It's a shame we're doing so shite at the minute. If everything was all rosy and the side wasn't under scrutiny or pressure it would have been the perfect game to let Tuanzebe start in.

Play the first 11 to gain momentum or rest them for Leicester?

First one for me. No point in playing reserves when your first 11 needs a win for confidence.

I initially thought we should rotate the entire 11 but that was a reaction to Sunday. We do need to play at least 8 or 9 of our best if there are no injuries. What is the latest on Mkhitaryan?

    ...............DDG
    TFM....Bailly...Blind....Shaw
    ....Carrick or Schneiderlin
    .......Herrera......Pogba
    Mkhitaryan....Zlatan....Rashford

Not a fan of Smalling at all but if he does play then I hope Jose tries Blind at DM.

Please no Rooney, Young, or Rojo.

Subs depending on who starts: Smalling, Valencia, Mata, Memphis, Darmian, Carrick, Schneiderlin

It's a no win game, even if we score 3 or 4 and swat them aside with ease people will say we should be doing that as a matter of fact, and of course if we lose the Death Star shaft beckons.

We should start Rooney in the hope he can chip a couple off the record as he wont leave until he gets it.

Yep, bit like when we played Shrewsbury in the 5th Round of the FA Cup last season.

Manchester United made easy work of League One Shrewsbury Town to give temporary relief to embattled manager Louis van Gaal

I wouldn't give any of them the night off after that.

We need to find our best team fast and play it consistently.
Agreed. They don't deserve a break for how they've played the past week.

If you get bollocked by fecking Watford then you should have to prove yourself against the likes of Northampton.

But what if we lose/draw against them.
That'll put confidence at rock bottom.
If we lose then we may aswell liquidate the club.

In all seriousness we should just play our first team to have more chance of winning. Losing again even with a second string team will have an incredible effect on our morale.

    4 losses in a row?
Since Fergie left, MUFC seems to be all about setting negative records, so it if this record is to be set, it may well happen against Northampton.

In fairness though, I think a draw or narrow win are the likeliest results. A loss would surely be one of the biggest losses in MUFC's recent history.
    The records just keep tumbling.

Is there any replays for this ?

I doubt there is ,so if we lose on penalties then is that counted as a defeat?

I think the players need confidence and one or two need games

    ---------------------------DDG---------------------------
    TFM---------Smalling----Blind-----------Shaw
    -------------------Herrera----Carrick----------------
    Mhiki-----------------Mata---------------Memphis
    ----------------Martial/Rashford-------------------

Subs: Rojo for Shaw, Schneiderlin for Carrick and Lingard for one of the strikers for the last 15 when we are 3 up

Bailly, Pogba, Zlatan and Valencia back for Leicester

Well yes of course, but the point I was trying to make was that we have a tie we should very much be favourites to win even with a slightly weaker side. It'll prove to be more tricky than difficult. If we actually lose and not even force a replay at OT then something is seriously wrong.

Is Luke going to be fit? If yes, is Jose now going to freeze him out? Who plays LB then? Rojo back in? Darmian back in from the cold? Jose is going to have to be very careful how he deals with his players or his damaged reputation could be destroyed entirely.

He was stupid to single Shaw out for not closing down.... didn't think Shaw was injured but I think I'd play him and Carrick for an hour against Northampton - we need to start a little bit of momentum

I think you are right about Jose.... he needs to take the flak and it was unfair to have a pop at Shaw - i think Shaw walks into our team... at worst he made one mistake....

For both goals who was picking up the runner- lots of space in our box

What are the instructions anyway? Is it a full press or press in our half? I dont really see what he's trying to do at times

We need fundamental changes to the first team

A player who cant effectively pass the ball (like Fellaini) shouldn't start and a player who has shown little or no creativity (like Rooney) shouldnt be near that 10 spot

Hopefully Rooney plays the whole 90 minutes, so that he can get some rest for the Leicester game. For his own good of course, so he can be fresh for Luhansk. Very important game that. So we'll obviously need our captain to get us back on track in Europe.

    *fingers crossed*
Hope he goes on a long rest for prepration of next pre season, i hear we may play madrid and barcelona.

Agree with this. Hopefully he'll break the record before January.

Its just September. Mourinho must settle things down before it's too late. Confidence is key and any game counts, we should play our best side and him Mourinho should find the best formula fast. 2 3 wins in a row and things will look much better next month. Hopefully.

some of the squaddies into form, whilst still win the game.

That means Darmian, Scheineiderlin, Young and Lingard should get 75+ mins, so they can be more useful when used from the bench.

Despite the bad result at weekend, Id still rest DDG, Bailly, Valencia, Shaw, Fellaini, Pogba, Rooney and Zlatan.

Aside from losing 4 on the trot, Im also not fussed at all if we lose

    Romero
    Damian, Smalling, Blind, Rojo
    Carrick, Schneiderin
    Young Memphis Martial
    Rashford

I don't care which team Mourinho will play for this game, but pleeeeeaaasseeee, as much as I like how Felli responds to all the criticism and abuse, I would like some other players to take his place, and hoping Mou will play other type of tactics. A surprise BFS return perhaps?

Time for Carrick to get some minutes.

    De Gea
    Tofu Smalling Blind Darmian
    Carrick
    Schneiderlin Herrera
    Mata Rashford Lingard
Need to smash them 4 or 5 nil to get some of our confidence back.

Ideally, it's a perfect gig for a chance to build up some confidence which is well needed for the Saturday's gig. However, the MK Dons memory is still well alive so you never know..I just hope that the players will turn up and do what's expected from them.

    Valencia------------Smalling-----Blind------------------Rojo?
    -----------------------------Carrick---------------------------
    ----------------Herrera----------------Pogba-----------------
    --------Mata-------------------------------------Memphis-----
    ----------------------------Rashford---------------------------

    SUB: Romero - Miki - Young - Schneiderlin - Lingard - Rooney - Ibra

Changes from the last game needs to happen. Mata needs to start, we lacked so much creativity last game, need him so he can interchange, move in field, pick the passes through the channels and keep that ball moving. Herrera in for Rooney, Rooney was horrific last game so i hope to god he is atleast dropped to the bench. So like to see Herrera in central to provide energy, mobility and link-up plays which in my opinion will benefit Pogba and also can link with Mata very well, Herrera is such an under rated player. So defiantly like to see these three play. Carrick in holding, felliani can do with a rest, he's been playing decent so dont want him running out of steam. Rojo in for Shaw due to injury. Blind in for Bailly, i think Bailly needs a rest aswell. Valencia in right back, with Mata on the right, united need to provide width which Valencia can do well with Smalling covering him. Memphis need games, the guy keeps going on as sub with only 5 mins left in the games expecting him to make an impact with the opposition already parking the bus with the lead up. I think this game is perfect for him to start and blow off some steam, get a good run out and hopefully make an impression. Then Rashford up front with Ibra on the bench, dont really mind who starts out of them two but defiantly like to see Rashford start in that position in game like these.

Darmian doesn't deserve a start. Give Mensah the nod.

You will win comfortably, then, flush with victory, drop points in the next game after this one.

Shaw is injured. Not having Rojo play. He is just terrible. Blind to LB. I hope.

Fosu-Mensah deserves a start in this game but not at RB but midfield!

    Big game nervous times...

I can see Rooney starting this up top.. transitioning to a bench player means playing in efl cup and europa league games and being rested for Premier League. Obviously the risk is he scores and gets back in the team, but if we want to use this to rotate, then Ibra and peobably rashford should be rested so he comes in. Unless memphis starts up front with lingard and young on the wings.

Darmian doesn't deserve a start. Give Mensah the nod.
He was one of our better players against Feyenoord. He created our best chance and tried to get forward. He needs games. Start him.
