Newcastle will be right up for this to beat us infront of their fans to make amends for the league cup final. They shit the bed at Wembley because of the occasion, but they play at St. James' Park every week. They're in bad form in the league but you always want a big game to get you out of a rut and I think that's what they'll be seeing this game as.
I would take a draw to be honest, we haven't been great on the road and they're a strong team along with the aforementioned motivations
Yeah taking a draw to keep up 3 pts ahead

I really don't expect to see Eriksen against Newcastle. And certainly not any more than a cameo whenever he does make his first appearance back.

He's not had a short knock - he's been out for 3 months and had a moon boot on for much of that time. It's going to take him some time to rebuild fitness and match sharpness enough to start PL matches.

I've been delighted to see the positive updates on his fitness from him and ETH - and he seems to be doing some individual and light training now. But I haven't seen any photos / suggestions that he's at the stage of doing full training with the first team squad and already in contention for selection as soon as Newcastle? ETH said 'April' but I don't think he meant as early in April as the first few games. But I hope I'm wrong.
Yeah my prediction was Forest away on Apr 16,however after hearing Erik's presser before Fulham brought it forward to Everton on Apr 8 but probably being too unrealistic

I’d take a scrappy 1-0 win from one of Antony’s left foot curlers cutting in on the inside

Can’t be arsed with the media frenzy if we lose this so just win instead.

What a solid result to be wanting.

We're heading into an international break and have a solid squad that is miles better than Newcastle's who are definitely on a decline - why on earth are you willing to just settle for a point.
A draw is not a bad result, but if course I'd want them to win.

United will play for a draw. And like every time they play for a draw, they'll lose.

2-0 stinger and the top 4 race heats up

I think it might be a difficult game but every time I think that, we manage to get a victory. I thought the Bournemouth game at home would be an easy one but we struggled because of that red card offense. Hopefully we can get through the Newcastle game without too much trouble. My prediction is it might either end 1-1 or 0-1 to us which both means no loss.

I'll take a scrappy 1-0 win with Newcastle still time wasting in the final 25 minutes of the match

Was talking to a Newcastle fan who said they dominated the league cup final and should hammer us on Sunday given they are at home.

It was good stuff, whatever he was on.

Rashfords fitness is key. Sky sports reporting hes struggling with injury and only doing light training. Could be press bullshit but we are toothless with him.

Also hearing reports that Sabitzer has picked up an injury with Austria. Could potentially be going into this without Varane, Casemiro, Eriksen, Sabitzer, Martial and Rashford. Wouldn't fancy us even for a draw in that scenario.

Looks like Almirón is the only (notable) Newcastle player who's 100% going to miss this one.

Surely Rashford will be fit to play? I hope we're not at the receiving end of another hiding by average opposition

Hopefully Sir Scott McTominay can carry his form into this.

    De Gea
    AWB - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
    McSauce - Bruno - Fred
    Antony - Weghorst - Rashford

Definitely think McTominay needs to start given the high he'll be on. But he's a midfielder, he got all his goals bursting from midfield, and we're missing 3, maybe 4 (depending on Sabitzer) of our CM's. So I'd certainly go with him in midfield.

Tough to predict some as we don't know if anyone is returning with an injury (Sabitzer?), or how the injured players like Rashford and Varane are progressing.

Hoping that they're all available (but with alternatives included), I think I'd go with...

    De Gea

    AWB
    Varane / Maguire
    Martinez
    Shaw

    Fred
    McTominay

    Antony
    Fernandes
    Rashford / Sancho

    Weghorst

No satisfying midfield combination without Casemiro or Eriksen, but putting Sabitzer on the bench while he was struggling with a knee injury.

Would have been tricky game even with Casemiro in midfield. I do not expect more than 4 points from our next 3 games. We are running on fumes.

A a bunch of players have had two weeks off. Some over a week off. Guys who needed game time got some.

I don’t think there's any reason for us to physically struggling for this game.

    Worst case XI is probably:

    De Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Varane Martinez Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    Weghorst
    ---------
Heaton; Dalot, Malacia, Maguire, Lindelof; Zidane, Mainoo; Pellistri, Elanga

I actually think we will have a few surprise players back and I'll go with:

    DDG
    AWB Varane Martinez Shaw
    Sabitzer Fred
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Even if Martial is available for selection he won’t start. ETH will ease him back in with half hour cameos for a game or two.

We have McFred in midfield and play Sunday afternoon, Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Thankfully two home games.
