Brighton play the game in a very similar way to Teny so more than ever it'll come down to player performances. Need a big start, get an early goal and build on the momentum. Come on United, fly out of the blocks!

Isn’t it weird seeing all these lineups with Rashford and Martial automatically starting when you think of the horrific seasons they have both recently had. What’s more scary is there’s no other realistic options. That’s how light we are in forward areas.

    DDG

    DD
    Lindelof
    Martinez
    Shaw

    Fred
    Eriksen
    Bruno

    Sancho
    Martial
    Rashford

    2-1

Was excited to see the new match day thread created then scrolled down to see this abomination.

I’m looking forward to opening day and Ten Hag being welcomed to a packed Old Trafford. Please can you go and do your cry baby routine elsewhere?
I'm happy we got Ten Had but the club is run terribly and aren't even trying to compete

I'd like to think he will be brave from the off and potentially play players on their preseason form:

    De gea
    Dalot. Maguire. Martinez. Malacia
    Fred iqbal eriksen
    Sancho martial Rushford

Mctominay has done nothing of note in preseason so the only reason to pick him to start over others is safety and his previous apps

Saw Shaw in the latest training pictures but nothing of Sancho. He might still be ill.... hopefully not

I am going for 3-2 win for man UTD with Ronaldo match winning header in dying minutes on the way.

We owe these a revenge hammering. I think they will get one, albeit with the usual Welbeck goal at some point.

I’m expecting to see this starting line up,

De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, Fred, McTominay, Bruno, Sancho, Martial, Rashford

Think we might shit the bed in game one.
    1-2 or 2-2

The main question is does ETH go with the new lads?...I'd be very tempted to start Eriksen and Martinez, just to emphasize that things have changed and it is a new-ish start for the club.

Going with McFred and Maguire/Lindelof could be safer but also not as exciting.

Either way it will be good to watch a competitive match again.

The pessimism in here is crazy, but not surprising.

I'm going 2-1 win, but it could easily be a 4-1.

We have a better XI than Brighton, a better manager who's just won the league in Holland, and we're at home.

I get that we ended last season in horrific fashion, but to think that it's going to be the same again just because we have the same players is madness. We've made fundamental changes to our playing style and players have been given new roles and instructions. Players seem energised with renewed confidence and enthusiasm; and they have not yet downed tools like they did last season.

Does anybody think that this Brighton would beat ETH Ajax from last season? How many of the players from that Ajax team would get into this United XI?

You know it's not as simple as that right.

It’s going to be great going back to Old Trafford this Sunday, hopefully minus the toxicity that was apparent last year and with some optimism. Having said that, with the slow progress in the transfer market and that we are still developing the team, this game is going to be a tough one.

I don’t see many big changes to what we’ve seen pre season apart from maybe Malacia muscling his way in after a good display last weeekend:

    DDG

    Dalot
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Malacia

    Fred
    McTominay
    Fernandes

    Sancho
    Martial
    Rashford

Going for a 1-1 draw though hoping that Brighton’s loss of Bissouma and other unrest with players potentially going could mean they underperform relative to what they did last year.

Tickets secured for this one :D

Hopefully FDJ will be unveiled on the pitch aka Varane style...

My team if all fit would be
    DDG
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Eriksen Fred
    Bruno
    Sancho Martial Garnacho

    Likely team will be
    DDG
    Dalot Maguire Lindelof Malacia
    McT Fred
    Bruno
    Elanga Martial Rashford

If Sancho is still unwell, then not sure what other options he has other than maybe bringing Eriksen in and pushing Bruno out wide, Our attacking options are limited, 1 or 2 injuries and we are going to struggle with scoring goals, with the squad we have now. Hopefully Sancho is ready..

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
It'll be interesting, to say the least. From both a tactical and performance point of view.

I'm expecting the standard first 11 from pre-season, no starts for new signings just yet. The question will be who steps in if Sancho can't play? Would he play it safe and go Elanga or perhaps Eriksen, or will he put Garnacho in?

Ffs, we're gonna lose to Brighton again aren't we? Ronaldo or Amad?

So either Ronaldo starting this weekend, or Elanga on the left with Rashford top, or Bruno on the left with Eriksen 10... I don't even know what I would want out of those options. fecks sake Martial. This is why he isn't trusted more. Fitness is horrible.

At least it's only taken until GW1 to see how thin our options are up top.
    It gets worse.

Apparently Sancho is also touch and go for the first game.

We could line up in our first game with a front 3 of Garnacho Rashford Elanga/Amad.

    Absolute joke.

Sancho still isn't in training either. We could be in a situation where Rashford is our only recognised and fit attacker for the 1st game of the season.

Welcome back everyone. Going to start with a 4/0 thrashing of Brighton and also looking forward to the much improved outlook and input of the match day crowd.
Match day forum will, I sense, be dominated by well-argued theoretical arguments, excessive politeness, and super self-aware and knowledgeable insights. The usual, in other words.
