Very important game that early in the season. With another defeat or even a draw you would already fall back a lot behinds the leader which would pile up the pressure massively for the next games. A win could give you a big moral boost, though.

I expect a close game with both teams fighting for every ball with little things deciding the match. Both this had a very bad pre-season and will be far from their best. Also, I expect both teams to be tactically prepared and not giving the other team much space. Your last two home games against Spurs have also been very close with both teams putting in good performances.

I really hope Matic will be back for this one as today has shown how important he is for the stability of the team. It will be difficult to be ready so soon after his injury, but considering his great mentality I think it could be possible. Maybe Jose should also bring Herrera or Fellaini back to the team because I am not sure if Fred is ready for such a game. Also, Fellaini looked quite good today considering the circumstances.

In defense, Smalling should return to the team since I am afraid that Kane would physically destroy Lindelof. As Spurs played with three at the back in their last game, I can also imagine Jose trying to match the formation and also going with three central defenders giving the team more stability (especially if Matic is not ready for the game). The formation also worked pretty well in your home game against them last year where you played one of your best matches of the season.

In attack it would be great to have Sanchez back, but I don´t think this is very likely. I just don´t want to see Mata anywhere near the team.

I do expect three at the back here if Spurs revert back to it. Be surpised if Chris Smalling doesn't start. I can't see Martial or Mata playing.

This will definitely be either a draw or a loss. After today I don't feel confident going against any single team in the league. If we don't get 3 points in this game top 4 is gone.

We need to win. The idiot players need to wake up. Mourinho need to do something, anything, to show he has control.

Would like to see Herrera or Matic start this. When’s Matic out til?

Just need a bit of experience and composure in the middle. As good as I’m hoping Andreas and Fred will be, I don’t think they’re ready to boss the midfield yet alongside the enigma that is Pogba.

At least this is the kind of scenario we thrived on last season. Team under heavy criticism then go to a direct rival and get a result. Fully expect us to beat Spurs now.

This is a game for the likes of Smalling, Jones, Matic and Herrera. They may not be the best ability wise but they will at least leave everything on the pitch.

    I'd go with.

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Matic
    Fellaini Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez

We need players that we know will work for the side

Mourinho needs to go back to his beloved 4231.

If we're going to sit back and defend, then we need to dfeend with two banks of four and hit teams on the counter.

Not going to happen, but I'd go with:

    Lukaku
    Rashford Sanchez Lingard
    Matic Pogba
    Shaw Lindelof Smalling Valencia
    De Gea

    EDIT
Or go to the good old 442 (4222)

    Sanchez Lukaku
    Pogba Matic Fred Lingard
    Shaw Lindelof Smalling Valencia
    De Gea

Pretty sure we are going to win this one... then get battered by Burnley the following week. Can see it a mile off.

Park the bus. feck beautiful football we need to start winning. Smalling a must. Fellaini a must.
Ah so we lost today because we tried to play beautiful football or something? Heres a hint: the reason we are so shite is because of the tactics Mourinho loves to use.

I’m pissed Brighton did you guys up like that.

This is going to be a classic 1-0 or 2-1 Mourinho result for you lot.

It’s also probably going to be horrendous to watch.

Will Matic, Sanchez, Smalling and Valencia be available for this?

We'll lose to 'small' clubs Brighton but will beat 'big' teams like Spurs.

I expect Smalling back for this and to continue his tradition of keeping Kane in his pocket.

Our midfield is going to have to do a better fecking job at winning the ball back. Between Pogba, Fred, Perreira, Lingard and Fellaini they won 2 tackles against Brighton with 2 interceptions. That is appalling.

Tottenham have had a very good start to the season so will be on a high going into this game. I don't think they'll embarrass us, but they'll dominate possession and cause us lots of problems, we'll have to hit on the break and hope our attackers are on it.

Ive seen enough of Kane vs Jones for one lifetime.

I expect a big reaction from the players and for the team to be well up for this match. And to expect and hopefully deal with Spurs fast high intensity press, the midfield needs to be a lot more combative vs Dembele/Dier. None of this not wanting to put a foot in and get physical we saw at Brighton, 2 tackles and 2 interceptions from three midfielders vs Brighton, jfc that is terrible.

Think something like that or Fellaini might start

Our CB's played like they were in a three legged race - Joses answer will be really simple - drop Shaw.

3 games in and this is our first 6 pointer. If you're a Spurs player Monday night wont be coming soon enough. They, along with the rest of the country, must have pissed themselves laughing at what we served up yesterday.

We need to get 24 from 30. This has to be the start of a run of form. No evidence yesterday to think it will be.

I can only see this going one way: and it could be as bad as 3-0 to Spurs. If we go behind we will certainly lose because we seem to have lost our spine. Feeble capitulation on Sunday to a side who wil get thumped by the top teams

Jones and Smalling should come back in and Matic has to play. Mata has to be dropped also, with Lingard coming in.

Can we just start with Lukaku and Fellaini up top from the get go? Hoofing it to them is all we know how to do so let's just try and build around it.
I'm resigned to the fact that when trailing in a game with 30 mins or less to go, this will be the sole tactic. It's why I didn't want Fellaini to stay.
