We have to start the season better than last year, if we want to keep the dream of the title alive.
It's been difficult in pre-season due to the Euros and the extended break for some players. So for me, the performance is not important in the first few matches, we just need to win. No matter what. Then the nice football can follow later.
I couldn't care less how we start, and who is in the line-up. I guess it almost gives it self.

I think we will score 2-3 in the first half and tire in the second which will enable Leeds to get 1 back. 3-1 or 2-1 mmmm Will say 3-1 Greeenwood Martial Fernandes to score.

i'm presuming (and hope) we go with this:

    ----------------------------------------------De Gea------------------------------
    AWB---------------------LIndelof--------------------Maguire-----------------Shaw
    ------------------------------------Fred--------------Mctominay--------------------------------
    Sancho----------------------------------Bruno-------------------------------------Pogba
    -----------------------------------------Greenwood-------------------------------------

    Subs - Cavani, DVB, James

The only positions I had to think about were the GK, partner for Fred and if Pogba plays........ If Pogba doesn't play, i'd imagine it will be Greenwood on the Right with Sancho on the left.

I doubt Ole will play Greenwood as a striker. The only striker we have available is Martial.

I think Sancho and Greenwood will flank Martial with Pogba playing deeper with Matic.

Not explicitly, no - I'd say it's a 50-50 depending on how sharp he's been in training.
How I'd love to see him start. Something to really get excited about. Martial, Greenwood and Sancho could be a lovely front three in terms of entertainment value.

James always plays against Leeds and i expect him to do so this time. Dont think Sancho or Varane start, Sancho will be on bench.
I expect Matic to start as he has had a good full preseason and looked ok in the games.

    AWB Maguire 'Nice Victor' Shaw

    Greenwood bruno James

    Martial

Meltdown at 11:30 bst when Martial and James start
Those two have no chemistry. If both start we're in trouble.

With Rashford and Cavani out, Ole won't risk not playing Sancho. That's my take at least.

We have to be winning our home games if we want to achieve anything.
    No excuses.
James will start no point beating yourselves up about it.

Play without a CF. Bruno and Greenwood as false nine interchangeably.

As we don’t play until Sunday, I have this down as my game of choice for Saturday and I think it’ll be a cracker.
Leeds had a very high energy start to last season and I think they’ll come out of the blocks like sprinters again but also think that Ole will have considered that and will put out a high energy side to counter that.
Hence, I think Pogba will be on the bench as he dawdles on the ball and gives it away too much against a high press. Though you may get him on the pitch after and hour when legs are tiring and he can come into his own.
I’m keen to see Sancho and recon that he could get a start for the very reason that he performs well in fast games.
If you’re set up to counters the energy that Leeds will put in then you’ll win for sure - fail to match Leed’s output and you’ll struggle due to to tactical naivety, but I think Ole’s beyond daft decisions like that now.

We need Mcfred's energy in midfield, plus you know Ole loves James' defending and running.

This game is blessing in disguise. From fitness point of view if we manage it well, the intensity will help the boys sharpen up quickly and set them right for the next few games.

OGS says that it's unlikely that Sancho will feature against Leeds according to Norwegian TV2. Also says the reason for him starting training so late is because of holiday and that he has been sick. Could very well be mindgames though.

That's disappointing. Two relatively early signings and neither available for the first game of the season.

McTominay to score the winner. He loves matches like these. Defense needs to hold as Leeds will attack no matter the circumstance.

We basically do that whenever Cavani doesn't play anyway as he's our only proper no.9.

    Pretty optimistic ;)

Leeds were a lot more reserved in the return fixture after they got smacked around in the first one. Ole shows them a lot of respect as well and sets up the side like he did in the series of 1-0s we've had against Wolves.

    I suspect something low scoring like a 0-0 / 1-0 / 1-1

Why has the training pictures dried up, there has been no pictures of either Sancho or Varane training with the squad. I am still hopefully that both will be on the bench for saturday, specially as Sancho has been training for a week and Varane resumed training with Madrid for 2 to 3 days or maybe more before flying to UK.

I remember Maguire started the 1st game without having attended any training session with us. However, the major difference was he played all matches in pre-season with Leicester, whereas Varane has not played a single match.

If Varane is registered he will be on the bench. There is no other centre half available, unless Bailly has been accounted for.

Well there are rumours he was involved in training today and as he hasn't been officially announced can't use pics of him yet

    SO PUMPED FOR THIS GAME!!!
If I could like this I would, God how I've missed football!! Really optimistic for this season, the squad is young and hungry and every year we're adding the right type of players.

    GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!

Yessir, this has to be it in my book. I guess Martial could be in for Sancho with more training but I hope you are right.

This would be a big test of VDB. If he can hold against a energetic midfield battle, then he is good to go in my opinion.

Who actually believes Ole will switch to 4-3-3? I don't. That's exactly what we should have done when Pogba first came back into the team when we signed Bruno. 4-3-3 was the obvious formation for those two players. I just can't see Ole doing it. He's never done it before, why should he do it now?
