This keeps popping up whenever we play Wolves but is just the hangover from when they played ultra defensive football, after Nuno tried to make them more progressive (and got sacked for their subsequent plummet in form) we've had a great record against them in the league. We've taken 15/18 points.

    22/23 - Won Home & Away - 6/6
    21/22 - Lost Home & Won Away - 3/6
    20/21 - Won Home & Away - 6/6
Well without looking up scores, remember a few we have struggled over the line getting results

The wins the most important thing here of course but with the state Wolves are currently in we should be putting on a show and winning this by 3 or 4 goals, especially at home.

I always worry when we play Wolves. Same with Palace, we just don’t seem to do well against them generally. Given the state of their pre-season though we should really go after them tonight!

Buzzing for tonight. Got a good feeling about this season which isn’t the sort of feelings I’ve had in previous campaigns. Bring it on!

We're going to play out first match of the season without a striker in the matchday squad, aren't we?

Imagine being told that back in May.

Never hought I'd be excited to play Wolves, but here we are.

Unfortunately, it seems like it'll continue to piss it down, so I wouldn't expect a beautiful game.

I have a good feeling Garnacho will bag tonight.

I’m on the way home from my brother in law’s father in law’s funeral. Aged 96, originally from County Mayo, devout Catholic and massive Red.

We were distressed to discover that a couple of the graves close by to his were decorated as shrines to Super Manchester Citeh.

Let’s celebrate his memory and give him a post-burial boost with a solid win tonight

All I want, other than the win, is absolute intensity right from the get go. It’s about time we start blowing teams away and then managing the game out.

Should have no problem keeping them out but on the flip-side, we will inevitably struggle for goals. Nervy 1-0.

Not sure if there's an error in the OP with league meetings but we lost 0-1 at OT in 2022, they had 19 shots to our 9.

Last season we won 2-0 with a 94 min goal but Wolves were difficult and edged the midfield. I recall the complaints so will be interesting to see if we can control the game better and put them away easily.

The late change in manager might help us for once. We've found them tough with their Portugal/Spanish influence in the past.

That 2-0 game was the pits in terms of performances. I just remember Lemina running through our midfield for fun until they subbed him off.

ETH was frustrated in a lot of post match interviews last season about our inability to put games away when we are top , we can dominate games and not get a shot on target or come away from a game with a with a narrow defeat or draw after a host of missed chances.

Really hope we cam remedy that this season and that we can show the composure to make our dominate spells count.

In that post it is. Well not dreadful but underwhelming. But in reality we'll probably have more experience there with McTominay and Martial. As well as Fernández. But it'd be nice to get a couple more signings in before the deadline.

Every summer I tell myself I’m going to stop caring about which millionaires, who don’t know I exist, kick the ball best this year. Now I’m watching the clock and thinking, ok, less than 4 hours, come on you beautiful mercenaries.

Can't see much other than this. Maybe Wan-Bissaka or Sancho could start, but I think we'll go all-out with this being the first game. Particularly as you'd have to argue Wolves are the least prepared side for the season after changing their manager so soon before it all kicks off. Could of course be a bit of a bounce from some players who are worried about their place in the side trying to impress more, but I doubt it. Take our chances today and we win comfortably IMO.

Absolute torrential rain here today, I'm going to have to swim to Old Trafford.
