We’ll lose this and the pressure on Jose and the team will be immense.

Think we will lose this and the Burnley game and Jose may get sacked/implode.

If we lose this, Mourinho is in trouble. Matic, Smalling, Lingard, and possibly Valencia, back for this one.

I’ve never ever been in that group of people that want to see United lose so that the manager will get sacked/be put under pressure to leave - but if we win this the pressure will be right off Mourinho and the backwards cnut will stay for the season. If Zidane is truly interested we need to get him in as soon as possible.

We all know Mourinho is an excellent manager, but he’s without a doubt lost his edge. He’s the most predictable manager in the league, he plays boring defensive shite, he belittles his players and fails to motivate the side when we’re down. I just can’t see any reason for him to carry on.

We'll probably win, because we generally win at OT.

It won't be good or pretty I imagine though.

Do you not remember LVG's run from October-Jan of his last season? Things can get a lot worse than the current state of affairs that's for sure. Jose will keep us in the top 4 battle at the least and Zidane would still be an almighty gamble.

Yep, that’s the period I’m referring to - tonnes of people on here were hoping United actually lose to put* LVG under immense pressure. It doesn’t solve anything. We need to win but also realise what we have isn’t good enough. If the board were half decent at their jobs they’d see this.

And I’m not sure we’ll get top 4 this season with Mourinho. City, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool are all ahead of us - some considerably. Everton look pretty good, and Arsenal have a new manager (although still pretty shit).

I agree it's not good enough, yesterday was incredible frustrating and felt worryingly familiar to other sub-par performances away from home against teams we 'should' be beating. We have no Identity at the moment, it certainly doesn't help that the team is all at different stages in terms of fitness etc, with some yet to come back. We are probably a couple of weeks behind where we should be.

Look at Spurs, they had players in the latter stages of the WC but their whole squad is together, the team picks itself and the WC players are starting and contributing well. We are behind them at this point and I'd be very surprised if we get anything against them for that reason. Why are they seemingly so settled? This sums us up, we are a mess and will now chop and change for half of the season.

Reaction time. If we don't have won and win. I think Jose is toast. I think we'll win as he's the best in must win games.

We look so shaky defensively so I don’t understand why we’re so intent on sitting back. Hope we go for it

Guaranteed there will be people who will secretly want United to lose just so Mourinho will be a game closer to a sacking.

Unfortunately, I do think we'll lose this. Spurs will know we are there for the taking at the moment - our momentum is zilch.

Kane, Alli, Lucas and Eriksen will have a field day against our defence.

You don't think we'll lose but Spurs' attack will have a field day against us?

Can see this being cagey. Wouldn't totally surprise me if both teams saw the benefits of a draw here. Unless there are early goals, this one may peter out.

I'll go 0-0, or 1-0 Utd. Am I right in thinking we've won this game 1-0 the last 3 seasons?

    Anyone but Rashford
XI deserves purging after that performance. I'd like to see us persist but there's such a lack of unfamiliarity to the team we've been playing and it shows. Honestly Spurs will rip us apart playing like we did yesterday. They looked like they've never played together.

I expect Mourinho to revert to the tried and trusted (lol) vs Spurs and for him to match their formation.

God I wish it was Liverpool at home. The idea of beating them in this state and the camera panning to Souness and Redknapp. I'd swap a years salary for that.

Well i saved the season a couple of years ago, i d lmake a humble request to let someone else make the matchday threads from now on. We can trial a few people and have the one with best winning streak to do the job. @Niall

I’ve got the fear about this one after Sunday’s game, I’ll be watching it through a haze of alcohol that’s for sure, it’s getting to be the only way I can these days.

I just mentioned this in Fellaini thread, but i genuinely think we should do this. Play what is effective for us and gives us higher chance of winning the game.
Definitely. It's a shame after all these years and money spent it's the only thing we look consistently good at, but so be it.
I'm resigned to the fact that when trailing in a game with 30 mins or less to go, this will be the sole tactic. It's why I didn't want Fellaini to stay.
To be honest, it's why I wanted Fellaini to stay. I knew we'd be in for more awful football with José staying so it's best we keep Fellaini because hoofing to him (and Lukaku even though Lukaku would prefer the ball to feet for the most part) is the only thing under José we've shown to be decent at.

I think we'll win here, though. As most have said in this thread, this was stuff we thrived on last year - going into a big game in bad form/heavy criticism and winning. Plus we're at Old Trafford.

I just hope - if we do start Fellaini - it's as a #10/up top instead of as a DM because, for whatever reason, Fellaini usually plays as one when starting even though he's rubbish there.

I think if we win it will be good. Don't think we're good enough right now to find a way to win if we don't put in a decent performance. Spurs are pretty good so we sort of have to play well to beat them i think. If we don't, then I'm afraid we will have a very bad start to the season on our hands.

Hope Smalling is back, he usually deals with Kane. I imagine we might play 3 at the back for this one, if Spurs still do?

All I ask is that we go for it. Take the game to them. If we lose then so be it but let's try to attack them

    Young - Smalling - Lindelof - Shaw
    Matic (hopefully)
    Pogba - Fred
    Lingard - Lukaku - Sanchez

Martial and Rashford not to feature imo. Mata, Fellaini and some other safe sub like McTominay to come on.

    1-1.

Exactly what I've gone for. There's a chance he'll start Fellaini over Fred IMO, but opted with the Brazilian.

I think we will get battered by Tottenham, but manage to hold on for a 2-0 loss. Mourino will not criticise his players, 'don't have the right attitude' Pogba will be enacting scenes from Dragon ball Z with Big rom and small Sanchez, and we will be raging here at Redcafe. Just another day at the office.

Atleast old man Rooney is lighting up the MLS.

Whatever the result is, it'll hardly change anything in the long run and simply postpone the inevitable. But I always want United to win - no matter the circumstances.

If Spurs turn up and Poch gets his tactics right we're going to seriously struggle.
Eriksen, Kane, Alli and Trippier will have a field day against us if we play like we did against Brighton.

    Lads, I'm worried.

Feel we can win this, just need to get on the front foot early, and nab a goal really.

We are at home, and did well generally against the top 6 last season.
