If Mata and RvP are out:

    -------------De Gea------------
    Rafael---Jones----Smalling--Rojo
    -------------Blind----------------
    ---Herrera-----------Di Maria----
    -------------Rooney------------
    ---Wilson/Januzaj-------Falcao

    a 3-5-2 is also possible:

    --------------De Gea-------------
    ----Jones----Smalling---Rojo----
    Rafael----------Blind-------------Young
    ---------Herrera-----Di Maria---------
    ----------------Rooney------------
    -----------------Falcao-----

Is Mata injured? Herrera is supposed to be out longer than Shaw isnt he?
I heard somewhere that Mata would be out for 3-4 weeks. I may be wrong though. Also, I thought Herrera had resumed training last week, it's just he wasn't yet in condition to play in the Burnley match.

Isn't Mata out with a Hamstring injury for a few weeks? Also what about the supposed knee surgery RvP needed?
Mata said that he only had a cramp in his leg, no serious injury. And who knows what is actually up with van Persie, he might need surgery, he might not, he might just not be back to full fitness yet. We'll see.

Fair enough. Who do you think will be dropped if all are fit then?

    Love is Blind
Hopefully we can start with Rojo and have Blind in the midfield to protect the defence. Any three out of Rooney, Mata, di Maria, Falcao, van Persie and Januzaj should, in theory, be enough to beat QPR.

Yeh your right but in theory we should have 9 points and still be in the mickey mouse cup so there is that.

I would really like to see us without Rooney in the lineup. I really feel he is the one who slows us down with his poor touch and him wanting to just switch it to the right all the time. I also feel him dropping back all the time gets in the way of Mata.

I reckon it could also give him a reason to kick on.

Is Shaw back? I am fed up of seeing Ashely young on the left.

If he is, we could definitely go back to a back four.

    --------De Gea--------
    Rafael Jones Evans Rojo
    ---------Blind----------
    ---Herrera---Di Maria---
    ---------Mata----------
    ----Rooney---Falcao----

    3-0.

Why do people keep picking Rafael for their teams? He's been missing in action, and we have no idea what his form is like right now.

I think it'll be Valencia or Young at right wing back.

International duties must always be taken into account for team selection. If Falcao is traveling to Columbia, then there is no way he starts this match.

I think Falcao will have almost a whole week of traning when he returns (They play in Miami I believe), so he could start.

Too early yet because the players I'm looking to choose could still be injured, but I'd like to see:

    De Gea
    Jones - Evans -Rojo
    Blind
Rafael - Herrera - Di Maria - Shaw
    Falcao - Rooney

Is Shaw really able to make a big difference as LWB from Young? Rating him reminds me of you rating the players like Mata.
I would say offensively not much different, but FAR better defensively. That to me helps a lot especially when you can see that teams are focusing all of their attack on what they considered a vastly weak left side.
I get your point. Then how do you think of Rojo as LWB? I believe Rojo can definitely do the better job in defending, not to mention Rojo's capability of offense. So let's take Blackett as one of three backs and drop Shaw. Doesn't it sound a bit more rational?
Could be, but since Rojo has spent time playing as a LCB in a back 3, why not use him in that position, let's be honest as good as Blackett has been, he is still young and needs to be eased in.

Why would we drop our expensive new signing that has shown great potential and PL success over a youth that is just starting?

Mata did go out against Burnley holding his hamstring, but I haven't seen any official news of it.

    Januzaj-----Falcao--Rooney

Yeah, what I read was probably false then. If RVP is also fit for the game, and the knee surgery news is also false, which seems to be the case, then it will be very interesting to see who doesn't make it into the starting line up. My guess is Mata will be dropped and Rooney will play in the hole

The Falcao buy makes me wonder if the RvP news is real, for me it is one of the only thing that makes sense.

I like the look of that formation. A lot of people saying Rooney won't be able to play there but it would be interesting to see how he does. If it doesn't work, another option is to switch Rooney and Di Maria, with Rooney basically acting as the advanced midfielder but Di Maria is much more effective in that position in which you have him than on the wing.

Indeed. However, if it isn't true, it could also be a case of LVG seeing that the Rooney/RVP/Mata trio just isn't working and may be bringing in Falcao to solve that problem at the expense of dropping one of the three. It might make for some interesting competition between Rooney/Mata for the no10 spot and Rooney/Falcao/RVP for the striker spots and allow them all to play to their best, rather than knowing their position is fixed in the team.

Will Rojo be able to play? Are Shaw, Rafael and Ander fit? will we go 4-3-3? I can't do the line ups with all these options unknown!

International break has come at a good time in one respect. Allows the players to get away and also the injured players to get back to fitness. Hopefully some of them will be back such as Shaw, Herrera, Di Maria and Rafael. Rojo will hopefully have his work permit by then. Maybe things are starting to look up. Not sure when Carrick is back but with midfield options we can ease him back in slowly if fit. My team for the day would be a 41212 consisting of:

    De Gea

    Rafael---Jones---Rojo---Shaw

    Blind
    Herrera---Di Maria
    Rooney

    Falcao---RvP
    Substitues:
    Amos
    Smalling
    Evans
    Carrick (If fit)/Fletcher
    Mata
    Januzaj
    Wilson

I guess I'm going to have faith that Falcao can be ready after his international commitments. Van Persie has simply looked injured in every match this season. Against QPR the more attacking Mata is preferable to Herrera's defensive solidity. Shaw's pace would make a difference at wing back, and he won't be cutting back every time on his right foot in order to get the crosses in. Young is just more natural on the right side and offers a little more with his crossing than Valencia. Ultimately I see Evans as playing in the centre of defence where his ball-playing abilities will make it like having an extra midfielder who can interchange with Blind. But for now he looks a bit shaky, so Jones can marshal the defence again. Rojo will be an improvement on the inexperienced Blackett though the latter has been a revelation so far this year.

Why can't this game be here already?!

I have a family wedding the day before so eternally grateful that the game got moved to the Sunday. Would've likely missed it had it been on the Saturday. Although after signing Di Maria and Falcao I'd have had to reconsider! Honestly can't wait...

Very sure LVG will be playing 3-5-2, no way he wil start with anything else unless we need a change on the field

    DDG
    Jones Rojo Blind
    Valencia Rooney Herrera ADM Shaw
    RVP Falcao

The reason to start Blind in LCB is because I dont think LVG has much faith in Smalling or Evans..I think he will prefer Blind in that position...And Valencia will stick to RWB cause LVG seems to like him in that position. He didnt play that bad despite all the criticism..He just need to cross a ball properly.Others position choose themselves basically.

RVP is LVG favourite and he already mention that he needs RVP to start to get fit, so he definitely start..Falcao will start too, he is the best #9 in the world, no way he will sit on the bench.

This leaves Rooney out of the strikers but he is our captain..I think he will be drop to Mata position in the midfield and Mata will have to sit on the bench for now..Herrera will be our deepest midfield while ADM and Rooney will be playing in front of herrera.

The prospect of both strikers are capable of scoring and even Both CM playing up front can score are just so exciting...Cant wait for the game now!

Is failing to beat Swansea, Sunderland and Burnley not a big enough indicator that a change on the field is needed?

He has players more suited for a 4-2-3-1/4-2-1-2-1/4-3-3 than he does for a 3-5-2. The only reason to stick with a 3-5-2 is because he's stubborn. There's no actual objective reason to use 3-5-2 anymore, especially with Shaw and Rafa back.
