If we decide to play and put in an effort, we might get a result. However, I'm still quite negative towards our chances.

    Could be a cracker nonetheless.

I would be pretty confident of this game if we had Baily and Jones. But we will be playing with Smalling and a very (seemingly) nervous Lindelof. There is bound to be a mistake between them. If they play well, we'll have a chance.

I'll be on a 12 hour flight during this game. Gonna be hard to avoid spoilers!

Jose will be desperate to win this, there will be no lack of effort!

    Really psyched for this

Pretty sure de Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Lindelof, Carrick, Herrera, Pogba and Lukaku start. The others are a bit more difficult to predict. I thought we were allowed to use more substitutes in this game for some reason, but unfortunately it's just the usual three.

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Darmian
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Lukaku Rashford
    ---
Romero; Blind; Matic, Fellaini, Lingard, Mata; Martial

I'd like us to just go with this and have a right go at Madrid, but I can definitely see Lingard being in there somewhere.

Mkhi out wide doesn't do enough for me. He played more centrally against Sampdoria and that would really well as Valencia and Pereira provided the width, if Herrera and Valencia can do that and allow Mkhi to move centrally then it should mean he's more effective.

I've changed my lineup predictions a few times now. Despite the fact that at least five players are unavailable due to injuries and suspensions, this one is very difficult to call.

The only thing I feel reasonably certain about is that he'll play a back four of Valencia–Smalling–Blind–Darmian. I'll be surprised if Lindelof even gets any minutes in this match, let alone is in the starting line-up.

I'm looking forward to this in the same way I look forward to us in the Community Shield. The first league match is the priority for fans and staff alike but I can't help but excited by these curtain raisers.

I'm still betting on Matic starting instead of Carrick.

Difficult to see anything other than a comfortable Real win. They are better than us in every department. Hopefully we can keep it tight and nick it somehow.

I think Herrera will man-mark Isco. My bet is that the defensive formation is eerily similar to what we used against Chelsea last year.

I really think we improved this summer. I think it'll be a 3-1 loss, but a close one, and one where we learn and improve throughout the match. I really think playing a team of Real's caliber, no matter the result, is huge for a club as young as we are.

Sorry but  Contradicting yourself a small bit there. But ya I agree, can't see us winning this.

I think there was an insane amount of space between us and Real at the end of the season. Real has, in my opinion, ten world class players. We have for sure two (Pogba and De Gea), and potentially three (Lukaku), but the rest of our squad just isn't at that level.

I do believe that we improved from playing this summer. I also think Lukaku and Matic were brilliant additions. We're not at Real's level, yet, but Jose's tactical brilliance and squad fit will allow us to play above our weight. I just think Real has too much talent.

I do not think we will get smashed. Looking at the quality of the single players we are no too far away.
Also we have the better manager.
However, Real are the better team at this point in time and their core is playing together for quite a while now.
This kind of understanding is too much for us to beat.

    1-2 I say.

Hope to see the new boys play.

Smalling and Lindelof at the back is not good. Our attack needs to bail our defense out tomorrow.

I don't mean to sound negative but why are so many of you expecting us not to get dicked?

Personally I think we will surprise a lot of people (especially those who've written us off). Even if we don't win it'll be a tight game.

I don't rule out a win for us to be honest. Ronaldo & Bale might not be match fit and they are a bit behind us in preparation. Also they've got a supercup final against Barça to think about so might not risk too much.

Really want Mata to start but unsure where he fits in the team for this game.

Doubt we will play with a #10, and he'll want grafters on the wing for this game.

We have a manager renowned for parking the bus, which should especially be evident in a one-off final against such a superior side - I think we have every chance of keeping the score down

Last game vs MLS all stars, there is one player we should stop at all cost. Isco. Our midfield should also able to contain Modric, Casemiro/Kovacic. If Kroos also plays, Matic need to limit his movement and pass.

Finger crossed...for +1, i will bet on United. But for 0.5, my money on Madrid.

I'm sure that Juventus and Atletico thought the same.

This Madrid side is a machine. You can't stop them from scoring. You can try to park the bus but they will simply steamroll through you.
