The league cup probably represents our best chance of some silverware this season. With no european football, I think we should make a statement of intent and stop treating it as a venue to blood youngsters.

We should start our strongest team on tuesday and try and rack up some goals. RvP or Rooney scoring a hat trick would do their confidence no harm at all.

I think we should take it seriously but Wilson and other players like that deserve a chance.

Let the youngsters have a chance to shine. Maybe we can find someone for a first team run out. This is what id go for if everyone is fit and available.

    Subs:

    Thorpe/Janko
    Varela
    Rojo
    Lingard
    Lawrence
    Welbeck/Hernandez
    Johnstone

No thanks. Play the youngsters or ANYONE else, Fletcher is awful, absolute garbage and he shouldn't play for United again. That performance against Sunderland was horrific.

EDIT: Just noticed you said 'no cleverley please', yet want Fletcher to start? Did you watch the Sunderland game? Cleverley was miles better than Fletcher, who put in one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a midfielder in the PL.
They were both awful. Fletcher has turned shit for a different reason to Cleverley who just lacks a set of balls. Fletcher can still be good in games like this one though, sure he's not cut out for the premier league but it's more of a sympathy thing then anything.

Who else would we play though, other then Cleverley or Fletcher? Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick are all injured, Powell is a striker, not a midfielder, I already have Ando in there. We just don't have anyone else to put in there.

thats fine. i did say IF everyone was fit and available. Stick Amos in goal and take henderson/milinkovic on the bench. Remove Lingard and replace him with powell. Infact, if there is any truth to welbeck or hernandez leaving then id leave them out (no use playing someone who wont be here much longer) and include zaha (who can be loaned out rather than sold, if anything) instead. Harrop or Pereira are other options.

Powell is more of an attacking midfielder/number 10 than a striker. imo

It will be very interesting which players will play in CM

    Carrick: Injured
    Herrera: Injured
    Fellaini: Injured
    Anderson: Injured
Cleverley/Fletcher: I don't think both will ever play together in CM for us. Van Gaal has also said he'll play a different team against Sunderland and then against Milton Keynes.

So another chance for Kagawa there??
Maybe Powell (also i believe only Fergie thinks he's a CM)??
Maybe one of Pearson or Rothwell??

When did Anderson get injured??? Though of course it's usually a safe assumption that he's always injured, I hadn't heard anything. Thought he'd be in line to start here.

Weird to play on a Tusday having just played on Sunday. Can't see someone like Blackett starting this game. Hopefully Rojo's papers will be in order as it would be great to see him play...

..although with our luck, he'd probably injure himself in the 1st half.

We need to watch out Delle Ali of MK Dons.Probably their best player and only 18 years old.More importantly, he's a CM.I don't think he's more talented than some of our lads in the U21s but he already played League One football for a good few years so not really "inexperience" despite his age.

Would love to see Ando get a run out here, assuming he's healthy. If he can be anything more than absolutely dire, that's already an upgrade for next week.

    Amos
    Jones Keane Blackett
    Rafael James
    Cleverley Powell
    Kagawa
    Wilson Januzaj
I wouldn't be surprised to see this side perform miles better than the "first team"... Oh, but Rafael surely won't start.

I think Amos will start but J.Castro Pereira is a good shout to be on the bench.Top prospect but only just turned 18 not long ago.

With the dodgy start and no Euro football I will be very surprised if LvG fields a United XI that is full of reserves or kids. This is less common in the League Cup compared to 10 or 15 years ago.

Fans (of all sides ) like to talk up unproven youngsters but it's rare that they succeed in such environments. LvG needs a win. Going into this match with an experimental side would be incredibly risky.

Wow..the predictions. How opinions change so quickly here.Few weeks ago we were on a winning rampage while beating madrid, roma,Liverpool and now we don't even trust our team to beat KM Dons or whatever. Caf is amazing.

i would rather see someone play that could have a role in the team in the future than someone that wont. amos is older than de gea and we has 3 keepers better than him so im quite certain amos will leave when his contract is up

Lindegaard is leaving so can't see Amos leaving soon.He will when J.Pereira/Henderson/Milinkovic reached a certain stage of their development to replace him.

Not really. This is a far stronger team than the team we put out vs. Barnsley in U21s pre-season (won 2-1 with Wilson not even fit).I would put Powell there though and we really need Blackett on weekend now Smalling injured.

I am an avid watcher of under 18s and the reserves. Thorpe is a better defender than keane, blackett is a first teamer. So is james. Pearson and rothwell although inexperienced are not any worse than cleverly and fletcher. Our injuries and fletcher & cleverly playing yesterday means we will need to play youngsters.

Kagawa and hernandez again two experienced players, wilson is the best talent to come out of the academy . I think this team will beat Mk dons, it will be a competitive team and would be a good match.

Fair enough but you're watching players playing at a lower level. It's not comparable to first team football. Maybe include a couple (Wilson, Blackett) but fielding a team where most are reserves is foolhardy.

Also, if these guys are better than current first teamers they'd be getting in the team.

There were only 4 reserves players in his line-up (5 if you count Wilson).Blackett,James,Keane are first teamers as they didn't play a single minute for the U21s this season (and obviously Kagawa,Hernandez are).Thorpe had Championship experience on loan and as close as MK Dons was to promotion last season, they're still a League One team.

I don't think we will start a team as inexperience as that but it will be something quite close.

I think blackett has to be counted as a first teamer and wilson also has been training with first team since 1 august. james again has been in first team since july.
The only way we will know if the reserves are good enough is by fielding them in a competition that least matters to the club. These are the most talented of the lot and should be able to compete against a league one side. We need to show confidence in these players and let go of players like cleverly, anderson & fletcher. If lvg handt shown enough confidence in seedorf or ferguson in giggs we would not have two greats of the game.
