No idea whether he's going to be good enough, but can't see how anyone after only 26 appearances can say that he won't. If you add uphill game time, it probably wouldn't amount to 10 games in total.

I'm willing to extend Fred plenty more patience, particularly in light of what Fernandinho said about how long it would take him to adjust to the PL. Look at Fernandinho. He's arguably the most respected DM in the league right now, but for a good few seasons he was genuinely crap.
We kind of need him to come his right now though... Really hope he kicks on, but i just don't see it in him. Would love to be wrong though.

Huge expectations on his shoulders for this season, considering how crap our recruitment was. Let's hope he improves his game massively.

Fred will do well in a pressing system, I think he's really good at winning the ball back. Just needs to up his consistency.

I really really hope he steps up this season and to put that dismal 1st season down as an adjustment to a new league & environment. A bit like Victor Lindelof who looked so damn out of his depth in his first season but has now become an important player for us and will most likely be Maguire’s CB partner.

I hope Fred really takes his chance, silences his critics (I am one of them) and has a very good consistent season to establish himself as an important 1st team player.

I think another problem with Fred is he tries to hard to impress. I think that's why he starts games so poorly. I think the pace of the prem is tough to pick up especially in midfield where you get no time on the ball and it doesn't surprise me that his best games were in Europe where the pace can be slower.

Well he obviously feels he has a point to prove because he does and that's only natural. He will get used to the pace of the league but it takes time for some foreign players. I think he will adapt this year and become important to the team.

Fred and James are the two best pressers in the club, if not two of the pressers I've ever seen anywhere.

In Fred's case, it's his core strength and concentration on the ball that lets him down.

I hope so too. It's funny cause he looks more comfortable with Scott than he does with Pogs....

Correct me if I’m wrong (sure I’ve read it somewhere) but hasn’t Kieran McKenna cited Fred as a good example of how he wanted his central midfielders to play? This was back when McKenna was running the youth team.

I’m hoping that if there’s one man at the club who knows how to use Fred properly, it’s going to be him.

Until his first touch stops being erratic he will always be a potential liability. At times you can see a good player in there but his ability to make basic errors is just too high for a CM in a top side.

No chance he can be afforded the time he was given last season, he's now fighting Matic as the third best midfielder at the club, and that's on the assumption that Mctominay will back up his promise for last season season, we just have no room for error, he has to be good enough now.

Loads of energy but his passing and concentration needs to improve this season. He will be watched closely by the fans and if they feel he is not good enough he will be let know.

Still haven’t worked out what type of player he is- can he have the discipline to play dm or does he need to be higher up the pitch?

Bar young (pre season) and Fellaini, I don't remember our players being boo'ed by our fans.

Spoken like someone who can't point out Manchester on a map, let alone go to games...

Maybe it's me, but I remember a time when players struggled moving only from north to south and visa versa, and they were given a season. I remember a time when fans use to give players the opportunity to a season to settle when new to the country, culture, climate, club, league, team, style of play etc. Let's not forget, he's not joining in 1999, he joined at one of the most toxic periods in Utd history. That aside, let's not also forget he's only made 26 appearances, let that soak in. It probably amounts to 10 games in total. Can you believe fans are writing off a player after 10 games aside from all the above?

I heard the same mentality about young players....I feckin give up.

There's a player in there for sure.

He needs to think quicker and make more intelligent passes, it think it's more psychological with Fred (Hopefully this is something that can be worked on in training)

At Beastietom's age, I bet he will struggle to find Manchester on the map, never mind the bathroom on time.

Do you really think that Fred's passing and concentration are good enough for him to start for us? Otherwise we paid £55m for someone to warm the bench. That's daft.

You'd hope so, the system we're playing currently is reminiscent of the one we used under McKenna so maybe there's still hope for Fred in the grand scheme of things .

When was Fernandinho regarded as being crap? And by who? Not me. For a good few seasons too, not just a few games? Was he crap in the same way Jones and Smalling have always been crap for us? That kind of crap?

Why would he schedule his own wedding in the middle of pre season?? Especially considering his not so great standing in the squad, the absolute dope.
Couldn't the fecking wedding be held in his 6-7 weeks holiday fra mid May till early July?

When he booked it, he might have hoped to be in the Brazil squad for the Copa America?
