Pellistri is apparently training with the first team as well, so maybe he can also have a debut?

Definitely need Martial to get a confidence boost here - it would be such a bonus if all 4 of our attackers are firing on all cylinders.

Rest for Shaw, and to a degree Pogba as well.
Hopefully his hat trick against them is in his mind from last season, would be huge and almost unfair if him and Greenwood hit last years purple patch again

I’d bring in Matic for this one and play Van de Beek alongside him. The latter needs a few games and Pogba could do with a night off. Bruno returns at #10.

Ideally, we’d save Cavani for the Arsenal game but I’m not sure we’re in a position to do that. If Rashford is fit then we can, I guess. Martial up top and Greenwood down the right.

I'll be surprised if Rashford is risked after the injury he picked up yesterday. Martial scored a hattrick in this fixture last season so this might be a good game for him to rediscover his goal scoring touch. Pogba for me needs to play in a central position on Wednesday.
Forgot about Rashford. Hope he's OK for this match. Martial could have scored a 100 goals against them last time, he's just so out of form and seems lethargic. If he plays I hope he does start to perform. It's about time.

Wouldn't mind seeing Pogba in midfield, but I'd definitely go with two wide attackers with Cavani up top, so that right wing slot is maybe asking for Diallo :wenger:

VDB in all games like this, we've got to give him a chance to gel.

Best thing Ole and this team have done is make us look forward to watching football. Games have been dramatic and thoroughly enjoyable. Hope we score a couple tomorrow to start fixing our goal difference.

It’s a game we must win. But we don’t want anymore injury to any player. Rotation is the key. Even if the injury doubt of Rashford turns out to be nothing, we’re better to giving him a one-game rest. The game is definitely expected to be very physical and tough.
The Blades are woeful and many players, especially Rashford and Maguire, need a rest. I would go with:

    De Gea
    AWB - Bailly - Lindelof - Telles
    Matic - DVB
    Greenwood - Mata - James
    Martial

But I think Ole will play Bruno.
Rashford did not start against Fulham. If he’s injured he’s injured, but if not, he should play.

Against Sheffield Ole has lots of options. He can basically play anybody barring
    Mctominay, James and Lingard.
Those 3 aren't suited for this match because they don't provide enough creativity against bus packers.

    I'd go with

    De Gea
    Williams Maguire Bailly Telles
    Fred Pogba
    Greenwood Fernandes Rashford
    Cavani

Pogba has also played a lot of games recently so i'm hoping he gets a rest and is fresh for Arsenal. I would rest:

    Cavani,
    Pogba,
    Rashford.

I’d rest Cavani after two games, he didn’t look quite as mobile as midweek.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Telles

    Fred
Donny (think he needs a few games in a row)
    Bruno

    Greenwood
    Martial
    Pogba
I understand if you think Cavani needs a rest but if you said he didn't look mobile midweek, that's crazy. He is the perfect #9 that United have been urging for. He was amazing and there are no 2 ways about it.

    Cavani,
    Pogba,
    Rashford.
Pohba is in amazing form, I dont think he needs a rest, just if we ever get a comfortable lead take him off.
Anyway if he is off in the summer, run him into the ground!!

We need that early goal to make this a an easy night. If we aren't winning by 60 minutes, then they'll be setting up shop for the 0-0 with 6 at the back.

I'm on board with giving Pogba a rest - we have Arsenal on the weekend and he seems to like playing against them.
VDB again would do me good.

    De Gea

    AWB
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Telles (A rest for Shaw)

    Matic
    VDB

    Greenwood
    Bruno
    Rashford

    Martial

If Rashford still injured, then unfortunately Cavani will have to make due without a rest.
I'd be open to give James a crack in this game too. Let's see how he performs with the added pressure of Diallo joining us. If he wants a career here, he needs to show how he performs when competition is racking up.

Yeah put Donny in for Pogba. Martial in for Rashford. Cavani shouldn't need a rest at this stage though. He hasn't played much.

Yeah spot on. Push right up and turn up the heat on these lot. Let's go at them tonight. Full backs being played in on the overlap. Midfielders breaking into the box. Let's try and make a statement tonight. Come on United

Rashford's scan was all clear but I'd rather we rested him and play Greenwood instead so that he can build on the momentum of the good performance and goal he got against Liverpool.

Hope Amad gets on the bench too!

I really don’t understand why people keep putting mata in their starting line ups on the wing! He was never useful for us there when he was first signed let alone now he’s 75. Love the little guy but I don’t think he should be starting prem games, and if he does it’s for Bruno with a free role.
Rashford Greenwood martial + pogba now can all rotate those wide areas and under drastic measures James

Would be nice to see diallo in the squad with a sub appearance if we get a couple goals ahead
Mata was great out there against Newcastle. Joined everything up and got us moving up the pitch well.

Greenwood Martial Rashford(James if he isn't fit)

Maguire needs a rest and an easy game like this is the perfect opportunity to give him one. Also Bruno needs a rest and Arsenal game is massive a few days later, bring him on if we're struggling.

    Fully expecting 3 points.

Ole, if you’re reading this, use Paul Ince’s primary tactic. Ramsdale is really really bad, as in, same level as Kepa bad.

But Ramsdale saves a shot every now and then, whereas with Kepa everything goes in by default

Looks like Rashford is fine, so might start over Cavani.

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Bailly Maguire Telles
    Pogba Matic
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Martial
    ---
Subs: Diallo, van de Beek, Tuanzebe/Cavani

Hoping we can put them to the sword early and win 3- or 4-0. They have a lot of players missing and are struggling.

They'll park the bus and counter, think i'd prefer to play Cavani in this one and keep Martial for Arsenal as he's better at counter attacking.

DDG, Telles, Bailly, Maguire, AWB, Fred, Pogba, Fernandes, Rashford, Cavani, Greenwood

Proper banana skin, last time they played us I felt they'd get points and get to safety easy... maybe they were just game raising cnuts.
Game raising? We gifted them 2 goals.. as usual.

They were crap but worked hard and they still will.
We won’t take them lightly...every game is cup final from now on

This is no time to tinker or rest excessively despite Sheffield United's poor form and missing players. We need a decisive win to build confidence. Sheffield United were really easy to get in behind, when we played them away, so I would go with all our pacey forwards and Bruno and Pogba to supply the passes. Bailly to come back in to allow us to play a higher line.

    DDG
    AWB - Maguire - Bailly - Telles
    Pogba - Matic
    Greenwood - Bruno - Rashford
    Martial
If Rashford's knee is still a bit dodgy, we could start Dan James, or even go Mata on the right, Greenwood on top and Martial on the left.
