Do you not remember LVG's run from October-Jan of his last season? Things can get a lot worse than the current state of affairs that's for sure. Jose will keep us in the top 4 battle at the least and Zidane would still be an almighty gamble.
Different context. Mourinho won’t be given the same leeway LVG had through that period. Pogbagate and Jose’s unsubtle public moans will escalate any potential sacking. The momentum is building. If we take a couple of losses against Spurs and Burnley before the international break and we have more potshots from the likes of Raiola and the Fledglings then I can see Mourinho being fired. What a fiasco.

Poch's away record against top 6 remains garbage and we basically never lose at home in the league. 1-0 win or a 1-1 draw.

We usually bring down Spurs to our level by slowing their game down and making their forwards invisible. Then we score a freak goal, after which the game descends into a stupor until the last 20 minutes when Spurs put some pressure on us, Eriksen creates a dangerous chance and one of their forwards hits the post. 1-0 FT.

Reckon a similar game this time. Could be 1-1 or 0-0 as well, but 1-0 is what I am hoping for obviously.

Nobody who doesn't want to play for Man Utd should be in the squad for this game. Leave them out. They can watch it from the stands or from home or from wherever the hell they want to watch it.

We could just ask the women's team to play instead then.

We could be 6 points off the top by the time this game kicks off. Tells you everything that nobody is interested in the points because we are all resigned to the fact we aren't challenging for the PL. I doubt that's ever happened before.

I think Spurs will get at least a point from this game, and even a draw would be an improvement on our poor record at OT.

Morale looks low in your camp, what with both Martial and Pogba angling for a move and Mourinho throwing players under the bus.

Meanwhile Spurs have made a good start to the season. Toby has it seems been reinserted back into the first XI, Lucas Moura is looking good in Son's absence and Kane has finally broken his August duck.

I don't even care for the result. I just want a good solid performance....hopefully we can edge them. Lingard needs to start and I would argue Fellaini too if we haven't got our starters back. He looked lively when he came on against Brighton. Am I going mad suggesting Fellaini in a more advance role? I mean we sure as heck can't pass the ball out like City, Liverpool.

I am! until we're 10+point behind with only a few games to go you have to look how far you are from the top. At this stage though we should probably just focus on putting a run of wins together, cant remember the last time we went on say a 10 game win streak. City do it at the start of every season.

What’s the latest on Sanchez and Matic? Any of them fit?

Lads, it’s Tottenham. We’ll smash these cnuts at OT.

I wish I had your positivity but once you start falling behind a team who don't drop points that's it. City didn't lose until January last season.

If you can't believe at the start of the season, whats the point in following it at all. We've a lot of room for improvement but we are still half a squad and things will pick up.

We have to remain in contention over the next few weeks though because as you say 6/9+ pts behind strong rivals becomes an uphill battle.

If I remember correctly, we had a very similar entry to this game last season. A dismal draw away to Liverpool (ok, good result - but people were angry) before losing 2-1 to Huddersfield away. Then we played smart and won 1-0 against Spurs thanks to a Martial-goal. I assume Matic and Smalling will be back for this game, which will stabilize our team a whole lot. We will not be hammered against Spurs, they aren't good enough to do that and we play at Old Trafford after all.

Last season the game was even and could have gone both ways. This season Spurs are likely to dominate the game, unless we are much better than against Leicester and Brighton.

Exactly, will already be 6 points behind Pool, City and likely Chelsea too, with the pressure on. we cannot afford to lose this.
We are in a battle with Spurs and Chelsea for top four, so losing on Monday wouldn’t mean much. It’s nice to get ahead of course, especially as Spurs play Liverpool shortly. I don’t care about us vs City, we are never going to compete with them anyway.

Knowing what we’re like we’ll probably win 1-0 in a real stop start match.

I reckon only one of us and Spurs will finish in the top four this season, so I have this down as a pretty big game. Must avoid defeat here.

With Matic back, Pogba can go back to the world cup form and Fred can do the box-to-box thing again, creating a perfectly balanced midfield.
Shaw is in great form as we've seen last match and with Smalling back we have a good back 4.

    We win this 2-1

I think the tides turning against mourinho, I can see the crowd groaning and screaming to attack if we just keep playing joseball. I know we should be happy with a 1-0. But I don’t think that’s going to be enough to satisfy the fans.

Things like this annoy me really. Multiple times second half, Lingard, Young and Rashford were in decent positions with options through the middle and not once did they get the ball into a decent area or pick a player out. Rashford actually attempted to cross the ball into the box and managed to hit his standing leg. Then we lose the ball and you've got to drop deep then. You put better players in those positions and you create chances at the very least. People talk about tactics but I just don't think the players are good enough, or consistent enough certainly, to create those chances and it leads to cringy terms like the one you've used there.

In terms of the Tottenham game, I don't think the break does us any favours but it's a must win for me. I don't know what his team will be, he's got a decion to make with regards to does he pick a team that he wants to develop long term or does he pick a team and pick players that he trusts with it being Tottenham and with the pressure being what it is at the minute.

Forget long term this is Jose and the pressure is on. If he plays youth not one fan will defend a loss. Forget youth anyway don't see any other top team doing that like us. We need to stop this nonsense because 20 years ago (half our team if that) was young and won things. Ironically since that team we ourselves proved you don't win much with youth......

I don't necessarily mean youth, I'm more thinking along the lines of does he throw Smalling/Jones back in there, does he bring Fellaini in etc or does he give Bailly and Victor time.

Think we will lose at home to Spurs. Got zero confidence. Didn't have much before the season started and now the little I had has waned.

Take them both out or Bailly at least! Matic back in, hopefully Valencia and Sanchez. Maybe Herrera.....defo Lingard and maybe Fellaini....:)

Is there enough room for them all!

Is it possible to sell most of our team before this game and field a youth side?

feck whichever clubs voted to close the deadline early.
It’s a great idea, it’s United’s fault for not identifying the obvious issues from last season and buying players earlier.

Feels very weird to be anticipating a game against Tottenham at home where we aren’t huge favourites to win. I know it’s been like that for a good four years now but it still feels strange, we used to batter them year in year out and now they are basically at a similar if not higher level than us.

    Changes:

    Mata > Sanchez/Rashford
    Bailly > Smalling
Pereira > Matic if he's fit

We need to keep the semblance of a consistent XI in place and try to build an identity.
