Hopefully we see some of Mkhitaryan... says he is being cautious with him basically and needs time to adapt like willian and di maria did, but with the struggles of others, might as well give him a try. He always worked hard at Dortmund so I don't see why he would need a huge adjusting period.

Recalling he had a very huge (two seasons) adjusting period at Dortmund, let's just hope he only takes half a season here.

Against my better judgment, I think Mourinho will be so desperate for a victory tomorrow that he will force most players physically, risking injuries and bad performances.

Why are so my people including Carrick and Zlatan? Surely they need a rest at their age with only a 2 day break?
Assuming they are rested, I'd like to see:

    DDG
    Val Mike Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera.......Pogba
    Mata
    Martial Rash

Why are so many people sticking Smalling straight back in after that shower of shite against Chelsea?? That's even more unbelievable.

    I'd like to see:

    De Gea
    Valencia Blind Rojo Shaw
    Mkhitaryan Herrera Mata
    Pogba
    Martial Rashford

Would be nice to get the game sewn up by 60 minutes, get Pogba off and give Depay and Schneiderlin run-outs to give them a chance to prove themselves.

We need a big result against Burnley, failure is unacceptable against the sides we're facing in the next few games if we are to at least stay close to the top.

Ditto, exactly what I have gone for, more hope than expectation.

A 4-0 would be nice, to recover the GD difference that took a thumping vs Chelsea, but that is highly unlikely.

If we do not win this, then it's absolutely unforgivable. No excuses.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    Herrera--Pogba
    Rashford--Mata--Martial
    Ibrahimovic

subs: Romero, Rojo, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Rooney

If Rash is a little too tired to start then go with Lingard.

Because the alternative is Rojo who plays like Smalling did against Chelsea 90% of the time.

That may well be but Rojo's been playing better than Smalling at the moment. We were solid with Valencia, Bailly, Blind and Shaw at the back till Smalling came back in. He's absolute rubbish!

Rojo's had one half decent game against City reserves. We had Blind and Bailly against City's first team and it was a disaster. For Burnley at home it shouldn't matter either way but no doubt we'll make hard for ourselves.

Yeah you're probably right! We just need to give a team a good hammering....just for once! It's been a while. :(

On paper this team should be absolutely battering the likes of Burnley, but we all know the footballing gods just don't roll that way. So in light of this highly controversial religious phenomenon I will happiliy settle for a comfortable 1-0 win.

    *edit

Just noticed my post count reads 1234, this clearly means that we will put 5 past Burnley. Gods be damned!

    Valencia - Blind - Rojo - Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mata - Ibrahimovic - Martial
Burnley will sit deep and defend in numbers, just like they did against Liverpool. This makes Mata a vital player, but also I feel Martial should get the nod ahead of the less technical Rashford and Lingard. Both are good options from the bench though when the game gets stretched in the latter stages.

Ibrahimovic will be important too, as he will compete with their strong centre backs and give us an aerial presence, a target for our crosses. Against Liverpool, they were able to force them wide and defend their own box against Firmino with consummate ease, but against Ibra they may see that as a risk.

Carrick is key in allowing Herrera and Pogba to join the attack and overload certain areas of the pitch, as well as allowing them to press higher up. If Carrick is struggling, I'd prefer to see Blind take his place, and Smalling move into the back four, or Herrera dropped deeper and Schneiderlin given a chance to press high up. Both scenarios free up Pogba but I'd still rather rely on Carrick if possible.

Mkhitaryan and Memphis should get minutes from the bench.

Andre Gray is available for this match, so he'll definitely be up for it.

Burnley have conceded 3 goals every away match in the Premier League thus far. Here's hoping that this trend continues tomorrow and ends with all the points for United.

That wouldn't surprise me, what surprises me is that 44% of the Express' readers think he will "bounce back".

I think we could take a chance in starting Mkhitaryan for this one. He needs a chance and I think this would be a decent game to give him a run out.
I'd keep faith with Ibra, he needs a goal (or two) to get back in the groove but it would also be nice to see Martial come back in.

Hard to look past starting Carrick, Herrera and Mata but of course, Pogba needs to keep playing, to get up into top form.

I don't know how we'd fit all those into the starting lineup, though.

Blind must play at CB. We simply don't have a defender as calm and composed as him but at LB, he can get done for pace.

If Rooney starts over Mata I have no idea what Jose is thinking.
This is the perfect match for Mkhitaryan to start. Also good to see how well Blind and Rojo can get on.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Blind - Rojo - Shaw
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mata
    Mkhitaryan - Ibrahimovic - Rashford

Mata has to start after that performance. I would have dropped Smalling if Bailley wasn't injured but think we'all be forced to play him. Shaw back in at left back also please.

Going for a nervy 1-0 home win. Think both Pogba and Ibra will play. Think Ibra needs a rest but he has started all games this season and dont see Mourinho changing that. Hope Mata and Martial start with Lingard and Carrick dropping out

Have you checked the poll question? Maybe it was " what will happen if Rooney was thrown at the ground" .

Need dominant performances from Zlatan and Pogba today. If you can't do it against the big boys right now then at least bully some minnows for us.
