I think this will be a tough test for the team. The way Pulis sets his teams up naturally is kryptonite for UTD at the moment.

We need to continue our adventurous play from CSKA if we hope to break down their defensive setup.

Play Blind at CB, Young at RB with license to get forward, Carrick in the centre and hopefully he continues with his incisive passing and of course Martial up top.

In any case this result will not come down to the team we select, but the amount of adventure the team displays.

    0-0 or 1-0

    I expect another clean sheet.
The key is how early we score. It's the kind of game that if we don't score in the first half, we probably won't score.

    Stop wasting Young at fullback!

Play him as a left winger and we will score a few goals every game.

An early goal will be key. They'll sit back and just settle for the draw with the odd counter attack. We score early and they are forced to open up.

    De Gea

    Young
    Smalling
    Blind
    Rojo

    Carrick
    Herrera

    Lingard
    Rooney
    Mata

    Martial

Oh is Schneiderlin back for this?

Yeah, this will be similar to the CSKA match where we have to open them up. WBA either concede none or 3

Absolutely vital to get back on track in the league. We're at home against a shit opponent, we should be full-on attack from the whistle.

    -------------------Rooney--------------------
    Martial--------------------------------Lingard
    ------------------------------------------------
    -------------------Herrera---------------------
    ------------------------------------------------
    ----------Ze German------Morgan------------
    -------------------------------------------------
    Rojo--------------------------------------Young
    ---------------Jones----Mike-------------------
    -------------------------------------------------
    -------------------De Gea----------------------

After Tuesday I think Lingard and Rojo deserve to keep their place

Right. I predicted 4-0 actually. And West Brom are quite well organised defensively.

    I'd go along with this.
Scoring 1 goal yesterday, doesn't change the fact that we struggle to score a goal, despite dominating possession...which we will do again, on Saturday.

Now, if we can win 4-0 as some are predicting - I'll be ecstatic.

The return of Evanbauer and Fletchinho! Despite the goal, I'd probably look to give Rooney a break for this one.

    Martial
    Young Herrera Lingard
    Basti Morgan
    Rojo Blind Mike Darmian

I'd rather see Memphis get the start on this one and Young at RB.

This hasn't happened ever before and we've played on the left many times tk be fair.

Play Young and you have the safe option.

bring back Jones and Darmian please - I'd like to see Memphis and Pereira get some game time too

Blind on the left will provide much better quality and he was impressive there last season - his passing was very good last night so you'd be tempted to leave him at CB but I prefer a stronger CB with Herrera in midfield

Yeah but LVG won't drop Rooney :(
The team below Rooney is in it as well.

I'd expect the same side with Schneiderlin in for one of the two midfielders. Mata to be hooked if Valencia is fit enough to play RB, which would allow Young to play on the wing.

Assuming Rooney is playing and Darmian is suspended, for me it has to be:
    ------------Rooney-----------
    Martial----------------Lingard
    -----------Herrera-----------
    Schweinschneiderleinsteiger
    Rojo---Jones--Mike---Young

I don't think we need two defensive minded midfielders for this match. Would rather see Herrera alongside Schneiderlin in CM, with 4 attack minded players in front of them. I think this would give us a better chance of breaking them down, given that they'll likely defend with 10 men behind the ball.

I don't think we do either, just what I expect Van Gaal to do pretty much. If it was up to me it would be something like what you say.

Sorry, my fault for misunderstanding. It's sometimes hard to know with the line-ups if people are saying what they think will happen or what they think should happen. As a prediction for what will happen, yours looks about right, though I wouldn't be surprised to see young on the left, martial in the middle, rooney in behind and herrera on the bench.

That's what I'd like. Probably we'll get something similar but with Rooney in for Herrera. I can't see any other option than Young at RB if Valencia and Darmian are both unavailable. By all accounts he was useful there against the defensive CSKA and we can expect the same again from Pulis so it's no real tragedy.

I hope Valencia is fit for this game, dare i say we need his attacking abilitys against West Brom.

    I would go with:

    DdG
    Anton Mike Blind Rojo
    Herrera Carrick
    Jesse Rooney Young
    Martial
Would think West Brom will come to park the bus, so as many players who wants to drive forward with the ball as possible on the pitch and the passing/vision of Carrick and Blind from Deep positions. I think LvG may put Morgan in there instead of Herrera though.

Pace, width, passing from the midfield. A 2-0 would be nice.

Two teams that seem to hate conceding almost as much as the hate scoring! 0-0 written all over it. Hopefully one of our players can produce a piece of individual skill to win it 1-0
