Van de Beek is hiding. No influence on the game whatsoever. No wonder Bruno always plays.

We are better than both Spurs and Chelsea, City will be focused on League and CL. So you're essentially saying give up on a cup because we can finish 2nd instead of 3rd? That's insane. FA Cup is an important competition and what our side needs more than anything is a trophy. We aren't giving up on the title but we also aren't going to win it anyway, so there's no need to save players for it. Just go for every trophy we are in. The only competition acceptable to toss aside is the League Cup, or Europa League if you are in serious fights for the League. Likewise FA Cup it is acceptable push it aside if we are in a serious fight for the League and the Champions League. As we arent, it has to take priority.
I’d probably toss aside Europa over the FA but even then let’s put our resources into running the plastic fecks close in the league. It will help us develop a league winning culture for the next few seasons

What's happening with VDB. He has been given an opportunity to take the lead at 10 instead he is hiding behind the players. Just don't take that responsibility at all. Not sure if he its the tactic though but he is playing far up.

VDB only wants to play one-touch passes, mostly directed backwards. He'll never try to take control of the ball and create something, always leaves the responsibility to someone else. Not good enough.

Bit of a nothing game so far.

I don't quite understand what Van de Beek is trying to do or what position he's playing. I can't recall a single time when he picked up the ball in the no. 10 position.

Fred is having way too much of the ball for a start. No idea why he's playing in a role where the play is going through him. He a very limited player, and this position is certainly not playing to his strengths.
Indeed. He's not the link between midfield and attack in such game.

    Thought we've played fine.
Same here. They are defending deep, so it is going to be hard without Bruno and a right side. We have been more inventive than previous games.

I genuinely think Shearer has no interest in watching football, but shows up because it’s an easy payday.

It’s not hiding there’s just no space. We don’t need him deeper as the midfield are controlling the game!

He is doing the right thing it’s just a tough match with 8 men behind the ball.

AWB not letting himself down, Greenwood looking lively, Telles a few good moments the rest have been pretty meh

You have to admire Rashford for his commitment to making wrong decisions. He's relentless.

Feel for Martial tonight. He’s looked good on the ball (albeit a bit conservative at times) and made good runs but we’re just not giving him the ball enough.

Easily Telles’s best game for United so far.

Greenwood has looked bright at times, Rashford has been selfish on occasion.

Really like Fred but he’s having one of those games where he passes like he’s on amphetamines.

Need to put Bruno on for DVB at half time. Might seem harsh but winning is the priority over potentially slightly demoralising on

Surprised to see so much negative feedback on here for Fred. He's the only player who actually looks like they want the ball out there, not his problem if everyone else wants to be a passenger.
My favourite Fred moment was when he hammered a ten yard pass into Telles’ chest on the touch line. Counts as a successful pass for those stats. Like every other pass that a player has to chase back for after it’s played behind them.

He'd be alright with Amad, he likes the one touch passes as well.

    Cavani needed here.
The movement up top is poor so far.
VDB is not quite up to the standard needed so far, understandable considering he's barely played.

We miss Pogba tonight. We only have one player in the squad with top quality in building up and picking passes from deeper. West Ham are well set, and we’re bright in the final third, but I’d really like to see us add someone with real top class ability in the actual middle of the pitch, someone 10 yards behind Bruno.
We paid £40m for VDB who was clearly bought to allow rotation with Pogba/Bruno, but no wonder he hasn't had a sniff this season, he has been bang average when he has been on the pitch.

Just a nothing 45 minutes. Donny looked lost. Fred and Matic are too slow and West Ham have well and truly parked the bus

The fact our defence has looked shaky when they have actually bothered to attack is a bit worrying

Not up to it so far. Might yet turn it around going forward like Fred did, and become decent if no world beater, but he's just anonymous this season.

Martial and Telles have been good. AWB and Greenwood decent. Rahsford and VdB need to step it up

Can’t you just tell this West Ham team are managed by Moyes. Loves to have 11 players behind the ball and hope to get a set play and score by a header from centre back. Think that’s what will happen in this game possibly from a corner.

Fred's been rubbish for weeks. Not good enough for a top team.

VDB needs to get involved. Not working hard enough.

Telles been very good. Greenwood too when we have got the ball to him.

Personally think we will need a change to score.

If it wasn't obvious we will need to sign a midfielder in the summer especially if Pogba goes

I never been so confused about player's position before. VdB is a mystery or coaching is overcomplicating his role. I am totally at lost. Can't figure out what's going on with this lad.

He's a bit lost out there, doesn't seem to know what his job is.

VDB, Martial, Rashford & Greenwood lack of leadership attitude. They are too soft and too nice on the pitch. They are not Bruno, McTominay and Cavani. That Noble incident on VDB, if it was Bruno, he would be screaming at referee putting pressure on the referee.

Hook Fred for Bruno and drop Van de Beek in midfield. He’s got to do so much more with these opportunities.
Where are people getting this idea he can play deeper? His best asset is goalscoring. He isn't a very creative player further up the pitch. What do you think he is going to be like further back?
