1:30 am kickoff. I'd rather wake up to a nightmare than this.

    4.45am for me. I won't be watching.
I didn't see yesterday's game either. Lucky me.

Newcastle haven't scored in their last 3 Premier League matches( 4 if you count their FA Cup loss to Watford). We'll probably keep a clean sheet. I'll go with a 1:0 to Man Utd after yet another dire performance. Expecting Schneiderlin and Young to start, maybe even Memphis after yesterday's performance.

Januzaj is playing for the U-21 the day before, depends how long he plays. He probably needs a whole game to be fair.

While it's perhaps a tad hyperbolic to describe this as a 'must win' game, it does feel really, really important.

It's arguably our first real test since Stoke away, given our last 3 games have been a struggling Chelsea and Swansea, and a League One team, all at home.

If we win, it'll be our third straight victory, and even though Newcastle themselves are no great shakes - only 2 wins in 10 home league games this season - it would have to be seen as a morale booster. It'll show we're capable of at least beating the teams we should be beating.

But if we lose . . . as I said, Newcastle themselves are pretty dire, and have lost their last 3 in a row. If we can't even beat these, then you genuinely would have to worry for us going forward, especially with our next game being Liverpool away.

By this time next week, we could potentially be 9 points behind Tottenham, whose own next two league games are home to a faltering, Vardly-less Leicester, and home to Sunderland.

Our chances of a bare minimum top four finish are going to be shaped to a significant degree by what happens over the next 7 days.

    Objectively...

Good 20 minutes against Chelsea - with them missing golden opportunities (lucky to draw).

Barely beat Swansea (lucky to win).

Barely could muster a shot against League One opposition (lucky to win).

It's inevitable our luck will run out. Newcastle ruined Liverpool's decent revival and it wouldn't surprise me if they score 1 or two and just sit on it.

Is it fair to say that everyone should just tune in for the 2nd half.

    The first will end 0-0.

    I'd like to see:

    -----------DDG------------
    Young--Smalling-Blind--BJ---
    -----------Morgan----------
    ------Herrera----Pereira---
    ------------Mata-----------
    -----Memphis---Martial------

At least this way we might create something, or then again maybe not.

Weirdly, I dont actually care what happens. There is little joy felt from a win, these days. Ill watch with no expectations and will probably feel the same regardless of the result.

Newcastle will want it more than United and their fans will be up for it too. I think I put a 1-0 to Newcastle in my predictions....might have been a 0-0 ? Will have to double check.

Game on BT Sport so Scholesy will be doing his nut after another tepid performance. He might actually say van Gaal has to go this time.

The good news is the Geordies won't settle for the camping that they performed at O.T, the bad news is they will probably score.

Newcastle are an odd bunch and it depends what team turns up, but they certainly seemed to have turned a corner recently, Sissoko against Darmian/Young could be an interesting battle.

Midfield of Carrick/Schneiderlin should be pretty good hopefully, I am hoping it's a 3 with Herrera ahead with Martial/Lingard wide.

Anyway playing away usually suits us better as teams give us a bit more space too attack, so we shall see what happens. Let's just hope the semi good Rooney turns up rather than the 1 that played against Sheffield.

No wins or draws or even goals in their last 4. Previous to that was a 1-1 draw at home to Aston fecking Villa.

If we can't beat this shower we're in trouble. I think they'll score but we'll win. Which has lead me to a 1-2 prediction. That's not really based on anything...possibly because it's 2am and I should be asleep.

After staying awake up to 3AM and more to watch Utd play all these years, I am really beginning to doubt whether this match is worth staying awake.

If you look passed the stats and saw their game against Arsenal you will see it's a good performance, they were just let down with poor finishing. No doubt though they will find their boots against us.

BT Sports are some cruel feckin' masochists to have this game on tele.

I mean I'm grateful that it is or anything... but the neutrals who want to watch football on Tuesday night must be pretty miffed.

Anyway, Newcastle are pretty terrible... so we should at least manage a draw.

I would love to see something very different and attacking.. Even if we loose we need good football..

4-3-3 with more bodies in midfield, Rooney, Schwein and Fellaini to be dropped, I know it wont happen but Id like to see..

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Jackson
    Herrera Schneiderlin Pereira
    Januzaj Martial Depay

Subs: Romero, Young, Schwein, Rooney, Keane

How come so many predicted CBJ to start ahead of Young?I thought it's a given that Young and Darmian will be the fullbacks?

Don't think Januzaj will play tomorrow given his expected involvement against Reading tonight.

BFS is injured anyway. I suspect he will bring Carrick back in. Januzaj is playing for the U-21's tonight, so I would put Lingard in there somewhere. We need some pace in this side.
