It's a game against a top 6 team, it's the last game ever at White Hart Lane and also with a win they mathematically secure 2nd place. If you think Tottenham and their crowd will not be pumped up for this, I think you'll be surprised.

After this game they can go on holiday, but this is important to them.
I find it hard to believe that there will be any motivation right after watching Chelsea lift the trophy. I suppose we'll see.

Its worrying that people want us to field a bunch of youngster in this, especially as when we get thrashed they'll be the ones complaining.

Play a strong side here and rest for the final 2 games, a drubbing here would be fecking embarrassing.

Demolition of the old (current) Spurs stadium starts within 24 hours of the match ending ... so I advise any United fans not to get drunk and fall asleep unseen in one of the stands.

If any do, then the upside is that a place in footballing mythology will be theirs.

That's what I thought, so although I'm sure the players care about the team... it's a lot less motivating than if the money goes into their own pockets.

Also, wouldn't most Spurs fans rather see United in the top 4 than Arsenal? I'm an American so forgive the question please if it is dumb.
Yes. But not to the extent that they'd want anything less than a Spurs win on Sunday.

I personally think Spurs will be up for it. They'll want to beat us, plus they want to send off their stadium in the best possible way.

We should sit deep and play on the counter, we won't be able to go toe to toe against Spurs at WHL with our depleted squad. I guess it's a case of, if we win - nice, if not then we move on.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply they wouldn't try and put on anything less than a professional display... but more simply pointing out that they don't have any special motivation to win since they've locked up top 4 and may have by then no chance at the title.

What's the over under on the FA's fine for the under strength teams we will field in the remaining matches?

You can put your house on all 3 starting in the final if fit. And rightly so.
Except Fellaini, the other two are not dead sure to start, in my opinion. Blind could still play left-back, if the manager needs more attacking threat from there, and Mata the right-wing, due to his experience.

Two teams with nothing to play for but pride really... could be an exciting game! Though i expect plenty of rotation from us so theyll probably win.

Jose doesn't trust Blind at lb, darmian is the first choice. Mata should start, and if so, Lingard will be played for his defensive work.

When does one add a youngster to the prediction squad? When they're confirmed as being with the others at the hotel? Why isn't Mitchell already there? I think there's a good chance he could play Sunday.

Mourinho should play both Smalling and Jones to check which one is in better form to play the final.

Are we going to give Spurs the Guard Of Honour on Sunday for getting slightly more points than they did last year? What a team.

This game is going to be wounded hearts vs wounded team.

I wonder if Liverpool drop points we will give it a shot against spurs.

Don't be so harsh! They didn't bottle it, their manager just hasn't won anything with a very talented team, you know just lose all competitions so you can go all out and focus on not winning the prem that's what they did and did it well.

Yeah but we progressed a few more points then last year! Even though the one opportunity all year they had to truly pressure Chelsea they fecked up and lost to a 15th place team.

But don't worry Harry Kane, Ali, erikkson will be raring to go again next season on their small wages ready to give it their all for another pointless season.

We shouldn't let Spurs play to their boring defensive 1-1 game plan.

We have nothing to lose now. We should play the next two games with gay abandon and see where it has us after the game against Southampton. Who knows other teams may have dropped enough points to open another door for us.

    De Gea
    Tuanzebe Bailly Smalling Darmian
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mata
    Martial Rooney

If Liverpool lose tomorrow we still have a very realistic chance of finishing in the top 4 provided we beat a Spurs side lacking motivation after having lost the title.

We need to go for this with a full-strength side. If this weekend doesn't work out well for us, then we can rest players in the last two games.

Why did we start becoming so bitter towards Spurs?

They aren't even rivals per se.

    That is just silly.

And if any of our players get injured the anti-Jose mob will be out in full force for risking our players in dead rubbers.

He will play a much weaker team and rightfully so.

If we can't beat Ajax to make it to the UCL, quite frankly we don't deserve to be in there.

I would have said that line up is about right, alot of them won't start the final anyway, but the players need to play still, a two week rest could do some more harm than good, plus Smalling and Mata really need to get some game time in, and let us not forget we can still finish in the top 4.

Pogba could be excused this game, but will hopefully play mid week with Rashford and Miki too, then for Palace game, yes you'd play the kids if there's nothing riding on it.

Not 72 hours after a tough semi final though.

We won't finish in the top 4.

Even then, finishing in the top 4 only gets us into the qualifying stages. Winning the Europa league gets us into the group stage.

We have to give ourselves the best possible opportunity of doing that. We are already injury ravaged as is.

Could be a good time to get a win after Chelsea sealing up the title last night. Hopefully it will be one of those LVG not expecting much but come away with a win type game.

I am not one for playing anything other that the strongest side you have available.
But for the last few PL games SOD it play the u18's for all I care , this season has been a fecking nightmare.
The EL Final is all that matters now, we must win this and get CL football next season, we are not going to get any of the players we want for next season without it.

Think we should try out a few youth players who Jose thinks might have something to offer next season. Shame TFM is injured. Would have been the perfect opportunity for him.

I would definitely not play are:
    Pogba, Herrera, Valencia, Blind, Rashford

We will definitely see the following:
    Smalling, Jones, Carrick, Rooney, Martial

In short, the match is meaningless for us and we will just be competing in it because we have to. Any other manager would have given it a go, but Jose is very pragmatic and won't want to risk any more injuries for the EL final, so he won't mind a loss.

    DDG
    Tuanzebe Jones Smalling Darmian/Blind
    Carrick
    Mata McTominay Fellaini Rooney
    Martial

Feel sorry for Martial for having to play in that lineup. He needs a little help to regain his form and from the look of things, seems like he will have to play with Rooney again. I really wanted to see him with play alongside Pogba, Herrera and Rashford.

Edit: Fellaini is suspended. So, the following then
    DDG
    Tuanzebe Jones Smalling Darmian/Blind
    Carrick McTominay
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Rooney

Mourinho should try to find Bailly's replacement for the final; give others a run to see who can partner Blind.
