We need a win to profit from these early stumbles by our rivals and also to keep up the pace with City.

Very early yet but I feel this is an important fixture. We need to be winning more of these tough away fixtures if we're going to challenge for the league.

Win and we're breathing down City's necks heading into the international break, lose and we'll be playing catch up.

I bet Swansea are looking at the Crystal Palace and West Ham results thinking they can pull off a good win too.

Want a win against Swansea so badly, feels like such a long time since we beat them. I know they did us twice last season and won the FA Cup game against Moyes but when was the last team we actually beat them?

We're due. 0-2 United Herrera, Rooney

no it's the other way round. We're going there knowing we lost there twice last year, and are wary, but very aware we have to capitalise on today's freak results.

and to keep in touch with city

Very tough match. We seem to struggle against Swansea lately. Really hope we beat them as Chelsea and Liverpool lost today. Would also be a huge improvement considering we lost 6 points against them last season.

    Team should be...

    ---------------Romero---------------
    Darmian--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    ---------------Carrick---------------
    -------Herrera--------Morgan-------
    Mata----------Rooney----------Memphis

Subs: Johnson, McNair, Valencia, Basti, Fellaini, Young, Hernandez
I would have Bastian in for Carrick and Morgan playing deeper. Hes been brilliant defensively for us this season. Herrera playing at the tip of the 3. Gives him more space to operate.

We were just very toothless against them last year. They didnt exactly trouble us or give us hard games in all honesty. The game at their ground especially, we should not have lost that.

I expect us to win this 2/3 nil.

Think you're a bit too optimistic mate, there's a reason why the bookmakers have priced us at evens so this is definitely our biggest test so far. Going by our first three EPL matches, this doesn't fill me with confidence. Was just lurking on the Swansea forum and their fans are very confident they can beat us.

It is absolutely imperative that we win the midfield battle. Do that and we can win, especially considering Swansea's open playing style...

Monk will have them playing their way, so pretty confident about this game. Do not see any reason why Swansea would play for a draw or park the bus at home..
    I hope this is true.
Newcastle also started the game playing attacking/balanced football. Once they realised that they were getting attacked and were likely to lose, they parked the bus and the rest is history.
Not only does parking the bus tactic create a boring game, but it also usually results in us losing or drawing, so I'm desperately hoping Swansea try and win the game.

Six days after that FA Cup loss we beat them 2-0 at Old Trafford after goals from Valencia and Welbeck.

Offcourse they are confident. What im saying is, if you actually saw the matches from last season, we just didnt put the games away.

A win, any kind of win, would be great after today's results.

I'm hoping we remain looking solid at the back but things start to click in attack. 0-2.

Just woken up and seen the results. Still so early to be looking at the ladder and looking to the future but 3 points here going into the break would be massive. Even a point wouldn't be horrible.

Can't think of any serious title challenge if we won't use oppo's slips to our advantage.

Looking forward to this. Hoping we can take the confidence from Europe into this match and Herrera to start in a 3 man midfield. Want Bastian to start and Carrick to replace after 60/65 mins or Vice Versa

Most important game of the season. Lost a lot of points in tricky away games like this last season, we need to win tomorrow. I don't care how, I just want those 3 points.

Give me a lucky, scratchy 1-0 deflected/OG winner and I'll be a happy man!

Due a good performance against these guys.

Monk will have them playing their way, so pretty confident about this game. Do not see any reason why Swansea would play for a draw or park the bus at home.

Fancy this will be the first real test for Blind as he will rightly or wrongly be targeted by Gomis. Thank god we have Darmian at RB. At Schneiderlin to stop the midfield runs.
    What is their way?

Last year in the second game they scored twice from two shots and one of them was deflected.

In the first game they caught us at a good time. We had Young and Lingard as our wing backs. Then Januzaj came on for the injured Lingard, which confused matters more. Even Nani came on that game.

Swansea play the same way in all games, they do a lot of keep ball. They do not tend to change formation or style to combat the opposition. They believe in their strengths and play to them.

Swansea are quite good at also parking the bus and making use of counter attack. I have no doubt this is how they will go about trying beating us. We would probably destroy them in a head to head midfield duel. Gommis has great hold up play and they have speedy wingers. This won't be easy.

Under Brenton and Laudrap then yes.

But Monk has changed their style depending on the opposition. In the second game last year they let us have the ball. The same against Chelsea early on this season they were direct and played on the counter.

Big test for Darmian. Montero is a real handful. Those bursts of acceleration are troublesome, and they've got a lot to aim for in the box. If Darmian can keep him quiet and win the one on ones like he often does, we should be okay. I don't see them breaking us down through the middle.

I feel good going into this. We are defending well and the midfield is looking strong. The fact they will attack us hopefully means we will get chances which, at the moment we need as we struggle to break teams down who defend stubbornly. I fancy Schneiderlin to have a really good game and hopefully Herrera starts. We are due a win there and I can see it happening.

A point wouldn't be a disaster aslong as the performance is good and we beat Liverpool in two weeks ;) ..would make for a good start to the season.

I think we'll win by two goals. Swansea will play for a win and will leave gaps behind - we will have more than enough space to exploit. I think we'll create a lot of chances with the way we are playing (and the way Swansea have been playing), and i'm confident that Rooney is going to show up. We are due a win there.

If we control the game and keep a lid on Gomis we've a good chance

Hardest game of the season by a mile and hoping we can keep our creativity from Bruges

1st big test for Darmian against Montero so will be interesting to see how he does

Got draw written all over this, Swansea are a solid team, hard to break down.

I'll take a boring 1-0 win at this point but I think it'll be a low score draw 0-0 or 1-1.

This game is the first real yardstick this season regarding our progress or lack of it. It should give a good indicator as to our prospects.

Couldn't agree more with this part. I've said before that I think some our best performances under Van Gaal have and will come against the better footballing sides than those who employ negative tactics to frustrate us. Swansea are getting a lot of credit for scoring twice against a Chelsea side who have conceded 2 or more in every game so far. They'll find our defence a tougher nut to crack and I see our attack finding much more joy behind them today than we saw against Newcastle, Villa or Spurs.

I'd predicted 0-2 to United but I think I'm going to up it now. Reckon we could well put in a big performance today.

Winning today will give fans and players such a lift. Swansea are really a bastard of an opponent at the moment.
