Do they have a league cup game?

Really not looking forward to Song and Noble running rampant in the middle of the pitch
They're out. Penalties against Shef Wednesday.

Optimistic about that. If Clattenburg's the ref, they might actually miss one of the 4 pens they'll get.

Anticipation mixed with trepidation sure beats the feeling of hopelessness that accompanied most games last season.

I watched West Ham against Hull and Liverpool, in Enner Valencia and Sakho they have two big, physical and quick forwards that will cause us a lot of problems IMO.

West Ham played some good stuff vs Liverpool, not the usual long ball shit by Allardyce as they have many players who are good on the ball.

It will be my first match at Old Trafford so i'm hoping we destroy west ham! Can't wait

    DDG
Rafael Jones (if fit) Rojo Shaw
    -----------Blind-------------
    -----Herrera ---- Carrick
    Di Maria --- ------ --- Januzaj
    -----------Falcao ------------

It implies Carrick is fit... Unlikely but i have always prefered a 4-3-3
I know this means that we have to drop RvP and Mata, but so be it. We need more shielding of the defense. Hard choices need to be made, we need to get a winning streak now

Think a 'post city 6-1' approach is in order. Tighten up and go from there. We looked so open in the last half hour yesterday chasing the game.

We are favourites but we were that vs Leicester and look what happened..
Dont know what to thin. Quick goal and tight up the defense and the middle, vs Leicester we were open like suisse cheese.

    ----------------DDG

    Rafae--Smalling (Jones ?)--Rojo--Shaw

    ----------------Blind

    ---------Herrera-----Di Maria

So now we've failed miserably with the diamond in a singular game, does that mean we are going to move on to the next formation and condemn the diamond like we did with 3 at the back? :)

I think that's the only line-up we should be playing on Saturday. RvP to come off the bench. If we can establish a lead, hopefully we can bring Fletcher on and he'll have gotten over his poor streak to help us see games out more effectively.

We can play 3-5-2 again now that we have only 3 or 4 proper defenders fit :P

I think the players are enjoying playing the attacking slick passing game but when we are leading by a goal or two we need to be just a little conservative in our approach, change tempo, less risky passing, positional discipline, one of the top 3 strikers needs to come back defending. We cant afford to defend with only 8 players. I think even with the defence that we have these slight changes will go a long way in stabilizing our defensive frailties I know we always want our players to attack attack attack but with the team we have and the way we are playing we will score plentiful even with a little patient approach now and again in a 90 minute long game. LVG has got our team playing his way attacking play in not more than a couple of months ,I just think he and the new players just underestimated the lower ranked PL teams. In his pre match he said Leicester will play the same way as Burnley,Sunderland lots of long balls but I think leicester and many other weaker teams this season are mixing their play and no more playing a fixed pattern.Even westham next week will test our back 4 not just with long balls but with a lot of direct fast counter attacks, winning a lot of 1st and 2nd balls.

I think that looks a really good line up. I miss our width :( Won't happen tho.

Sadly, we can't field 12 players.

I hope the players don't go deep and feel dissapointed and earn self-confident, they have to realize that they are manchester united players other opponents are always scared from us. GGMU!
We'll be able to manage the defence as van gaal said. And yeah about RVP he can't play 90mins Van gaal should accept that and not commit him to do over-effort it'd reflect upon his physical ability he is old now.
*De gea should contribute himself otherwsie he'll loose his overall brilliance.

Allardyce will be sitting smiling at the thought of Sakho/Valencia/Kouyate running at our defence. :nervous:

Glad Blackett is banned, the lads not ready. Rojo needs to be tried for a few games with Jones as Smalling and Evans are shit. RVP isn't on his top game and Rooney won't be dropped so start Falcao. Mata is much better than Rooney in the whole. Our defence needs to communicate better and stop leaving so much space behind the full backs. Hopefully we can get some form going until Jan and buy a better defender with some experience.

Unfortunately I don't think we have the players for it. It's all or nothing at this stage for us and given West Ham's game against Liverpool I fear it might be the latter...

I'm not looking forward to it greatly in all honesty.

Yesterday just drained me so badly.

It's poor excuse but the penalty did look to have a big impact. Still I manage we are going to be crap at defending so tighten up properly isn't possibly. So I think we all have to out score West Ham and hang on for the last 15 .

As long as we get the first goal we will be fine.

    My team would be

    ------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------
    --Rafael-------------Smalling-------Rojo------------Shaw-----
    ------------------------------Fellaini------------------------------
    -----------------Herrera--------------------Di Maria----------------
    -------------------------------Mata----------------------------------
    ------------------Rvp/Rooney--------Falcao---------------------------

There is about 6/7 players 6ft or over in that team, we might not get bullied for once.

I can't wait for this match! A destruction is in order and I can see it happening. We won't fall apart at the back like we did against leicester.

4-1, di Maria, Falcao (2), Rooney

We're on a steep learning curve and I doubt we'll be seeing Leicester type capitulations again. We got ahead of ourselves and allied with shoddy reffing paid the price. Not happening again against West Ham.

That doesn't make sense. Fellaini has always been terrible at the DM position whenever we've played him there, not to mention the fact that he's still injured.
Someone told me he's back lool, He might not be a dm but he can play there, we don't have a static midfield anymore, he will have herrera and di maria next to him, it can work imo.

With DDG and the defenders we have we can say bye bye to clean sheets hope we can out score them and LVG needs to put things right before it's too late.

Honestly if Liverpool can't beat them, not holding out any hope we can. West Ham will come in knowing all they have to do is apply pressure and we will crack. So for the old timers who remember it, what was it like not even being in the top flight in England? They way things are going we are going to find out soon.

Werid as it may be, i am actually feeling confident about this game. I am sure LVG will not accept such an inept defenisive performance again, and we have looked sharp in attack the last two games.

RVP needs to be benched until he finds his form. Play Rooney and Falcao up front with Mata in the hole :)

Another freakin' false dawn?? This is too much haha.

Need a reaction here, it was unacceptable to capitulate the way we did against Leicester, with all the money spent and talent available. This is a different game of course, at home against a team who aren't as in form, but you can't win matches if you can't defend, or keep your heads after some bum decisions by an incompetent ref. Evans, Smalling and Jones were never going to replace Rio and Vidic in their prime, but they still need to form some sort of decent partnership, if injuries prevent it, then someone else, Rojo? Make it happen LVG, because SAF knew how to control a game, and so should you. Welcome to the Premier League, Louis.

Hopefully we'll still score lots of goals but we're now in a position where we are not safe even if we are 4 or 5 nil up. Exciting or worrying? With only 5 points on the board, and top four being a must, sadly it's the latter for me.

Heaven didn't send us LVG, they sent us Di Maria, the guy is absolute joy to watch, worth the price of admission alone. Just hope he can get fit enough to last the full ninety.
