Too lightweight for RB or R of MF even, imo.

Whether that could change I don't know, but how long do you give it?

Nice footballer, but I can't say I'm amazed or appalled by this news.
Lightweight is an odd description of him in my opinion. 6 foot and well well built even at 19.

James Robson is dire as a journalist. It mentioned Dalot there for what? At least five hours, other places picked it up spreading like wildfire, then he changed it on the quiet with seemingly no apology.
Basically looks like he changed it as soon as Dalot tweeted saying he was waiting for the new season to start

Dalot is going nowhere ffs  since when do united give up on a player after 1 year?

defensive assertiveness then? or competitive spirit?

I was trying not to seem too harsh, honestly.

Any chance we could have him as a banned source in the Transfer Tweets thread?

Competitive spirit definitely way off too.

Positioning was very suspect though.

Feel he has been a bit hard done by. He's got a lot of potential in my eyes.
It will be good for the club to have two top young right backs vying for the same position, and good for their development too. Its been quite some time since we've had that situation in any position on the field.

It's nonsense that Dalot was poor last season. He performed well in what was a massive step up for him.

OK then, what I'm really getting at is a lack of bottle, imo.

Positioning on crosses for headers & headers at both ends, he doesn't fancy it.

But that would be considered too harsh & not go down great, I thought,.

Possibly rightly too harsh, he's young, first season & so on.

I could be wrong as well, :D.

Positively, he's nice & quick, plays intelligently & shapes a lovely cross. But defensively, ie: the more unpleasant stuff, he isn't great is he?

The story that Dalot has been told he can leave has to be fake news...I personally think Ole loves his versatility and will use him like Fergie used Oshea back in the day as a right back, left back, and in Dalot's case right winger. This tactical acuity will allow us to play Dalot and AWB down the right late in games against a side with say a very attacking left back such as Andy Robertson or Marco Alonso.

Would be surprised if we sold him in fairness but that isn't to say Ole has taken a look and doesn't fancy him.

He is the manager now after all.

We would be crazy to let him go, so I find this story hard to believe. Ole knows we need depth and squad variety, and Dalot surely must be on a comparatively low salary. Unless he intends to promote a youth player this makes no sense.
It's definately not true. Ole name dropped him as one of the players who he wants to give chances to next season.

btw the Evening Standard have edited their report and it now says Darmian instead of Dalot. Might have been an honest mistake.

i hope this is all bs, how could he possibly consider losing a young exciting player with loads of potential and then go and open contract extension talks with flaming Lingard??????

The guys come into a terrible man utd team at 19 years old, with a dreadful CB pairing. No chance he's getting sold after one year. Can play RB LB and RM this guy will be here for a while.

He is a very good player with loads of potential, can play in multiple positions and has what this squad has been lacking, attacking drive and technique, dribbling and delivery. If we play the way we assume Ole wants us to then he will be a great asset.

Would be highly disappointing if he is sold but if that is the case then I hope we are adding attacking talent to the right because I think he provides more from that position than Mata or Lingard.

State of "Journalism", I guess Dalot gets more clicks than Darmian.

Defensively he never looked assured and comfortable, whereas offensively, we now have James who is a specialist in the position.

If we can recover for the amount paid for him then we should move him on.

We're in need for a natural left footed player for the left flank so I'd use the money and get a young LB to cover for Shaw.
He’s 19 for feck sake. He shows promise going forward, can cross the ball well and actually might have that certain intangible sense of bollocks that few members of the squad possess (see PSG).

Has he got a bit of work to do at defending? Yes. So let’s buy into the potential and get to work on that.

I can’t say I’m surprised that I come into threads such as these and continue to read pure numbskullery.
