If you're defending a corner, and don't jump, expect to be clattered. He's not under obligation to jump, but he'll get battered if he just stands still. Lindelof jumped normally, is it his fault that his leap had his knee at face level and the other guy didn't jump? That's just not a foul for me. Eyes fully on the ball and trying to jump for it.He led with his knee into the players face. The opponent is not obligated to jump simply to avoid a knee to the face especially when the ball was not within reach of either player.
Disagree - I think if he's contesting the ball (not off the ball like happened here) it should count. If he wins the header and then falls onto a defender and accidentally his elbow catches his face, is that ruled out? If his hip hits the face is that better than the knee?I don't think there's a context in which flying that high with the knee into someone's face is not a foul. And rightly so.
But great header from Tuanzebe.
Im in two minds here...Tuanzebe scores - Var - no goal foul from Lindeloff
Lets not get ahead of ourselvesGoal incoming?
Amazing people don't get this. Running knee jump into the guys headHe led with his knee into the players face. The opponent is not obligated to jump simply to avoid a knee to the face especially when the ball was not within reach of either player.
That's the baffling partSo when has Lindeloff EVER jumped half that high to defend a ball into our box?
Maybe can't jump. But can fly thoughSo Lindelof can actually jump????
You said he's improvedLets not get ahead of ourselves
It’s a weird one, it’s not something I remember seeing. I think I’d disallow it purely on the strength of him being kneed in the head, it feels like it should be a foul. But by the same token, I do agree with those asking what Lindelof is supposed to do? He’s challenging for the ball, and their player decides not to. Lindelof is the one meeting a high ball, he’s gone towards the play. It’s not his fault the opponent decides to stay planted to the floor.I feel like it would be - RS player is hit in the head because he doesn't challenge. Lindelof isn't leading with his arms or anything like that. I get that off the ball they should disallow it but surely not if he scores from that jump?
He had big a run at it though. Makes a big difference compared to a standing jump.So when has Lindeloff EVER jumped half that high to defend a ball into our box?
It wasn't even 99% of the posters in this exceptionally quiet matchday threadSo not weird that it was universally called weird by 99% of this forum?
We completely ignored him when he came on in the first leg toohas this diallo lad on the pitch ? no where to be seen
Have you seen the replay? What more outrageous is lindelof got yellow for jumping and crashing into another player...in crowded box
So the Sociedad is at fault because he stayed where he was? The Spaniard was minding his own business and poor guy had his head thumped by Lindelof was clattering into him. Have a look at it again. I cannot believe this is even a debate. It wasn't just a free kick against Lindelof he was lucky not to get sent off for dangerous play. But I agree as well. The defender didn't jump. He was never going to get the ball. Lindelof jumped. The knee is there because the defender didn't jump, that shouldn't be ruled out.
For a changeSome bizarre views and posts in here.
It’s obviously accidental. Not lindelofs fault the stupid cnut was day dreaming.Fecking hell, watching that replay. How does anyone think that's not a foul and then some...
That is the clearest foul you'll see all seasonLindelof
Then adjust and play different tactics and formation. He doesn't have to play one way you know especially being up 4 nil. Calling me a clown....FFS. We have 3midfieders out..you clown
He hasn't led with his knee. He's jumped trying to head the ball and because the defender hasn't made an effort to compete for the ball, he's taken the knee/thigh to the head.He led with his knee into the players face. The opponent is not obligated to jump simply to avoid a knee to the face especially when the ball was not within reach of either player.
You'll have to buy paper plates so you don't have to do it any more.
If I get a new tagline out of this I'm blaming you two and SirA.Could you do mine?
Shouldnt be standing thereAmazing people don't get this. Running knee jump into the guys head
