It’s obviously accidental. Not lindelofs fault the stupid cnut was day dreaming.
Quite simply to me because if their player jumps and tries to get it and competes in the air, he doesn't get battered by Lindelof and instead they just crash into each other like any normal aerial duel. You stand still while opponents are running and jumping for the ball... I don't know what else can happen other than getting clattered?
It would make sense if the ball was actually in the vicinity to be reach by Victor...it was miles away if you see the replay.

Not our fault their defender knows what is a reachable ball and Victor doesn't.
Defending by jumping when you know the ball is so far away that you jumping actually puts you at a disadvantage when the ball actually comes down is just dumb, which is why he didn't jump and actually was trying to prepare for any second ball, hence turning straight into Lindelof's almost knee.

He hasn't led with his knee. He's jumped trying to head the ball and because the defender hasn't made an effort to compete for the ball, he's taken the knee/thigh to the head.

If anything, it was a foul by the defender because he's made no attempt for the ball and completely taken out the attacker.

You either outlaw jumping for the ball or you let that goal stand. You can't just start penalising fellas for jumping too high.
come on, your on a wind up, you must be.

Yes, it constitutes dangerous play, and is called a foul all over the pitch. If it wasn't, you'd tell a Zlatan to taekwondo the shit out of everyone in box. And then it'd be a different sport altogether. A stray elbow would normally also be called a foul, but it's a more natural occurrence, and more subjective.

A knee to the face at that height is not subjective at all.
This Zlatan part makes no sense.

I'm genuinely asking why it should be disallowed IF the player challenging wins the ball completely fairly (i.e doesn't lead with hands or gain extra leverage) and then some part of his body makes contact with the head of a defender who basically has decided not to even challenge. It's actually safer to challenge for the defender.

In this instance I have no problem with the goal being disallowed because Lindelof is nowhere near the ball but it is an interesting question because essentially you are saying any accidental contact whatsoever with the head with any amount of force immediately means it's a foul. Especially interesting as a lot of people called Lindelof soft when the WBA striker grabbed his face deliberately the other week but that was apparently fine.

Sociedad are such party poopers. We finally have our young guys on and they won't let us have the ball!

If you're defending a corner, and don't jump, expect to be clattered. He's not under obligation to jump, but he'll get battered if he just stands still. Lindelof jumped normally, is it his fault that his leap had his knee at face level and the other guy didn't jump? That's just not a foul for me. Eyes fully on the ball and trying to jump for it.
No that was absolutely not a normal jump. Lindelof took off from the middle of the box and took a leap, travelling laterally as well as vertically. It is the lateral movement that makes the jump not "normal", and is also the reason why his knees go first whereas in what you might call a normal jump, a player leads with his arms.

You may be remembering the incident as though they were jostling for the ball and then Lindelof simply jumped and the opponent stood still. In fact, the opponent was not even aware of Lindelof's presence because Lindelof was nowhere near him at the moment the ball was played, and he had no business flying into the player like that because the ball was nowhere near reachable.

Even if he got the ball, the rules of the game forbid you from endangering opponents with uncontrolled challenges which is what Lindelof's jump was. In another context, it could have been a great header but on this occasion, it was a foul that put the opponent at very serious risk.

You're all advocating for defenders to be allowed to stand underneath attackers when they jump for the ball in order to win free kicks and I'm the crazy one.
That didn’t happen with the Lindelof foul though.

Just standing won't win you freekicks. But an attacker running in and then kneeing their face will get them freekicks,

 You should apply to the rules committee and get laughed out of each meeting.
