Can't see the point in resting De Gea. We've got feck all games anyway this and he's a keeper.

Lindegaard has no match practice though. I'd rather play a world class keeper than play a decent one with no game time in ages.
Match rhythm, I believe it is called.
Hopefully we are controlling the game to such an extent either keeper has feck all to do.

If Lindegaard plays we're not resting DDG as much as we're giving some playing time to Anders though. It's pretty normal to field the second keeper in cup matches. Lindegaard needs match fitness. With whatever is going on in our training ground DDG could get injured any moment, and it's only smart to keep your second keeper at least somewhat matchfit.

We haven't won the FA Cup for over a decade now. Judging by LvG's recent comments, I think this is a competition that he would likely take seriously. It would be nice if we could have a good cup run.

If Van Gaal fails to bring decent football against this team.

    Well, that'd be annoying.

I can't remember the last time we haven't met one of the top ten teams of the PL in the third round to be honest, when was that horrible Leeds match? And was that in the third or fourth round?

This takes me back to the good old SAF days in the late 90s, when we would sport some kinda arrogant surf and turf team of first teamers, bench warmers and someone like Erik Nevland for 30 minutes. Scholes would score a quick goal, then Ole two, and we'd take the foot off for the last 60 minutes of the match.

I expect Yeovil to try really really hard for the first five-ten minutes, get a couple of corners maybe, look a little dangerous, and then us to push the turbo boost for the next twenty and score two quickies. One or two more goals in the void which will be the second half, likely one from Wilson.

Any chance of Anderson getting a game? For the laugh like.
No I think not. Why waste valuable playing minutes on a lost cause when you could give that to a younger player with potential.

I would rather have Pereira start the game than Anderson. In fact I am almost certain that Pereira will start given that he has been on the bench quite regularly this season.

I want us to progress here and LvG will probably play something very close to full strength considering what happened at MK Dons (and this is the only other competition we're in). However, I would like to see McNair, Blackett, and Wilson play. I expect we'll see the 352 again, with perhaps van Persie and Mata the most likely to be left out:

    de Gea
    McNair Evans Blackett
    Rafael Fletcher Herrera Shaw
    Rooney
    Falcao Wilson

That's what I'd like to see, but we'll probably get one of Smalling or Jones replacing McNair or Blackett, and Carrick replacing Fletcher. Januzaj might also be in the mix to get some minutes towards fitness, but might be relegated to a substitute appearance again.

The Telegraph have said this morning that Wilson, Pereira, Lingard, Januzaj, Powell, Anderson and Pearson are to start this game.

Why in gods name are we giving Anderson a game, there better be some experience in the midfield and up front with Wilson, otherwise we are taking the piss.

I'm not even sure how we'd fit that lot in the same XI, so hopefully the Telegraph have got their wires crossed somehow.

I can understand some of them playing, but not Anderson, to be honest not Powell, who couldn't get a game at Leicester, but we will risk him in the only trophy we can win. There is an U-21 game on Friday to give them a game. I am fine with Pereira getting a game and even Pearson as long as it is Herrera with him and not just Fletcher. I watched them the other week and they played well together. I wouldn't want Wilson on his own, so hopefully, one of Falcao, RVP or Rooney will partner him.

I don't think RvP will be playing, but I expect Falcao will partner Wilson upfront.

How the feck are we even going to fit that 7 into a starting line-up?Unless Pearson plays CB or Lingard/Januzaj as FBs, which would be painful to see.

Plus I don't want to see a CM partnership of Anderson-Powell ever again.

Lingard and Januzaj as wingbacks in a 3-5-2, with a midfield 3 of Pearson, Anderson, Pereira, and a Powell Wilson front 2. No way that's the team though, they must have made a mistake.

Hopefully they are just presuming he will use it to blood loads of kids. As you say it doesn't make sense and LvG surely isn't that stupid.

No offence to Fletcher but I don't really want to see him starting games anymore and i'm not sure how much impact he really has as a sub. Would much rather see us give one of the young midfielders like Pearson or Rothwell a chance.

Absolutely pointless playing Anderson. He's a lost cause with no future here and I've always been of the opinion, that no matter the level of the opposition you should always play players who at least have a short-term future here (e.g, Valencia, Young and Fellaini) or players that have promise (Wilson, Januzaj, etc). Anderson obviously meets neither of those descriptions. A waste of a starting berth.

We have players who need to get some playing time due to coming back from injury. This is the perfect game. Rafael, Shaw and Herrera, plus in a way Falcao need game time. If not tomorrow when will they get it? They are playing Southampton next weekend, we need these players up and running. If they don't play and bloody Anderson does I will be furious.

    OK, hopefully something like this:

Strong defence to hopefully ensure we don't get caught out, much needed game time for Falcao, Rafael, Shaw and Herrera, and starts for Wilson, Januzaj and Pereira. I haven't seen anything of Pearson, but from what I've read on here, I wouldn't have a problem with him replacing Fletcher in that lineup.

These are the games Januzaj should be getting good minutes in. Hope Blind/Di Maria gets fit for this one.

De Gea; Rafael; Smalling, Jones, Shaw; Fletcher, Herrera; Mata, Rooney, Januzaj; Falcao.

I'd like to see something a little more conventional. If Blind is anywhere near fit then I'd see him in the side, too.

I want Anderson to play. It makes no actual sense for the team, and would do more harm than good, but it's Ando.
He also needs to start putting in some performances to get a short contract extension and get his testimonial

Don't want Fletcher anywhere near this side tbh, we need to win this to progress as we don't have many games to play this season.

    Under a tree.
Isn't his contract up this summer? Anyone who would buy him now would only do so for a very small fee anyways. He will be gone on a free next summer.
Anderson is out of contract in the summer, hasn't kicked a ball in months and has no future with Utd... he'll be off on a free, and the sooner the better.

He's had 7 years here to show what he can, or more the point, cant do... one game against lower league opposition is hardly likely to tell anyone anything they don't already know about the fat lazy useless bastard at this stage.

I'd rather see a 16 year old from the academy get a game than that so called footballer.
I know, but no harm in giving him a run out against a 3rd tier team. Might prompt someone to take him off us for the remainder of his contract if he could put in a half decent performance. No one is going to buy him, but take him on loan and share a small percent of his wages, at least he will be gone. Wishful thinking, i know!
