Going to predict a solid more focused performance after last weeks freak loss, 3-1.
After West hams win over pool I do see them scoring one possibly two.
Valencia was kept relatively quiet by a decent defender - Manquillo. He has the potential to cause real trouble. As does Sakho against an overweight Shaw.

This game could feasibly finish with the same scoreline as Leicester, and with the same result.
Must have done a sterling job for the 21 minutes that he was on the pitch... Wonder why he was taken off...

Why is the Match Day predictions closed? I thought it would close two hours before the match? There's still four hours to go.
I have just submitted my score prediction but I can't submit my line up. It says it closes three-hours before kick off but it's only 11.17am.

That can still happen isn't it? Mata has essentially been playing as a false 9, by getting into the opposition's box as much as possible. So, Rooney can drop deeper when needed to be & Mata can switch with him.

There should not be any doubt that Mata is a better playmaker than Rooney, it's the defensive protection Rooney offers more than him is what's causing the debate. If Mata & Rooney can master that "Switch with each when needed" role, it would be difficult for the opposition to deal with them, because they would have Falcao & Di Maria to worry about too
I think he would be better suited permanently deeper, he only drops anyway these days. We have two better forward options than Rooney and a better no 10. It's just where do you put him if not in the hole ?
Answers on a postcard please.

What we are missing is leaders. I think Herrera could be a future captain for us but he is still settling in. At the back Jones is the obvious choice but he can't stay fit. We need a dog at the back who leads by example, a Vidic if you will. Anyway regarding the game today, RVP needs to be dropped and Mata needs to start. The link up of the spine of our team against QPR was missing against Leicester and that's because Rooney isn't as good as Mata as a 10 and RVP is off the pace up front. Rooney and Falcao up front with Mata behind is the way forward.

Looking forward to see Shaw make his debut today. If we could sort out our center half pairing, having Shaw and Rafael at full back, would look a very exciting defence.

So,we are expecting another 2 debuts on sunday and that too in defense. Both 19 years old,if Mcnair plays. That means we will have the youngest backfour in PL.
From Vida-Rio-Evra to Mcnair/Thorpe-Rojo-Shaw in less than 6 months.Wow!!!
Feeling anxious as always.
Who we playing Sunday?

@Niall is the deadline for lineup submission moved to 6 hours prior to game? Didn't get any notice as such about it :( Guess same is case with few others. Possible to move it to 2 hours for today and then through a common message declare it being changed to 6 hours from next weekend?
Woops, my mistake, it's back to 2 hours now so predict away!

let's fu**ing win this! We need confidence and momentum now more than anything, injuries are not helping but we should have enough to see it through. Shaw to make his debut and Rojo at CB alongside Thorpe.. RVP to be dropped for Mata, everyone else stays. Let's save RVP to come off the bench(if need be) instead of starting him and having him huffing and puffing by the 60th minute! Falcao and Rooney up top in 4-1-2-1-2. I am sure LVG gave the players the hairdryer after the leicester result, hopefully it works and makes the players pull their fingers out their arses. As always , a good performance is necessary but today i purely care about the result. i will take a 1-0 if that is what comes our way! we have dropped silly points , we cannot afford to drop more especially considering that a minimum 2 of 4(Liverpool,Everton,Arsenal,Spurs) will be dropping points this weekend.
Expecting another blinder from Di Maria but Mata will be our main man today!!
i believe!
Come on United!

I've set the lineup prediction closing time to 2pm to give people more time to get their predictions in.

With this being a 3pm kick off and most none UTD fans won't be watching, we will probably wipe the floor with them, typical from us.

Dont know much about Thorpe nor McNair but throwing one of them into fire like this could be catastrophic. I guess we dont have a choice though.. Maybe start with Fletcher at CB?

And Fletcher could be catastrophic as well. He was horrible in the first match at midfield, why won't he be even worse at CB? Blackett hasn't been catastrophic and he has been outshone at youth level and on loan at Birmingham by Tom Thorpe. I don't understand how playing Fletcher at CB could possibly be a safer option.

Let's make sure we point out.

From Old and beaten up Vida-Old and slow Rio- Too old to get back Evra to Mcnair/Thorpe-Rojo-Shaw in less than 6 months

Fletcher or Blind in defense would be a safer option, surely?
Blind maybe, Fletcher .... hell no. Even at 19 these kids know their position. You don't just stick people in positions they have no idea how to play because you want to. They will fail. Better to give youth that understands that particular position a chance.

Safer option in the sense this will be a debut for Thorpe or McNair in a very serious situation where we need a win by all means.

I am up for chalking up the season if we are going for this kind of experimenting. Blackett minus 20 minutes has been immense, wold be nice to see another great find. We can start removing some players if one of these kids steps up.

He wasnt immense but he was very good.
Its a risky but I guess you're right, better to play an actual CB at CB and see what happens.

off to watching my other team Wycombe, one of those super rare times that both have a home game kick off at the same time but will have the phone out for updates.

We need to score the first goal or everyone will start fretting!
