba being back that would be incredible. But probably not the sort of game to come back into when you've been out anyway.

We'll park the bus and draw. 1-1 I reckon, Coutinho and Martial to score.

I would be more confident if this game hadn't come after the stupid International break.

We always seem disjointed after it and Liverpool will press us like crazy.

Herrera-Matic-Fellaini midfield. I'd start Martial and Rashford, think it'd force their wingbacks way into their own half.
