Enner Valencia destroyed the league here. He's unbelievably quick on the counter, I'm actually pretty scared... we need to watch out for this guy, we really do. He can tear us a bigger one than Leicester, I'll tell you that.

Can we get Jim Ross to do commentary on this match?

It will be utter carnage....A slobberknocker if you will.

Big Sham will break his goals record in this...We'll have to judging from our defence

Would like to see us go 433/4231 in this game to provide the defense more protection. In the current diamond, the midfield gets exposed as Di Maria plays mainly as a left sided sided winger. Poor Blind had to run around in the last game trying to cover for both Di Maria and Herrera.

    De Gea
    Valencia McNair/Thrope Rojo Shaw
    Blind Fletcher
    Rooney Herrera Di Maria
    Falcao
Valencia for Rafael; as he is stronger, a better header and can provide that extra body in the midifield when needed. Blind and Fletcher to sit back and provide that extra protection to the defense. West Ham will score a lot of goals if they get a free pass to run to our defense. Herrera as a 10 to to assist in both midfield and attack. Rest are self explanatory.

I feel we will concede goals and lose/draw if the diamond is used in it's current avatar. If it is the diamond, then I would line up:

    De Gea
    Valencia McNair/Thorpe Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Fletcher Herrera
    Rooney
    Falcao Di Maria
The central midfield has to help out the defense in this game.

Can also see 352 being used.

    De Gea
    McNair/Thorpe Fletcher Rojo
    Valencia Herrera Rooney Shaw
    Mata
    Di Maria Falcao
Going Dutch with the formation, and using Di Maria in the Robben role.

I will be amazed if we manage to keep a clean sheet here, Think the physical presence of West Ham will pay off for them at some point against us as we have no physical presence at all right now.

I'm going to say a 2-2 draw although I hope i'm very wrong

We do have one big advantage - several Hammers-players took knocks in that Liverpool-game so there will probably be 2-3 of their players out injured too.

I would actually like to see a 3-5-2 in this one.

De Gea - Shaw, Rojo, Rafael - Blind, Carrick, Di Maria, Herrera, Valencia - Rooney and Falcao

That should give our defense enough cover to cope with Hammers

I dreamt last night that we were winning 4-1.Then in the 34th minute,Rio Ferdinand(yes I know),passed back it back to De Gea,and thats when a west ham player intercepted the pass and scored,it was 4-2 at half time :nervous:

I just hope we keep a clean sheet and win.

What I think the team will be :
    ------------DDG
    Rafael-McNair-Rojo-Shaw
    ------------Blind
    -----Herrera----Di Maria
    ------------Rooney
    -------Falcao-----RVP

just a quick one for all the negative posters on here.

    It's West Ham. At Home.

We have Falcao, VP, Rooney, Mata, Di Maria etc.
Each week they'll build up a bit more knowledge of each other's games, and Falcao and Di Maria will get more used to the Premier league.

We've had 2 games under this new quality playing cast, and scored 7!

It's not quite doom and gloom just yet.

    I think we will play:

    ------------------De Gea--------------------
    Rafael------Blind--------Rojo---------Shaw
    ------Herrera---Fletcher----Di Maria-------
    ------Rooney-----RVP-----Falcao-----------

though I would hope for a recall for Mata.

    Paul Merson predicts the following:

This game all depends on how Sam Allardyce approaches it. If West Ham go to Old Trafford and have a go at them, like they did at home to Liverpool, then they will cause absolutely loads of problems because Man United are terrible at the back. If they go there, sit back and try to defend then they will fizzle out and lose, so surely you have to go there and go for them? I hope they do that because they’ll give them a right game. It could go one way or another and that’s why I’m making two predictions for this game!

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-2 (if Allardyce goes for it) or 2-0 (if he doesn’t).

Can't understand why would anyone have Blind as one of the two central defenders with Rojo. We would be shred to pieces if that happens. The only place he can play in defense is as a left-sided CB in a three man defense, and that too in most desperate situation.

No chance. He ran riot all game, and if it wasn't for him attempting to shoot at every opportunity instead of opting for wise passes, could've made the score even worse than it was. The bitterness is seaping through your post, mate. Come on.
I must have come across wrong. Valencia was very good and constantly had us biting our nails. Manquillo did as best he could. Against lesser fullbacks Valencia will score at least one, if not more.

We still have 3 out of four first choice defenders and with a week to introspect I don't see why we can't shut out West Ham @ home.

If either one of Thorpe or McNair play then it'll be vital to provide enough protection . Blind and Herrera as a partnership will have big role to play in that. Herrera has been far too gung ho in his approach and I hope LVG pointed that out to him and tells him to bring his tenacity into play a little more from deeper in the midfield , he'll be key to winning the ball back quickly and moving it forward to the more creative players to quickly and not allowing West ham to press us.

Falcao must play too because he has the ability to score out of nothing and that might just be key come Saturday.

Manquillo got absolutely bullied. Thankfully our attack is miles better than yours so it might see us through. Thank so much for the concern.

after the Clattenburg debacle, got a feeling we will have a penalty ourselves this match. I find it hard to believe that we won't get more benefit of a doubt after last match.

Not playing the victim card or feeling sorry for us but I really get the impression that referees are enjoying the 'freedom' to make calls against us. They love not having Fergie around, they all walk out 10 foot tall when refereeing our matches now and it seems they really take pleasure in looking man enough to make a call against us.

Maybe that's being a little paranoid but I know a lot who get the same feeling. Again, it's not a fact or a thing, it's just the impression I get.

So in short, don't expect a penalty for us.

You sound like the ABU squad now, Fergie "influenced" the refs, they were "scared" of us, and all this BS.

The Leicester one, and perhaps the Sturridge 3rd one for Liverpool last year are the only 2 pens against us that i can remember as being unjust.
And even the Sturridge one was a tough call from the angle.

Refs are human, and i'm sure most of us were thinking "Rafael" don't do something stupid, and although he didn't, it's not unreasonable for the ref at that speed to have thought he had done.

Clearly, the barge/hand off that came before was a shocking decision, but Clattenburg has made plenty for and against other teams....

I just said it's the impression, not what actually happens.

You just have to see the body language of a few of the refs, chest puffed out when they make a call against us, they know it's going to be talked about and want to be seen as not afraid to make a call against United which those same referees were criticised of in previous seasons.

I don't think Van Gaal is exactly a pansy. He'll stick it to any ref who is out of line.

Agreed but it was just the whole perception and story line that went along with a penalty decision involving United. Something that grew over 15-20 years.

Over last two seasons every time we had a positive game, we had a setback straight after that and vice versa. Always when I thought, now it can't go worse it got worse. The only hope from the weekend is, that fecking Clattenberg is to blame to a big extend for what happened. Our non-existing self-belief led to the rest. The latter can be restored.

We must get a win but again injuries cause concerns if we can compete with a mid-table club (at best) at home. We must fix our defense till next season. I will definately not live through another season like this or the last. I'd surely die by heart-attack.

The Mexican league isn't really on par with the EPL now. Yes, Valencia is quick but he's pretty bang average everywhere else.

McNair and Thorpe step up for van Gaal
Paddy McNair and Tom Thorpe will be in the Manchester United squad for the visit of West Ham on Saturday.

Louis van Gaal has exclusively revealed to MUTV that the Under-21 defenders will be drafted into his plans due to a lengthening injury list that includes centre-backs Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans. With Tyler Blackett also suspended, Marcos Rojo is expected to switch into the middle but he could be paired with reserve-team captain Thorpe or his Northern Irish colleague McNair.

When asked about the young duo by MUTV's Stewart Gardner, the boss replied: "They are in the squad. That is always why we have a youth education. It was also our policy [to utilise the youth squads] and always the policy of the club too."

The manager also explained why midfielder Daley Blind will not be an option to play in the centre of defence.

"I don't like having too many left-sided defenders or left-footed players in defence," he toldMUTV. "I think always of balance so [instead] I have to pick up a right-sided central defender from the youth education. Normally, I am always doing things like that. I have already said that we have a lot of vacancies when you buy only six players and let 14 players go.

"The amount of injuries is worrying me and they are not coming back," he added. "Smalling is already, for the third time, injured. Evans also. Jones had one injury in the national team, which was unfortunate.

"I am a coach who has a lot of experience and I believe I was never in this situation before so it is surprising me. I am evaluating myself and my staff and also the players and what is wrong. But I cannot imagine what we are doing is at another level to [what I did at] my former clubs. So I have already adapted to a certain level that I think we can play during a game but I cannot train at a lower level."

Difficult XI to pick, Blind looks certain to play in midfield and I cant imagine a manager like LVG to play Fletcher at the back regardless of experience.

    ------------ De Gea
    Rafael--McNair---Rojo--Shaw
    --Herrera---Blind---Di Maria
    ------------ Mata
    --------- RVP----Rooney

    for me;
    - Falcao or RVP, my preference is Falcao but he's supposedly the injured unfit one while RVP is fully fit
    - Mata has to play.
    - Back four is best way forward with the amount of injuries we have, a switch to back 3 is damaging enough without mentioning the lack of fully fit centre backs available.

    I think we'll win this 3-1.

We are having bad luck with injuries but the team for tomorrow is all first choice except 1 CB. So there is no excuse for not getting 3 points.

    De Gea

    Rafael -X- Rojo Shaw

    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Rooney/Mata

    Falcao Rooney/RVP
That's our first choice except 1 CB. Yes all the back up players are injured too but we should really do well with 10 first choice players at home against West Ham.

Communication might be an issue with Rojo and CB, Shaw but he can communicate with Rafael and De Gea without any problems. Also I think he would have picked up at least few basic words to communicate.
