No Carrick ? That's not a good sign. :nervous:
It's a great sign for me. Probably being rested for the harder away game Vs West Ham where he will be Vital where a 2 man midfield with a #10 should sort out Middlesbrough at home. If he played today I don't see how he would have played Monday based on Joses comments on Carricks recovery ability in such a short space of time.

But Middlesbrough aren't exactly easy to beat, even though it's at OT. They managed to get draws away to Arsenal and City if I am not mistaken. I'm not a fan of the 4-2-3-1 with Pogba in a double pivot. It stifles his creativity. He's much better off in a midfield trio. It was reported by M.E.N that Basti was spotted at The Lowry as well. So if he is given some game time, we could retain our shape and boss the game. Either that or we play Blind at CDM.

Maybe we'll see a return of the all-conquering Fellaini-Pogba midfield.

Looking like Zlatan will be given the chance to get the silly record (just my opinion, it's for a calender year which means feck all and is over 20 goals behind the modern day calender year record anyway), but if he's still able to play at top level for both games then it's fine.

Jones has been great and played a lot of games, but I think we should look at using this game as a chance of Bailly or Smalling to get a start. Carrick is definitely being left out in favour of playing Monday, likely to be replaced by Mata, or perhaps a three of Lingard, Mkhitaryan, and Martial behind Zlatan.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Darmian
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Mata Martial
    Ibrahimovic

That would probably be my preferred set-up. Take off Pogba or Herrera for Fellaini or Schweinsteiger. Zlatan for Rashford, maybe Valencia for Bailly.

When it comes to West Ham, bring back Carrick, Jones, and Blind.

Why on earth would we need to rest defenders? These are professional athletes and they can cope with two games in three days.

The only player that needs rest in our squad is Carrick. The rest are good to go.

Full-backs run crazy amounts in a game. I’m sure some of them will play both matches, but 3 matches in 7 days is a big ask. Tony V is a machine though so he could easily play both games.

Boro drew with Arsenal and City, they know how to play the underdog role. We should take them seriously and try to decide the game already in the first half.

So it's you and that other guy who's thinking LVG did nothing during his time here that now benefits the club

You should go check out his legacy thread. Members have been filling up stuff that he left us with and we've boiled it down to one post - and that one almost covers an entire page.
    Seriously? Why?

I'm actually quite intrigued/excited to see Pogba, Mata, Mkhitaryan all play together.

Full backs, I can get. But centre halves? No way. Jones and Rojo are playing well and it'd be madness to change it up for the sake of rotation. Valencia, who you mention yourself, can easily play three games in a week.

Agree to an extent. I’m pretty sure we’ll have a real physical battle against West Ham on Monday, so playing Bailly/Smalling could be an option.

Middlesbrough are better than Sunderland defensively. This will be very tough.

Awful how much worse the PL package has become in just a few years. We used to get 3 games at 4 pm on Saturdays and for midweek games. First it was cut back to 1 game for Saturday and now it's the same for midweek. And yet we pay even more money.

You'd think the PL would want more exposure around the world and not less.
    Annoying as heck.

What I find bizarre is when I'm in Asia or the Middle East I have no trouble watching any game on live TV.

Yet when I'm England, the home of the feckin Premier League, I have to resort to choppy streams despite paying a fortune for both Sky AND BT neither of whom broadcast certain games. :houllier:

Two days. It's 48 hours between the two games.

City and Liverpool have even less 46 hours.

Chelsea are the team in form yet they have over a whopping 99 hours(4 days) to recover. Can't believe that the FA screwed up these match fixtures to give Chelsea such a respite.

I'm in Norway and coverage used to be great. Now we're basically overpaying for a shittier package.
Why don't they want people in other countries to see as much PL as possible?
