    Di Maria has to start.
IMO we need a team who can defend and score goals.
Falcao, Di Maria and RVP need to stay away.
The confidence of the players who played in the last game will be high, so we need to take advantage of this and play with that team.
Di Maria on the bench, will definitely be an option, so if we are struggling to make an impression, we can bring on Di Maria and see if he can do anything.

Still have to get through tonight, concentrate on Swansea first.
Yeah sure, won't be easy at all, an early lead would be ideal. A win tonight would be massive, the build up to the game next Sunday would be even more intense (for me personally at least).

LvG will get this one right as well. He will set us up having analyzed Liverpool thoroughly. They will need a win, we will have more of the ball. Very interesting game, looking forward to it.

I think Pool will have more of the ball, with their formation they dominate midfield completely.

Our best chance is to park the bus and hope for a miracle.

We have gone there in the past with some of our best teams, had players sent off, been played off the park and still come away with a win.

We have the second highest average possession percentage in the league after City, significantly higher than Liverpool's. It's not necessarily been a good thing, but we have racked up some absurdly dominant possession stats (plenty of games in the high seventies). And we've dominated possession against the big teams too - in our recent FA cup defeat to Arsenal, for example.

So for good or ill, I'd say there's a strong chance we'll have more possession than Pool.

I just watched 1st half of the game against Liverpool at Old Trafford and tbh we were Lucky they didn't score, so many mistakes was made and it was mainly because Liverpool pressed so high that we couldn't find a pass out of defence. If we have most possession it is probably going to be our defenders having it, and then i will think we are in trouble. Fellaini could prove useful being a target man and holding up the ball which will prove a better solution than passing our way out.

I really have alot of respect for the way Liverpool play, they are very good in this formation and there is not alot of flaws in it, but if anyone can get us a win against that at Anfield it is LvG.

God I'd love us to smash this lot. Would be beautiful.

Surprised a United win is dominating the predictions. A Liverpool win is definitely the safer bet. They could have 9 men and Gerrard in central midfield and I still wouldn't be confident at Anfield.

    - City away we played well at times but didn't get a result.
    - Southampton away we played poorly but got the win
    - Arsenal away, we played OK and got the win
    - Spurs away, we played well but drew.

Coming off our best performance of the season and given our away form in the bigger matches, I think we can get a draw at least. Rooney is usually poor at Anfield so we'll need someone to step up.

Still say 4pts from the trio of Liverpool/City/Chelsea matches will do it, and that we can't lose this one.

LVG teams usually have a lot of luck going for them. Same with Mourinho. Same with Fergie. So, get used to "luck" playing a part in our play.

The other thing is that we need to stop looking at ourselves as the underdogs.
We are ahead of Liverpool in the league. We beat them this season once already. We know how to dominate possession and beat top teams.
At least add some balance to all the negativity.
I can only think that this underdog mentality has come about after the Moyes' season last year. If so, just remember, we now have a World class manager in charge now, who knows how to win big games.

I really have alot of respect for the way Liverpool play...
Me too. But I have more respect for the way we play, probably because I'm a Man Utd fan and not a LFC fan.

Its going to be a close game and not a walkover for either team.

Interesting stat on Monday night football:

Liverpool last 6 away games-0 goals conceded:

That's definitely ending tonight, when they highlight stats like these, they always end!

Why were people originally saying that Liverpool would have to play their FA Cup replay this week?

Relax mate, the luck is part of football in the end we won a fair game, i'm not taking anything away from our win.

We are underdogs there, every english club is that at Anfield atm, not saying we can't Get a draw, but i think we need some luck to take a win there.

I also added that if someone could Get the tactics right to take a win there it Was LvG, there is youre balance to negativity.

Btw, they have proven to be bad against deep Compact defenses, that's why i'm saying park the bus.

They're nothing special. Lucky to all hell though, so we'll still probably lose.

We will be outplayed as always on Anfield. Can't see us going near them. 3-0, Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling will destroy Uniteds defence with Phil Jones as a headless chicken. Red card for Rojo if he's playing.

Let's play like we did 1st half against Spurs, forcing Rodgers to sub out Gerrard after half an hour :D

We could get some joy out of Can and whoever plays right wing back for Liverpool. Can is quite poor in the air despite his size and Fellaini will eat him for breakfast if he pulls on him like he did to Dier and Walker.

I'd keep Blind at left back as him and Young worked well. We can really get at Liverpool down that side. Their right wing back won't be a natural defender, and even if it's Johnson, he's crap anyway.

Even if Liverpool played like shite against Swansea that won't matter at all on Sunday. They'll be right up for it and so should we.

Sterling and Markovic have very good defensive awareness as wingbacks. And I'd love Blind at left back, he'd have a mare one v one against Sterling.

This season in eight games against other sides in the top seven, we've conceded five goals, and you expect us to concede three at Anfield?

Agreed. Everyone always saying how we'll get battered by the Liverpools, the Chelsea's and the City's. United are a lot harder to score against this season. The only times we lost by 2 or more goals was that travesty to Leicester away and the MK Dons embarrassment.

If we're going to lose, it'll be by a goal.

Also add the fact that Liverpool aren't exactly the goal scoring juggernaut they were last season. They've lost Suarez but their defence has greatly improved.

The simple solution to that is not to let him get 1v1. Young provides decent defensive cover. Not to mention if we defend deep like I expect us to pace won't matter. We can also work an overload on that side, with Fellaini operating in that channel he did so effectively against Spurs and getting a 3 v 2.

Going aerial to Fellaini against Can would be a worthwhile tactic. Can has a tendency to misjudge the ball in the air, typically he runs underneath it, and this results in his headers going nowhere where he intended it (if he even heads it). He'll have a high probability of screwing a few up, let alone one.
